Are there still really 'strikes'? WMG has put its tag on about 5 or 6 of my videos and all that happened is they just don't play anymore.

But what really bugs me about this is WMG saying a few months ago that they had made a deal with YouTube 'working everything out' and all it led to was a WMG channel. They kind of missed the whole point of why people were angry.

I think it's a shame that someone who simply covers a song is branded a thief.

If you're interested, consider licensing your stuff under Creative Commons or copyleft. It's a way for musicians, authors, and more to spread their work while still being acknowledged. I highly recommend it and look forward to more of your stuff, man.

Hey JC, I have been watching you videos for nearly 2 years and have to say the song that I have enjoyed the most by you are your originals. Would love to see alot more original stuff. Copyrights suck I know. I tryed to put up a video of my photography with little wing by hendrix as the soundtrack and was pulled off. If we aren't profiting off it we should be able to use it.

essentially if you put the copyright info within the video like at the bottom put something like "this song is not mine, it is not an original, all credit for this song go to the respective owners" because then you are legally acknowledging its not yours. idk that might work

hey man. I'm sorry to hear about your copyright woes. It's a very unfair situation these days when it comes to covers. I really think we should start a movement to change the laws about this. I'm sure there's enough people who would band together so that we can change some laws.

But, until something changes that's driven me to cover only classical songs that are free domain, and of course originals.

If you ask me, if a performer is performing a song live, with there own changes, it's unique.

I did receive an email from youtube for partners..they wanted ideas..the best idea at the very top that someone suggested was to give youtubers a list of music that we can play in our vids without all the woes of copyright, i have a feeling that should apply for covers as well. from all the reading I've researched, WMG is the only one that is not in agreement. WMG I believe, is the 2nd largest Major Label.

What I find ironic is that people like me who seldom buy albums might after seeing a cover go out and buy the origional. The folks with copyrights might give this some consideration.
