  • I prefer SK sockets and use Toptul wrenches, ratchets and screwdrivers which are fantastic for much less moolah. Toptul can hold up to abuse and I've used them hard..Snap on is primo but I know the alternatives and save .

  • I'll probably buy a lot more MAC and MATCO, and I like Snap-on's torque wrenches (thats about all from snappy). The cost is high because A. Techs will pay cuz they wanna have the name brands just like the kids want $150 jeans. B. Cheap tools are hell to get replaced, even craftsman is getting tougher. C. They calculate the replacement costs into the MSRP. Having said all that....theyre all nuts!!! You can buy 2 of everything from sears and then have a spare while you wait for a replacement.

  • Insane price

  • I meant to say, their ratchets aren't worth a damn.

  • @sherman3211 the Snap On long handle with lower switch for locking flex head 3/8 drive ratchet sucks, mine wore out twice! it would pop out of lock causing me to bust my hand! had him fix it again, but I don't trust it no more! But I have a regular 3/8 drive ratchet, long handle. its held up, but I started with craftsman when I was young, cause it was fair priced and they replaced them when they broke. I liked that. always felt they was worth the value for a USA tool company, even their ratchets

  • I agree about craftsman also, use plenty of their stuff, except I don't think the ratchets are not worth a damn. I use Williams, Snap on or Matco wrenches. Snap On quality is definitely the best, the fit and finish are perfect on them, but I agree, I won't open a damn vein for them. Check out williams, basically a less polished line of Snap On industrial tools. I paid like $68 for a 20 piece metric set of sockets, very nice for the money, warranty too.

  • Shit. No kidding snap off is expensive. I just got a 9 piece heavy duty metric hex bit from snap on. Luckily I managed to get it for a on sale for $170, LOL. But I work on VW and everything is a damn torx. I wouldnt drop 700 plus on a set. Maybe, and I mean MAYBE $400 I'd pay for it. But not a penny more. Frankly I've started messing around with JH Williams and they are an excellent value for the money. Matco is nice, but our guy is a dickhead, the Snap On guy is actually cool, go figure.

  • @sherman3211 I never had Williams might have to check into the brand. I just picked up a micro 1/4 drive and 3/8 drive ratchet from Matco, from last months add, around 110 bucks for both, really nice small ratchets for tight places. and hey my Snap On guy is ultra cool, no lie! very nice, he has promotions every week. last week 99 bucks for 10mm to 19mm 1/2inch chrome sockets! really nice deal for their brand! they are starting to smash Matco deals. but good price on that 170 for that set by far

  • Completeley agree snap on make great tools but i am working to make money not pay for tools all my life with a high interest rate on a side note we don't have craftsman in the uk any other tool brands you can recommened

  • @dantae666 No Craftsman over there? wow. Sears and Craftsman line is hurting and here they could be selling their brand all over there too, they really are value to me for tool company with warranty for tools. crazy they don't sell them over there. but not sure what other brands are there either? one comment mentions Stahlwille, not sure of the brand, but I swear this trade sucks for a living! but great for hobby, I do like being able to fix my own car.

  • Some good points in that video. I have snap-on myself and yes they are expensive and can understand completely what this guy is saying. I personally have got to a point where I buy snap-on when I want it not when I need it. I work in a machine shop so its a little different but my tools are from all over the place, usa (craftsman, snap-on), germany( stahlwille) in fact alot of my measuring equipment is japanese.

  • I have been a mechanic for almost 30 years and yes snap-on is VERY EXPENSIVE. And it does make me buy a lot less tools. But also they are the best I have broken a knuckle using craftsman tools so that cost me more than the better tools from snap-on would have. You just have to decide how imported it is for you to keep your hands & arms from being beat up or literally broken.Or wasting time & gas to replace them. Now in my opinion you could not law Craftsman tools on me. But that is just me.

  • Silver Eagle is their generic brand if you will. It is not the matco brand name. If it were, it would be more. That is why snap-on is so expensive. They too have a generic line called blue point I believe.

  • @ijoey44 Yes you are right .

