Its about 11-11.5''. I know you yourself own Ts and film them, but as you know the camera does NOT do it justice and he is bigger than the female. He is ended up being a mature male...STILL ALIVE to this day and it is actually Theraphosa stirmi before it discovered and put into Platnick's World Spider Catalog in July of 2010
@Jon3800 Hmmm okay....do u still have the old molt u could measure and show? Cuz if true, its pretty impressive i think. But i thought u talk about the female being 12" in the video.
Unfortunately the molt broke apart, but it is around the 10-11", not 11+ mark as I stated. I was being too ambitious at the time. Right now the specimen is a Mature male, still alive and well. Its currently one of the largest specimens I own.
The female is actually lot smaller than he is, she's pushing 9-9.5''. I attempted mating these with no success. The male is too old unfortunately
Unfortunately the molt broke apart as this was filmed more than 2 years ago, but it is around the 10-11", not 11+ mark as I stated, I was being a bit too ambitious. You can check my latest videos since this one is still alive in the form of a mature male T.stirmi, not the true blondi you have.
The female is actually lot smaller than he is, she's pushing 9-9.5''. I attempted mating these with no luck. The male is too old.
$40 can get you a nice 1'' specimen. I'm not sure where you live...but tarantula dealers such as swifts inverts or ken the bug guy from the US might have some in stock
Well, listen. People come here to learn about tarantulas, and I give them the info they need. For one, they're not bugs, these are arachnids. A bug is an insects with 6 legs. Spiders have 8. People unintentionally fear them because they are lot larger than other spiders...misunderstood. Least aggressive and dangerous...I would think not.. Certain species are more aggressive than others and WILL hospitalize you if got bitten
You don't really know much about tarantulas do you? I know which species are have medically significant venom or not; have been keeping tarantulas for 16 years now. Search bite reports of Poecilotheria, Stromatopelma, Heteroscodra. Their bite reports consist of severe muscle and leg cramps, nausea, swelling, fever...would make anyone go to the hospital. Tarantulas ARE dangerous if one is allergic to their venom similar to one in honey bees.
I have studied them for years.....The only way they are dangerous is if your allergic to them otherwise their bite is that harmful.... Yes it can make you end up depending upon the species in a hospital but those rare occurences are few and far between.
As far as iv'e read on most species they aren't dangerous...... Thats why thers never been a confirmed death from a T's bite. All of the tarantulas iv'e read on have the same personality of biting in selfdefense and are not aggressive towards people...
Partially true. Not all Ts have the same personality. Each specimen is different. Not every B.smithi will act like the textbook case of general B.smithi.
Not all species are not aggressive towards people. Species like Stromatopelma calceatum, Psalmopoeus irminia, and Haplopelma hainanum are species that actually have been known to be offensive and charge at people.
we'll S.calceatum comes from Africa, P.irminia comes from South America, and the Haplopelma originates from Asia...
I see where you were coming from. You only limited yourself to the US/Mexican species. Yes, of course they're not usually aggressive, but anything outside north america, especially in Asia, Africa and Australia, Ts are far more aggressive.
do you know how big the Pamphobeteus Platyomma gets because i cannot find information on it. I just got a 2.5-3 inch Pamphobeteus Platyomma at the reptile expo today in white plains.
P Platyomma only gets 6-7 inches? well how cool do adults look? I still want one. Ima buy 2.5-3" for 38 bucks when I buy Sucks You missed out on those pokies=(
Quit that account. I've moved on, a lot since that account. 220 Subs! Woohoo! That account, I had 8. And, I had over 20 videos. You think you can make a sub video for us? Please...:P
P , Miranda is intensively webbing and active. I hope it molts soon that way I can confirm if its a female. or a male. fingers crossed for female lol.
Suicidal cricket at 2:50! X-D How'd you get banned from a forum? o.0 Haha, my cambridgei's been naughty. She's currently eating one of her house-keeping isopods.
That sucks. They should at least take the ban off since it's becoming more known of his actions.. No WONDER members on AB were so timid about leaving negative feedback. >:-(
ya i know what u mean i saw the king baboon in tarantula canada well i hope u get one soon im wanting one for chrismas or the colbalt blue what would u recommended
I don't know, I personally wouldn't get them because they are pet holes, which is way i dont have very many videos on my baboons. Both are ultra defensive KB's are larger than cobalts but are also the most colorful. So I don't know lol, pick your poison LOL
Dude, I honestly have no idea when or if I'm getting one. As I'm specifically looking for an adult female, my importer where I get my adults has considerably slowed down on purchasing tarantulas and none have shown up. When they do arrive, he will sell me one.
I could buy a 2 inch specimen for $85 at T.Canada, but despite taking 10 years to grow, I will not buy one. I'll just wait for the adults for $100. Until now, there is no news
Hey! Been watching your vids for a while. I have a few tarantulas myself. Mostly arboreals. I've been dealing with Tarantula Canada and they're great but right now I'm looking for another P. Metaliica.
Ok dude, my C. fasciatum is having , molting problems. She/he is 1.5in and on its side molting in pieces! I'm a little worried and just put some water around her/him... Tell me if you can!
Dang the one expo i missed. Jon the next one thats in mississauga you should come down and say hi, im usually at everyone. It would be cool to meet you in person
Damn i wish i would be able to get my hand on P Hanumavilasumica, almost the last one i miss in my collection, but still miss P regalis...go figure;).
