I have a black XR with mocha leather.Moon roof and it does pull for a heavy car. Love it. Drive it right and it will give you 25-30 mpg. I love the transmission . It releases it's grip on the engine while coasting around 55-60 mph. Tach drops to idle. Sweet!!
sounds great! i have an 07 saturn aura XR as well. i recently was able to fashion a cold air intake off the stock. the only part i can not fid is a muffler. what kind of muffler did you use and how did you attach it to the current exhaust set up??
@victoriadish a little closer to a Malibu..but from what I understand, they're both very similar and use almost the same chasis and engine, depending on what trim level you get...the Malibu is basically an Aura copy with Chevy's body and interior design, but they still use a lot of the same components..look for yourself!!
Oh and by the way, a bone Stock Aura XR will beat an 04 Hyundai Tiburon GT and a 07 Scion TC. I know they are not carzy fast cars, but the fact remains a four door family sedan will beat 2-door sport coupes if you dont belive me watch this "Tiburon GT vs. Scion tC vs. Aura XR" on you tube. They hard to find because of engine placement but with some MODs the XR can push 300HP+ while still the little insurance and maintenance of an american 4-door auto. Hahahaha.

For all you Haters out there, the GM LY7 3.6L V6 engine in this Saturn, is the same engine used in the Cadillac CTS, SRX, STS, GMC Acadia, Pontiac G8, Torrent, and G6 GTP, Chevrolet Malibu, Equinox. Also if you change the timing so that you get a compression ratio of 11.4:1, GUESS WHAT? You have the 2010 Chevrolet Camaro engine too. Hahaha. So there you have have it, this has been used in many cars and its even strong enough for SUV's. Great Job GTRDUDE. I like tha band too.

I ordered it at a car shop, and they ordered it from Magnaflow, cuz they're a Magnaflow dealer...the muffler is for a last generation camaro, since they don't make any for the Aura..we just took measurements and found the right one..
yeah they should be able to..but I went to a custom shop that specializes in audio and performance upgrades..basically a "tuner" shop...and I don't even remember how much it was..I got it about 2 years ago haha
drive the XR...it has at least 30 more hp and torque, and it's a 6-speed auto w/ paddle shifters...better off-the-line acceleration..and I believe better tires...I know the wheels are Enkie made 18's

Saturns may go way down in price during the phase out. Maybe 50% off from what I heard on the news. If its true I might look into getting a new Saturn. I have a 99 SL2 1.9 DOHC 5 speed with 160,000 on it and the motor runs great, very reliable car. I bought it cheap, the guy who owned it at the time said he thought the starter was out and didn't want to spend the money to fix it so I got it for a deal. Come to find out the problem was the GRD wire from the block to battery.
You should pt a performance chip on your Aura, I did it with my XR and I can really feel the difference, plus with some other modifications I am able to wipe out my friends rally car (srt-4)
I'm thinking about modding my XR. Could you share a little more about the exhaust. It sounds great! Do you feel the extra ponies? And the air intake? I couldn't find one but did get a performance filter that has made a noticeable difference.
sounds nice at idle once the motor is warm for a V-6. I got my wife one of the XR's in Dec of 06 just in techno gray. Been a good car, no major issues has 44500 miles on it, be across the US 4 times.

I have Yokahoma Parada Spec 2's tires with W rated rims. Im not stupid. But your right thats part of the reason that they have a 115 limiter cuz of the tires.
I know the head of Faurecia here in Indiana, they make the seats for the Aura, who allowed me to spend last summer proposing, designing, prototyping, testing, and finally installing a new exhaust system on my car. It's technically company owned information so I can't give you more than what I have. Although, I can say that we are in talks with GM and aftermarket suppliers (ie. magnaflow, flowmaster, etc) to put the product on the market. You'd be amazed what can be done with an unlimited budget.
I have an '07 XR as well and would like to put the K&N intake on it. Did you have to mod a readily available kit or what? BTW, my Aura makes 292hp on the dyno right now so your help in figuring this out will help me put the "ricers" to shame. hehehehehehehe

that's after...the fastest clocked 0-60 time for it is 5.9 seconds stock from a few car magazines, and I think the slowest was 6.2 seconds...and I'm sure if I had better tires on it my time would be even quicker, probly around 5.5 seconds, who knows?
i looked at my intake. i dont see how a 3" K&N filter would fit on there. Theres no adapter/bracket needed or anything? I also saw that I need to buy some torx pieces. i hate torxxxxx!!!