  • fuck snap on.the quality has gone down as well.i break snap on shit more than ever.good tool boxes, ratchets, wrenches.thats it.craftsman is just fine.and you dont have to chase a tool dealer down and wait for your broken shit.ive had them all.snap on is nice but tools are tools man.harbor freight.has good stuff as well.

  • i was just at sears the other day and i saw something similar by craftsman for $40

  • Also snap on will give good deals on trade ins. My friend got what looks like a 42 in chests with like 9 draws for 1100 so that's not that bad. People buy what they want and I'm not against snap on there good tools I just don't agree with the price.

  • one thing worth every penny from Snap On is their 1/2 drive MG725 impact gun! that thing is a monster! so for the money you get a serious impact! 2 of my coworkers have that model, I have older Snap On IM6500, an IR231xp, a Bluepoint that matches my IR, and a 70 dollar harbor frieght special! when they all fail to break a tough one loose at work, I use my coworker's Snap On MG725, and BAM! it breaks it! So I have to say its worth it!

  • Not about what good your box is all it does is hold tools its about what's inside.

  • I would not pay that. I have some snap on tool prob $3000 worth and that's when I wasn't looking at the prices then I looked I to mac tools and there prices are much better and they give better deals and specials and the quality is just as good. I stoped buying snap on and now I buy mac and I couldn't be happier.. and one mistake many tecs. Make or younger people getting into the field is buying a snap on tool box. Waste of money. I was loooking at a box from snap on 14k same one dif. Brand 2K

  • @IJP9 I got few Mac tools, they are nice, but we have no local truck that comes here, But Snap On and Matco do. and yes agree their boxes are not cheap, I like they are USA made, but man I can buy a nice used car at these prices, or a bike and hit the highway. But cool thing about Snap On, when I bought my box, I got a raffle ticket, most times I never win, but this time I did. so the fact Snap On gives a chance to win prizes to all their customers is nice. but I still think boxes are overpriced

  • if you like good stuff you got to pay for them !!!

  • look up the videos where husky holds together while snap on busts and rolls

  • You are so right. You have to be smart with your money. Snap on is way too expensive and too many guys go over board with Snap On

  • We also have a full line up of snap on cordless drills.. We have lost count how many times these break TOTAL CRAP! A hitachi 250$ cordless has outlasted and is still going and the Snap'on *me* Drills last no more than a month before its repair time again. We are selling most of snap on and going with Hitachi more than likely. PPL who are shopping for tools should be aware that just because it has a lifetime warranty, doesn't make it a good tool and you will need an alternative while in repair

  • @yourmissingkitty yeah the cordless drills I agree on, I got a Craftsman 19.2 volt set for under 99bucks, a 1 year warranty. it outlasted that by far, and I put this drill through serious abuse and its still going! I felt it was worth what I paid. I think Snap On cordless drills to only come with 1 year warranty, I never had an Hitachi either but I bet they are nice drills

  • Snap on are way over priced I agree. We have alot of snap on in our shop and I find that a cheap set will do what a good set does. Your paying for a name, not a tool. I have had a cheap "made in taiwan - princess auto powerfist" set and it does exactly what Snap on does. It takes stupidity / missuse to break things like sockets, wrenches. Not using the tool in the proper way basically. Its good to have a good ratchet, but one pc items like sockets / wrenches are a rip off.

  • And another thing - shops around here charge close to $100/hour in labor. How much of that do the guys doing the work see? That's fucking bull shit.

  • @elal757 for sure I once worked for Monro, talking 8 bucks at flat rate start pay, 6 months no raise, and I had every job I did on log, I did like 60 grand of total sales in 6 months for them, that was failure to them and somehow I only broke the rate 3 times, and got a better pay, but it was grueling work to get it. I don't see how I wasn't given a raise, I quit. that was 10 years ago now. they rack in money but techs get done wrong! peace of mind? there slogan, lol

  • I don't wrench for a living, but I love tools. I've used Craftsman my whole life and recently Kobalt and Husky. Got tired of cheap 1/4 drive ratchets so I finally bought a Snap On, and it's nice as shit. But sockets? No way in hell. I've only seen a few broken sockets my whole life, and some of the sockets ive used are older than ME. No way in hell I'm paying hundreds for sockets when there are other brands that work just as well. And shit like punches that break all the time? No way.

