you can see from the self-titled album album cover, Dickey's hardly visible. I believe that's where Cameron Crowe got the idea for his movie, Almost Famous, during which a character is pissed off because he is hardly visible in the band's t-shirt
@RedsFanatic01 Yes, and the time he spent with the ABB and Lynard Skynard; hence, the many ABB references: Red Dog the ABB Roadie, the band's dispute over the story which really happened because Gregg Allman stole Crowe's recordings, the poor band relationships (Dickie and Gregg), and the main character's all too similar Dickie Betts mustache.
@danigoni: He got his dates a bit wrong, though. Duane called Gregg on the 23rd after the new group's first jam. Gregg arrived and joined the band on March 26th.
Although not mentioned, this festival was known as the Second Atlanta International Pop Festival. July 3-5, 1970 and also featured Jimi Hendrix, John Sebastian, Poco, Grand Funk Railroad, BB King, Rare Earth, Cactus, Procol Harum, Ten Years After & Richie Havens. (Jethro Tull and Captain Beefheart did not appear according to Rolling Stone)
I always wondered what Jimi thought of Duane. I know he was aware of him. Evidently Duane dug Jimi alot, I heard he even claimed the song "Little Martha" came to Duane in a dream where Jimi played the melody for him on a sink faucet!
Does anyone know what year this documentary was produced?

What year was this documentary made? Late '70s early '80s, I'm guessing.

Too bad there wouldnt be enough decent bands to fit the bill today. Although a few of the bands that played the original are still around.