it is pretty loud at lower RPMs, but it doesn't sound like a fart or a weed whacker when you're just cruisin' down the street or highway lol, it's a lot deeper and throaty, cuz lets face it, it's a bigger V6 than most cars in its class, and it sounds great when you have it at full throttle around 5000-6000 RPMs
oh and I also only have one muffler, which is the Magnaflow muffler...the factory one by the cat was removed and replaced with a straight pipe, so it is a little louder than normal, but still legal
OMG i want this as my first car so bad. How does it ride? the only complaints i've heard about it is that the steerings isn't great & the wheel feels loose. And how's the speed? do you think it could match up with say...an Audi A4?.
The weight distribution is uneven, with most of its mass in the front, but the wheelbase is longer than most of the cars in its class, I'm sure it would handle a lot better with performance tires. The speed is great..Saturn's second fastest car...first being the Sky Redline...it was rated 0-60 in 5.9 sec and 1/4 mi time of 14.5 sec @97.7 mph..with the intake and exhaust I put on, it feels more torquey and i'm assuming a few tenths of a second faster...I've already kept up with V8 F-bodies =]
I just bought this car but it's in "Ocean Mist". Don't like the color but it's pretty peppy. I gutted out the cats in my 95' camaro and it got 20hp boost -- but doing this with my XR would be a pain because of inspection. If I had the money, I'd of bought the Pontiac G8 V8.
Yeah, putting on a K&N intake and a cat-back system..also removing the first muffler near the cat, probly gave me at least an extra 15-20 hp as well...but then again, I haven't dynoed the actual results..
yeah, you notice more torque than anything, plus the intake lets the engine breathe, therefore also making the engine itself louder...like when i have it at full throttle, especially in the high RPMs, some things on the dash rattle, lol...see this is an everyday driver so I can't exactly take both mufflers off...that would be illegal lol..but it sounds great with one of them removed

We have an 09 saturn aura XR with an Intake and an 08 Scion TC with a few bolt ons and the TC pulls pretty decently on the XR. The XR is a heavy pig.

no i didn't...this is my second Saturn...I had an 03 Ion quad coupe, with a bunch of mods..I used to take it to car shows and everything lol..
the car was just under $30,000..and that's a fully loaded Aura XR...I'd say get the Saturn..it's a lot more "classy"

that's after...the fastest clocked 0-60 time for it is 5.9 seconds stock from a few car magazines, and I think the slowest was 6.2 seconds...and I'm sure if I had better tires on it my time would be even quicker, probly around 5.5 seconds, who knows?

i looked at my intake. i dont see how a 3" K&N filter would fit on there. Theres no adapter/bracket needed or anything? I also saw that I need to buy some torx pieces. i hate torxxxxx!!!

reason i ask is, i just got that car. same color and all. im going to order the K&N filter tomorrow. not sure which way i want to go with exhaust. i want somethin quiet, only slightly loud at very high rpms. i hear dynomaxs are quiet and good

it is pretty loud at lower RPMs, but it doesn't sound like a fart or a weed whacker when you're just cruisin' down the street or highway lol, it's a lot deeper and throaty, cuz lets face it, it's a bigger V6 than most cars in its class, and it sounds great when you have it at full throttle around 5000-6000 RPMs

oh and I also only have one muffler, which is the Magnaflow muffler...the factory one by the cat was removed and replaced with a straight pipe, so it is a little louder than normal, but still legal

Aura's are really nice cars. You should get a set of springs to make the car a more complete package.

OMG i want this as my first car so bad. How does it ride? the only complaints i've heard about it is that the steerings isn't great & the wheel feels loose. And how's the speed? do you think it could match up with say...an Audi A4?.

The weight distribution is uneven, with most of its mass in the front, but the wheelbase is longer than most of the cars in its class, I'm sure it would handle a lot better with performance tires. The speed is great..Saturn's second fastest car...first being the Sky Redline...it was rated 0-60 in 5.9 sec and 1/4 mi time of 14.5 sec @97.7 mph..with the intake and exhaust I put on, it feels more torquey and i'm assuming a few tenths of a second faster...I've already kept up with V8 F-bodies =]

I just bought this car but it's in "Ocean Mist". Don't like the color but it's pretty peppy. I gutted out the cats in my 95' camaro and it got 20hp boost -- but doing this with my XR would be a pain because of inspection. If I had the money, I'd of bought the Pontiac G8 V8.

Yeah, putting on a K&N intake and a cat-back system..also removing the first muffler near the cat, probly gave me at least an extra 15-20 hp as well...but then again, I haven't dynoed the actual results..

yeah, you notice more torque than anything, plus the intake lets the engine breathe, therefore also making the engine itself louder...like when i have it at full throttle, especially in the high RPMs, some things on the dash rattle, lol...see this is an everyday driver so I can't exactly take both mufflers off...that would be illegal lol..but it sounds great with one of them removed

No...it's a 2.5in cat-back system with a camaro muffler...not sure of the part number...I'd have to get the warranty info on it..
those are also bigger exhaust tips...I believe they are 2.5in as well