  • Oh forgot to say the reason I started to buy snap on is because of service. One night I needed a tool at 3:30 am and I called the local snap on dealer and he brought me the tool so I could finish the job and get the press running again. which I thought was pretty darn good. Oh the heavy demolition bar in your book next to the sockets, but it. I love mine and use it a lot for prying tools and dies.

  • I saw that set on sale for $440 Canadian. but it`s still kinda pricey. I have a mix of craftsman, sk, bluepoint, unitool, gray, snap on, some stuff is just as good at cheap prices. Snap on sockets, yeah their thin and fit everywhere but expencive. snap on hammers are good and the striking prybars. But I would not outfit my box 100% snap on. Can`t afford it. I would buy a snap on tool box used though a big one if the price was right and it was mint.

  • I love my snap on tools but their prices are insane. I think mechanics should be paid way more than what they are having to supply thousands of dollars worth of tools just to do the job. I bought a 28 piece cornwell allen socket set on sale for $104. The only thing I hate is being about 85% of my tools are snap on Im trying to keep them mainly from the same brand but im definatly not going out of my way working an extra 2 weeks to buy 36 dinky sockets!

  • What I think Craftsman is fair priced, USA made. I understand Snap On is a great tool company. but does it really cost them that much to produce a quality tools? foreign markets boom cause they are willing to make it for less. is it the same quality? that can be argued, I bought a set of 1/2 drive am-pro socket set from Advanced autoparts, paid about 30 bucks, for 10mm-24mm. haven't broke one in 10years of impact use. I also got Snap On set paid near 300! next vid will be on them

  • @RANS87IROCZ

The problem with all the tool truck brands is that it's very expensive to send guys around in their own trucks selling tools. They have to keep the prices high in the catalog because if they undersold the franchisees, no one would want to invest in one.

  • @scalabration you are right, I know my Snap On guy, invested his own money into his truck in hopes to make money back off it. I understand every now and then I get a great bargain from him. infact most recent I see they are beating Matco prices! but your right its part in the tool truck sales. I was just shocked on this set at the time, felt they could do a better bargain by far on this set at the time

  • I used to be a slave to Snap on, but not any more. I buy Jet, Westward, OTC etc. I have had tools stolen, borrowed and not returned, broken at GM dealerships and all they say is its all my fault for lending them or not looking after them or maybe its somewhere in my huge box and I cant find it. We had a big shop meeting at my toolbox once on myu time that got us nowhere. Pretty sick, thats why they got union now.

  • @666smokeskull man I had this nice long handle Matco 1/4 drive ratchet. I got side tracked on my clean up when I was done with the job. I came back shut the hood, sent it on its way. next day came, went into my box, oh shit! I remembered last job I used it on, I was bent! I paid 70 bucks for that one, gone like that, down the drain! almost like a whole days pay! still upset, lol I really liked it too, one of my favs, and your right it happens, tools do walk away! I lost many with no clue where

  • i say, compare silver eagle to blue point, not snap on

  • @mando2006 you are correct, reason why Matco started selling Silver Eagle, cause Snap On had Bluepoint. If this was an actual Matco USA made set, and not their foriegn market brand. it would been over 400 bucks for sure, maybe 5.

  • My MAC tool collection run me about$5500 an its not all that big or complete. I went sears an bought a 657 pc set an only paid $650 for it.

  • u can find some snap on tools brand new on ebay for cheaper although still not cheap but better than buyin em straight off the truck. I buy my snap on tools off ebay but i aint got much. i did get a snap on 30gal air compressor off craigslist for $400 pretty much brand new and snap on site it cost just about $1400 i think. I drove bout 1hr 45mins to get it. but still a good deal i think

  • do buy there tools if you think its crazy..

  • if u re good mechanic u dont need that expensive shit anyway.snap on is good, but not the best like gedore, hazet, stahlwille or koken.

