Sorry but this method of hard resetting the Ipaq simply does not work. The only way to hard reset these machines is to download hardreset.cab and install or remove the battery.

@llewyn Thanks for the info. I just obtained an old H3870 and the hard reset wasn't working. I was looking for a solution and found this video with your comment. Finally i'm able to do a hard reset on my ipaq:)
