Ever since Clinton signed NAFTA, the poverty level in Mexico has rose significantly. It has destroyed the very same foundation farmers built their lives upon by exploiting Mexico's labor force for the sole production of the US. It's government is as much corrupt as it is in the US so that it why it protects US interest. Anyway, immigrants go to the US to escape the very same conditions that US policy creates which are terrifically atrocious which you'd find if you do some research.

Employers benefit from illegal aliens at everyone else's expense. It is a de facto subsidy to the employers. Hiring Americans is actually cheaper as we taxpayers save on the social costs. Hiring an American may produce a slightly higher price for some American consumers but that is offset by higher the wages and opportunities for American workers.

Yes Mexico is pretty screwed up to live, and at leas some of them are probably making a reasonable decision to abandon ship.
BUT Americans have to worry about their own sercurity and saftey first. We can't afford the social programs we have now, we unfortantly can't take care of the rest of the world.
We can be selective and take the quality people, and try to get them here quickly, but we don't have the room, money, to take care of "everyone"

Except Mexico does have a lot of oil. They don't have the infrastructure to make it profitable, mainly due to the corruption of the government and/or the power the drug cartels wield.
Historically we already had a opportunity to take over Mexico, during the time of president Polk we did have a successful invasion of Mexico, and we chose not to add them to the United States.
Not sure why, but we didn't. Seems kinda dumb considering that Gadsen purchase we made for mere strip