  • matco is just glorified gearwrench made in china. all snap-on socket's and ratchets are made in the USA. personaly i would rather keep my money in the US and i try to buy anything made in the US even if its spending a bit more. try and bring some of your tools back and see how much they give you in upgrading.. now bring your snap-on back and upgrade you will get amost what you paid. there for a life time of wrenching! not for the weekender

  • how much would a simple 1/2 inch ratchet cost from snap on???

  • @FromThe3PointLine I'm pretty sure the one I got was 130 bucks, I bought it over 2 years ago. I know for fact it goes for over a 100 bucks!

  • @FromThe3PointLine $139.95 plus tax

  • If you read that promo ad completely you would know that snap on was giving you $300 of trade towards that $700 set. So that makes that set $434 and not $734. Still a good chunk of change, but def a better product. The snap on set is made 100% in USA with USA steel. That silver eagle set is Matco's cheaper, China made tools and not made in the USA. Take Matco's regular Torx and allens and add them up. They would come close to the list price of the Snap on set. FYI....................

  • @kluf123 pause it at 1:46 or 1:47, and best view at 7:27 you are right about trade in but only a 100 off, not 300. and trade in may be less depending what you are trading in for it. still 634+tax, don't get me wrong I like their tools alot, and infact my Snap On guy has been having alot better deals lately. I noticed they are trying to beat Mac and Matco top line USA made, Silver Eagle is Matco's bottom line, like Blue Point is Snap On's bottom line offer they sale on truck

  • Take a mechanic, carpenter, plumber, electrician and compare these trades. Who spends the money amount of money on tools? Mechanics by a long mile. Who had to constantly update there training, mechanics by a long mile. Who gets stiffed for there income? Mechanics with the flat rate system. This is why mechanics are leaving the trades in droves for greener pastures.

  • @intjguy you got that right, the only way you profit is if you own your own garage, but then again, my boss has some out rages taxes to pay every month! then the EPA came in said he was contaminating the drains and soil on his lot, and I'm telling you I could of made better living if I just got a CDL, and drove commercial truck! which I don't need a toolbox or all the darn tools! and I don't bust knuckles and get my hands as dirty, and putting up with pos cars that should be junked!

  • @intjguy A God damn garbage man here in Kamloops BC makes more than most auto mechanics. Pretty fukkin sad that we take orders from garbage men now, and mechanics are treated like garbage men. The end is coming.

  • @666smokeskull where I'm at the garbage man by far has a better start off rate! start off mechanics have it real hard getting their foot in the door at a great place. some don't get a fair shot, pay sucks, and work is grueling. you fuck your hands up, and blow out your kneecaps. day after day you fight with other peoples nightmares, and cars that should be junked! its a rough job choice! I'll slingshot bags and cans of shit all day for 16 bucks an hour with benifits! then startoff 12 flatrate

  • @666smokeskull it`s the same here in Ontario, just getting your foot in the door is really hard. even for industrial mechanic or millwright darn near impossible.

  • That set is too much. But all I buy Is snap on I do have craftsman Mac an Matco

  • I have one snap on tool, a 1/2" drive ratchet.... I only own it because I got it for free. If I ever, which I definitely may, open a shop, it will be outfitted entirely with Craftsman tools... They are nice tools and are a much better value for your money...

  • i say craftsman sockets and snap on ratchets there's nothing wrong with the craftsman stuff. same warranty im just not a big fan of craftsman's ratchets. they kind of suck. hell you can even buy sk tools cheaper and there great.

  • if they break, they break, everything breaks. if you think taking it easy on a tools like gently using a half inch ratchet will make it un breakable thats like saying warming up your car every morning can make is last me atleast 60 years. everything breaks at a point in time

  • duralast from autozone is better

  • what is the big hype about snap on. I repair my own car, and im probably under it once a week at least. but i mean jeeze, 700 for a set of hex and alan set? A wrench turns a nut, simple as that, just because its made in the US doesn't mean that it does it any better.

For me, i use craftsman, i don't care if its made in china or mexico, it works.

  • snap on are over rated, kobalt husky and craftsman are just as good, the return policy is easier with craftsman you can go right to sears when you want but with snap on you have to wait and youre out of business which youre loosing money.

