  • Yeah! Dancing Through Life by Wicked! :D

  • Sound like there is hole in that horn.

  • Is holding the neck necessary? Or recommended? Because i just now noticed none of my fellow tubas do that, and a lot of people i see on youtube do that.

  • @suprmacdaddy It's just like a comfort zone for sousaphone players.

We have kids who will leave their left arm down all together, we have some who will hold the neck/mouth piece, and we have some who cradle the bottom of the tube.

    It's jsut for comfort.

  • OH MY GOD THATS THE WICKED SHOW!!! I DID THAT!!

  • I play trombone and that was our show last year.

The name of the show is wicked

  • I play trombone and that was our show last year.

  • What is this show called?

  • @xDingox89 i have no clue, but i want to know too haha.

  • sousaphone is boss! freshman year sousaphone is going damn good

  • HE DIDNT SAY IT WAS A SAXAPHONE ITS CALLED A SOUSAPHONE NOT A TUBA THE TUBA LOOKS JUST LIKE A BARITONE WHICH IS NOT THE INTRUMENT IN THE VIDEO!

  • @TheNissanCube ???? dude what??

  • good job!!!! ^__^

  • Im just learning how to play for marching band (i play clarinet in concert), and so far it hurts like a bitch. I was wonderin how long that lasts before you get used to it.

  • @PunkxCherub I will get better, its probably already better by the time I've posted (sorry for the delay) if not I would make sure to do cool downs after you rehearse.

  • @gotenks31069, you'll wind up like Dizzy if you are not careful..

  • @PunkxCherub I've played tuba for over 30 years and you may never get used to it. Try a pad and a bunch of Iboprophen? The worst for me was, at 90 lbs sopping wet in jr.high, carrying a Conn brass sousaphone in a 4 to 5 mile parade in the middle of summer. Certainly made me rethink my instrument choice at the time! The fiberglass are much easier to deal with! Stick with it...nothing quite like the tuba and I'm still playing in city concert and symphony bands!

  • @PunkxCherub We are just alike. Im going to start playing tuba next year in the spring. im practicing on baritone to get the fingerings down fisr. Well now i kno what its going to feel like

  • @PunkxCherub I suggest you go to the gym and work on your body.

  • @nuclearthreat545 with tuba players greatness is mesured in pounds so why dont you go to the gym?! or even better get a life!

  • @albertwesker36 Um what? He said it hurts like a bitch, read what he said first dumbass. I told him to go to the gym so he can work on his body, AS IN GET STRONGER.

  • @nuclearthreat545 dont even need the gym just get used to the sousa on your shoulder. whatever man. you can suck my cock

  • @albertwesker36 You sound really gay dude.

  • @PunkxCherub It lasts for a week.

  • In my show, the Earth Defenders, there is a 10-year-old character named Edward Jackson Cross Jr.(or just Eddie) and he plays the sousaphone.

  • i played wicked my freshman year but i played baritone.

  • hayyy, wicked lol. we played this also

  • aww what a cute black dude

  • out of tune

  • lol i played wicked my eight grade year

  • What is the name of the song.

  • idk if it's just the video, but it sounds like you need to open your teeth some.

  • I just started marching to, the only thing that sucks with Sousaphone is the my shoulder is rly sore...=/

  • They make a shoulder pad for the sousaphone, but you can save money and just get a towel and fold it 2-3 times and put it on your shoulder and let the sousaphone rest on it.. It helps but it will take about a year b4 your shoulder gets use to the weight of the sousaphone on it... I played the sousaphone for 6 years (4 in high school and 2yrs for Furman university )

  • What the crap wicked? I just saw that today. Rofl.

  • wat da difference btween tuba and sousaphone?

  • same thing. main diff is that sousaphones go around the body, and normal tubas dont

  • That is HUUGE

  • lol, wicked?

  • te falta ampliar el sonido es muy delgado

practica para ese sousaphone consigue un boquilla vincent bach 24 AW mega da muy buena poryeccion del sonido

  • Eveta??

  • youre ok, improve your intonation! keep playin

  • you need to work on your tone....

  • u suck

  • hes not bad

  • man rock tha sousaphone

  • its a damn sousaphone

  • aint that wicked ?

  • holy crap...thats a big saxaphone!

