The engine failure was from a contaminated fuel injection servo -- cellophane on the air-side of the diaphram... This was not fuel contamination or builder related.
How did this plane get destroyed? I think it would be a useful lesson for us GA pilots. FAA lists registration as canceled for being destroyed in '95. Registered in '85. I'd say the test pilot's haircut verifies the date :)
The ASF database says on 4/19/93 power was lost due to plastic debris (prob from construction) lodged in the fuel injector causing power loss and subsequent collision w/ trees, terrain during force landing. Minor injuries.

Great video, thanks for posting! For all others: there are some great live footage of the test flight half-way in the vid. Must have been a proud moment. I'm hoping to build a glasair, or maybe a lancair, myself some day. How long did it take to build? What engine are you using?