  • @Assumez The Kobalt does actually make very decent tools. I really like mine too. My dad used to be a mechanic and he used sk, snap on and mac, but kobalt tools are pretty good.

  • @bradsengine i agree

  • @OldSmellyCrotch agreed, but you pay that top dollar for a Lambo you would expect everything that comes with it to be as top notch. and I pay top dollar I wouldn't expect any part of it to fall apart in a year or so. I paid almost 400 dollars for some Snap On line wrenches. and the case they came with fell apart in less then 2 years, now I don't use the case as a tool, no doubt. but as piece of the set keeping them together nice. I expect for the money I paid to get a quality case aswell, why not

  • " Kobalt tools are just as good!", Bullshit,if they were just as good Snap-On Tools would be out of business. Snap-On is for the professional, the rest are for hobbyists.

  • @ferretmunk but you are right, Snap On is aimed for professionals! the fact they make them in the USA, I like that 100%. but average mechanic makes 25-50grand a year. and with a mortgage, car payment, student loan, gas prices, and all the other bills, and 2 kids. it gets a little crazy. my box is filled with all brands of tool makers, most of them US made, yes Snap On, but also Matco, Mac, Cornwell, and some SK, they all have nice quality.

  • @ferretmunk You just basically said that you need expensive tools to get the job done. Not really, I can buy a remington 770 for 300 dollars and you can buy a browning bar hunting rifle and not get a deer but i can get a deer with my 770 and i saved 700 dollars goodness

  • The very same arguments you made about the cost of Snap-On Tools can be made for the cost of a Mechanic to work on my car. Snap-On tools are made in America by American workers, Craftsman is made in Mexico and China and their stuff is junk. You pay for what you get and when you buy cheap scabby shit you end up paying for it many times over. You don't want to buy Snap-on don't buy it. Maybe that Snap-on employee will get his numb-nuts brother in law to fix his car

  • @ferretmunk if people in this country stand by Honda and Toyota's as a great cars that outlast American cars. how couldn't they make a worthy tool? also lots of my Craftsman tools are stamped USA, as of recent I heard, yes they out sourced US makers to foreign markets. aswell as my most recent vid on my line wrenches I paid near 400 bucks from Snap On, the case which keeps them together fell apart in 2 years worse then china made tools do. I also broke 8mm Snap On socket on a battery terminal

  • Overpriced crap! Youre paying for the name thats it. Kobalt tools are just as good!

  • Please check out my newest vid! about my SNAP ON flare nut wrenches and the crap case I got with them! under my newest video upload! I want to know if any of you other techs ran into this problem of a junk case, that falls apart after a year! after paying near 400 bucks for quality, but you get a crap case! nice tool, bad quality case for them

  • kobalt has some good sockets they are cheep and they have a lifetime warranty

  • i have to say 1 thing about snap-on are great tool so are cornwellare to but bluepoint is the cheaper tool of snap on and snap is huge and have il repeat life time warranty (and all are going to saw is well alot of tool have that) well to a extent i bought a craftsman tool set and it said life time warranty so i used to 3rd week i had it the 1/2 3/8 drive socket broke and i broke

  • 4 more time well the fifth time it broke they said we cant take it this you have used your life time of this socket up. so i used one of my dads snap-on tool and it broke he had broke before several time on the 8th or 9th i broke it the gladly said here's your new and i broke the socket on a locker

  • im 11 so idont have alot of money, but i just bought a 38 piece BLUEPOINT socket and rachet set. it was on sale for 20 off so i got it for 50 bucks. i have the exact same warranty and they work just aswell. the 44 piece SNAPON socket and rachet set is almost 600 bucks.

im sure you know all this but im just putting that out

  • @TheMreverything10 hey thats pretty cool, never to young to start buying tools! most kids your age would of bought a video game, so thats cool! I like Bluepoint, my Snap On guy sells them also, they are really nice tool sets and worth the money by far! hey I'm a hard worker, came from a broken home with no money. I had to pay for my own schooling and car. I wanted to buy lots of Snap On tools! but with all the other things I needed to do, they was a little out of my reach on price

  • Dude if you would have looked at the deal you would have seen that you got the other set of sockets fro free. I bought the same set of Torx and allen's And my dealer traded me out of my matco's THAT BROKE ALL THE TIME!! for 350.00 trade so I paid around 300 bucks for the set.

