you guys are right my comments earlier were stupid and immature. fuck the original gracies and mark hatmaker who tried to bring self defense to people. As for wrestling itself its a great sport and would work on most guys in the street but in MY OPINION real gracie jiu jitsu not the sportive stuff is more effective in street circumstances so as opposed to saying fuck either sports i say who ever does both and gets the best from each shall be the victor. But a lot of you are notright on BJJ facts
BTW, BJJ fans. BJJ comes from a mixture of catch wrestling and tradition japanese JJ. because the guy who taught the gracies was a JJ black belt, and he trained catch wrestling in europe.
damn, nuts. i like these. that last one takes some flexibility. I guess some of these would be a lot more difficult though if the guy was looking to armbar you. but still good stuff.
Hey dip shit your moves are sum what right. one thing i cant stand is people like you who bad rep BJJ. the hip exit YOU said you created was right thats true but you failed to mention that, that move you did is jiu jitsu.
Actually, the move he teaches here is catch wrestling. Certainly there is a lot of similarity to the styles, though catch has more to offer in a no-gi situation.
not really its an honest mistake of a lot of people make to think that jiu jitsu is so gi oriented. i teach at a gracie jiu jitsu academy and we only have 3 gi moves in all. everything else is very realistic which is why i take offense to people like him who say jiu jitsu sucks in reality its more Japanese jiu jitsu sucks because its more sportive then realalistic
I'm sorry, but you started by calling my teacher a dip shit. First, he never claimed he invented that hip escape. And if you do your research, you'll find that American wrestlers went to Japan and taught most of this stuff before your beloved patriarch went to Brazil. In fact, Kimura, who I believe beat Helio Gracie had been working with American Catch teachers for about four years before that fight.
Which patriarch are you referring to? It is true that many Gracies, specifically Rolls Gracie, studied wrestling and extracted all the realistic and effective moves and incorporated it into their system, but Americans did not teach the Japanese their jiu-jitsu; it was the European Indians.
Theres 3 people that use this account the first guy to reply to him was an instructor i myself dont like him as much for the fact that he does not specify which jiu jitsu hes talking about because gracie is real combative but japanese jiu jitsu is very sportive i mean hatmaker has some okay moves as long as he stays in wrestling situations but his system is flawed in real combat but you could probably get away with it on the average joe but i'd prefer to learn the bjjguy under gracies
He style seems to be freestyle wrestling mixed with Judo( because he dont like the closed guard) .Good shit here! His shit cost alot of money, I might suck it up and buy his sweeps dvd.
I've seen this video before, whereas the techniques that he offers put me on the road to being an oldschool wrestling convert. Mark's the best kept secret in grappling. The brutal techniques that he offers are what I like to refer to as "Back Pocket Moves", which are techniques that most people aren't aware of and which you try to keep outside the awareness of the competition.
Awesome Video! Mark Hatmaker really knows his stuff. Loved the last escape from the mount position technique. If you have any more Sheng81 I think we would all benefit! Thanks!
Thanks, I have his book but more clips would be great.

That was pretty solid. Few things are worse than being mounted and pounded in an MMA fight. He makes it looks so damned easy though.