  • That's not a saxaphone

  • @NailTailBee it says SOUSAphone smart one not SAXaphone

  • @MarvSquacks I never claimed that it did

  • you are so ignorant that is not a saxaphone

  • @TragicRaver it never said SAXaphone its called a SOUSAphone smart one

  • its a tuba, its okay if you didnt know what it was, idk why people think everyone knows it all to make dumb as comments, its a sousaphone, often called tuba

  • a seusaphone is never called a tuba

  • where im from it is

  • most ppl know the seusaphone as a tuba.

if someone asks u wat instroment and u say seusaphone there like WAT and then u have to say tuba

  • its sousaphone.

  • i really don't believe you're serious.

  • lol...it got some laughs tho ;)

  • omg its wicked

our band did that one year

  • have u guys ever heard of eau gallie high school?

  • wut school is that it sounds like one we faced in comp

  • Wicked! (Literally, that's the song.)

  • How much cost this tuba?

  • look it up on a music store. Probably around 500? for a really nice one

  • at school we use fiberglass ones that are painted white and arent even clear coated so the paint chips sometimes

  • Jealous of your show. Wish we could do one that neat. Oh well. *sighs*

  • Yea, I know, I didnt have time to tune, I actually was not there to stay long but I ended up visiting and making the video. the guy who is whistling is the owner of the sousaphone and its just right for him so yea...but thanks for comments guys keep em coming k. ~peace~

  • ...good but...FLAT

  • actually...sharp

  • Idk if it was just me, but on a couple notes it seemed flat. but i also play tuba, not sousaphone :/

    overall good

  • YOU ROCK PUTO

  • i just recently started tuba, from bass clarinet... what i dont get... is how you really totally know which know is which; and how you really know which one is the right notee... help me someone????

    -NinaxTuba

  • exercise:P, and do much scales, octaves how do you call it like this-> c-d-e-f-g-a-b-c

  • Practice. Even get a tuner that says which note your playing. The best thing to do is to practice going up and down on one valve and then do another. Remeber. The faster you blow the air the high the note. The slower the lower. It all depends on the speed of the air, how your lips are.

    Good Luck.

Message me for more help if you need it :)

    Be glad to help

  • are you playing with other people

  • The song is called Dancing through life - Defying Gravity from the musical Wicked.

Some people call it olso Wicked part 2

  • i cant remember what the songs called it starts with a "W" if tht helps

  • a sousaphone is a marching tuba, incase you haven't noticed.

  • wats the name of this song ?

  • its nice...u play the melody good...i want to learn how to play the sousaphone...

  • WTF i once read a book that had a pic of a sousaphone and said it was a tuba (i knew it wasent)

  • i love your sound. its so clear and refreshing.

  • That looked more suited to a concert tuba.

  • tune it up! Damn, low reg wasn't too bad but the high reg was sharp as hell.

  • oh snap i played this last year in concert band my freshmen year at my highschool. it took me along time to figure out to play it and the low d's were hard for me to get cuz i had been switched from bc baritone to tuba and i had only been playing since for a few months im alot better now. i have to be im the only tuba

  • dat wuz str8 but wat wuz u playin but u good and work on playin more full and work on yo lows ya digg

  • yea, this was in high school though, Im a full time college music ed major...I prolly shouldn't even have this up really...I just enjoy the song alot

  • nice job, you guys should check our mexican regional, it may not be what ur into but check out some of the music to see how those guys play its freaking sick

  • what is the name of that piece?

  • wicked

  • wow.... your SIGHTREADING that!? wow!! you must be like REALLY good!!! i'm not good at sightreading... but i'm not bad i guess either.. but anyways.. good job ^_^

  • thats wicked

  • you need to put that boring shit down and get a guitar :)

  • poor guy u probably play a instrument

  • If I may say so, you have a good articulation. On the other hand, check your sousaphone with a tuner. I think it's not completely tuned. Easy to do by sliding the tubes in or out. Or your music store can advise on how to do it. Please feel free to comment also on my playing (search for pcrom)

  • why exactly are we giving tuning lessions on youtube? i'm pretty sure we learned that in the first week of music class in grade 6

  • Sorry I don't know what you mean by grade 6 as I didn't have music class on sousaphone.

What I was trying to say is tune your sousaphone or let someone do it. When tuned, it is much easyer to play. If it's a little out of tune you have to correct that with your lips and that's not good for getting an easy tone out of the instrument.

  • nah dont worry about it bud...i was just being an ass...i know what your saying

  • p.s. ...i did still enjoy your videos... esspecially in the mood...nice job man

  • i've never seen a gold sousaphone, the ones at my school are silver. just to make sure, you were getting ready for marching right? cuz if you werent i think that it would be weird to play a sousaphone for a normal concert. sounded good, but since i play the trombone trombones will always be the best ;P

  • just to correct you, its not a gold sousaphone, its brass