  • @snappyminnesota hey thats a pretty good bargain, I think I still have catalog, only thing free I see was the plastic case it came with, which it should come with a case when its listed over 700, but your right about trade in, my Snap On guy does run trade in half off deals to. but he didn't mention it to me on this one. but this Matco set here was 200, its only 46 allen bits in set. I felt it was fair, Snap On set had both torx and allen, 35 bits total, nice combo, just felt it was to steep

  • @snappyminnesota and I did get a small rail of torx only from Snap On, not this huge combo kit, but I do like their torx bits, they are strong bits, I don't break allens as often, and have yet to break one out this Matco set, but I'm sure if it was matco torx, it could of broke,I broken many brands of torx bits, and yes Snap On torx hold up well. in my vid I compare these sets, but they are 2 different sets, I only like the matco set for price, and wish I had more Snap On money for their set

  • I got a dope torx set from the matco truck. There silver eagle but its got torx, saftey torx, allen, ball allen and inverted torx. It was like 275$ from T10 to T60 and 3mm hex to 10mm hex. great set,but it is all metric tho

  • @95ZR580 hey thats cool deal! you got a wide variety! for the price! I like Silver Eagle series, though they might not be usa made. they are still high quality for the price, why I went with the set in vid, it was a sale when he showed it to me. I opened it up, bottoms of bits nice gloss black with nice gold incriptions of name and size on them for 200 hundred, I felt is was a cool buy for a 46bit allen set. I was missing few before, and never had some of these ones or a set like this so I got it

  • it's a reality I've found to be true in just about anything in the free market.. The more it costs, the better it usually is!

  • @CE750 That always isn't the case, the return is way easier with craftsman than snap on. craftsman when i break it i can return it when ever i want unlike snap on i have to wait for the guy to come around. people think you need a 1000 dollar rifle to kill a deer same with tools people think you need the best tools to fix something

  • @Assumez I find a $2800 rifle works even better

  • @Assumez lol. thats like saying them 250 dollar Nike air Jordans, will make you run faster and jump higher then if you was wearing some 30 dollar Puma's. I hear you, I like Craftsman alot! they replace the whole tool, Snap On fixes what broke in it only, gives you back same tool. But I do like their tools, its crazy Sears is about to go under, lack of sales. my Snap On guy says comparing them to Craftsman is like comparing Chevy to Mercedes, if you ask me, Mercedes is overpriced, lol

  • Snap On has an overpriced smoke machine and uses special oil.Impact wrenches are flat out junk. Some dealers refuse to replace broken tools with the not purchased from me excuse. The smaller sized wrenches don't last, wear out when holding a bolt when taking off a nut with an impact.I like their air ratchets, the only powerful one I have found so far.Plus Snap On does not warranty anything worn out.My father had a dealer that pulled this and still does this to this day.

  • @wafrederick i got a im5100 impact wrench from snap on still works great, over 15 yrs old

  • @TDHReviews My father tried one,he was talked into trying a Snap On impact once by the dealer he had.Opps,a huge mistake.Sent in for repairs most of the time and did not work right. My farther told him to give back the IR231,the IR231 was more reliable. My Matco tool dealer takes Snap On impacts on trade and no one wants them.

  • I also forgot to add this to my previous comment. The irony about Snap-on tools is that it is marketed towards the "professional" mechanic, yet most of them can't afford 'em.

  • @TheBloodySinner agreed unless you work in a pitcrew for nascar, cause I know the average mechanic or tech makes 25grand a year, above average or diesel mechanic 50grand. but guys like me in the beginning who started at Firestone or Monro, with flatrate pay can't even afford a mortgage let alone these tools! but I bought some though in time, like you said common sense, I agree. I buy more so what I would use alot, rather then maybe only a few times. they are nice tools but cost alot for us

  • To answer your question... Yes, I do believe that price is outrageous. I remember going through that exact catalogue last year and seeing the price for that set. Snap-on does make great tools. In fact, I make every effort to buy Snap-on if and only if the price is reasonable for the tool I am after. However, sometimes you will just have to use some common sense with regards to certain potential purchases.

  • With snap on your paying for the customer care as well. A tool truck that goes to your job instead of you wasting your time at a store is great. The snap on guy is at my job once a week so if i need to buy or trade in anything i can. Also with them you can just hand them a broken tool and get a new one. Other brands you may have to ship them the broken piece to recieve a new one

  • @TDHReviews hey I can't lie, I like one other thing about Snap On, they do alot of raffles and have cool prizes to win, one time Snap On guy came to my work on a Wednesday, when he always comes on Monday, he was there to drop off a prize for me, I was shocked I actually won! they took my picture, then posted it on the truck, my coworker won once to, but lol I won,

  • @RANS87IROCZ what did you win? my dealer had a raffle for a big snap on tool box last month. I dont get to see him much since i go to school though

  • @TDHReviews well its still almost hard for me to believe, he came in my work like October 2010, had this payment card, stated if I made my payments on time next couple months, each week payments made, he will punch a spot out, and if I get all punched out I will go into a drawing for some prizes, top prize a 50" Samsung flat screen hdtv so every week I paid him. like 1st week of March 2011, I had then never gave it any thought, he pulled in, came up to me, I was shocked to find out I won the tv!

  • I'm a fairly avid backyard mechanic. I've borrowed the mechanic's snap on tools at work and have a very select few myself. Sure, they work great, but so does my mastercraft maximum set, comprised of up complete metric and imperial, deep and regular, 1/4, 3/8,1/2, all ratchets, adaptors, torx, hex, phillips drivers, allen keys, and even wrenches. $100, LIFETIME WARRANTY, on par with craftsman. to buy that from snap on, your talking like 3 grand, quality is important, but you don't need jewelry

  • @misterbeastliness furthermore, look into SK tools, made in the USA, lifetime warranty, at least snap on quality, and like half the price. Its all relative, flare wrenches and open end stuff you want better steel because it can spread and round off the fastener. if a socket cracks just use your impact of the same size for the day then warranty it.

  • When you buy snap on your paying for the name. There are alot of other tool manuf. that make the same quality tools for less.

  • @vrguy99 thats it! And in time they got to the top with it, I don't know how cause I like Cornwell, MAC,Matco, they all offer nice tools, and even Craftsman. Snap On is a great tool source. I just need to hit the lotta so I can roll with the big dawgs of tools. I'm telling you, you come across a tech who owns nothing but Snap On tools and box! he believes he's SuperTech! just because he owns these tools, and at that he's top dawg cause he got Snap On!

  • if your a student in a tech program at school youcan get a 50% discount on snap on tools

  • @TDHReviews thats a great buy for them! If I was still a tech student at that I would become a part time tool salesman, while in school. I would buy them at the 50% off. resale them at 70 to 75%, cause full price is crazy sometimes. I would of for sure took advantage of that deal if they did that when I was in school. I would of bought more for myself! I like them, but hey if this set was 50% off that catalog price I might of thought about it, still steep for this set.

  • @RANS87IROCZ yea i may start doing that, but you can only spend i think 7500 and i probably spent like 1500 on myself already so i dont know what ill do but i still got a year in highschool

  • @TDHReviews man, I knew they had a limit, 7500, thats a tool box only, or atleast the newest scanner only, and maybe a few tools. but 7500 in tools is a good bit of snap on tools. I search ebay for them sometimes, they sell for almost new, even used, and in rough shape, they go for top dollar. So I think for sure geting a new ratchet at 50% off,and then if you wanted to sell it, I'm telling you it prob would sell for almost price of new. but 50% off them is a nice deal.

  • @TDHReviews You also get 50% from the other truck brands. So, it still ends up being cheaper to buy elsewhere.

  • I'd pay 40 bucks max for that. There are, of course, probably a bunch of intricacies I don't know about.

  • Snap on does not put USA on some of their tools which leads me to believe they are not. And it means a lot to me if I'm paying that kind of money they better godamn well be made in USA.

  • @Mutleytech I wouldn't doubt it, you are right! I have to say alot of my Snap On tools I do own doesn't say made in the USA. or that engraved into it. your on to something, lol maybe just the box they come was made here, and that the tool inside wasn't? but for real I used a 8mm deep 3/8 socket by Snap On, and a 3/8 drive ratchet for it, to take off a battery post on GM car, the socket split a crack in the wall and failed to remove it. I had to go get another socket out my box for the job

  • you get what you pay for. if you truly need a set of $730 sockets, then go buy them. some people have tons of snapon tools they never use. every tool you buy should make you money. if you use bit sockets a lot and feel that they would benefit you, then buy snapon stuff. it dosent matter what name is stamped on the tool. if it works, great. btw, i have that silver eagle set, and i love them.

  • @dontclickthat I really like the silver eagle line, it might not be made here in the USA, I do prefer anything US made. I must hand it to Matco for having tools that are more affordable, though made in Taiwan it does have a nice quality, and for sure priced to out sale USA tool companys, how could I not gice it a try, I can own 3 to 1 at this price, but me I would like to own more snap on tools, they are breaking my wallet though, and also I have broke them just as easy as other brands

  • I have the craftsman profession fully polished line wrenches and I think I paid 60 or 80dollars for both sets (inch and metric) and never had a problem

  • For $750 at seats you can get a huge socket set with wrenches bits and so on even to get a tee- shirt from snapon you hove to pay like 30 or 40 dollars way overpriced in my opinion.

  • @1984Briggs1 thanks for comment, so agree Sears got great deals on tools, and all their Craftsman line socket sets and ratchets and most tools come with automatic replacement if they break. And I'm about to do a vid on my Snap On line wrenches, I paid 400+, for 6 line wrenches! and case fell apart like crap in a year. I bought similar Craftsman set a decade ago and case is still perfect! it never fell apart and I paid under 40 bucks for it! but hey most Snap On is nice, just not the price!

  • I just buy the sizes I need and Snappy is good but I think their quality has dropped and I also believe they are importing some things. Snap On ratchets no longer have USA stamped on them. Look at the plastics in Snap On's screwdrivers. Not so good.

  • hey man thats a nice matco set! i buy snap on but only the stuff i REALLY use, screwdrivers, ratchets,pliers,wrenches....not bit sockets.

  • @DBreed73 hey thanks! I only needed this set a few times, but nice to have. I could of bought snap on ones, but over time like you I just bought the things I really needed. my snap on line wrenches cost around 400 bucks for only 6 double ended line wrenches, plastic case fell apart in a year, craftsman ones I bought over a decade ago for 35 dollars, case still holds all perfect. infact I might make vid on it,lol showing the 2 sets and cases. I like quality tools, but man gas prices are bad enough

  • I have the torx only set from silver eagle Iv had them for 5 years and never broke one. also vim tools has great professional grade hex and torx bits at a great price and i think there made in usa unlike matcos silver eagle brand wich is made in tiwan. snap on loves there tools so mutch they cant stand the thought of parting with them hence the price.,

  • @cptdavidwebb hey thanks on comment, yep snap on stands by there name, I like they are made in the usa, but man I like to believe this is what is killing us, we used to work hard, take pride in it, make things better for less! and everything we made was the best. now if its made here it cost alot, others then get our money cause they will do it for less. this matco vs snap on, almost same quality and more for the money.I gotta check out vim tools, anything usa I do like.

  • I recently had to remove my IAC which had a torx bit. Went to autozone and picked up a swiss army style set of torx bits for $10. For the size of the heads you'll never have to put that much torque on them that you can do by hand right? So just use it as a hand tool, spend the $10, and if it ever does break so what it's $10. Yeah you would have to be insane even as a professional to pay that much when you can do like me and get it for $10. I can fit the whole set in my pocket.

  • @DJDevon3 hey thanks for comment, I agree. and that I can buy 3 times as many Craftsman or Kobalt, or even Autozone tools, which they to will replace them if they break. and yep on spending 10 bucks, a couple times I lost snap on tools, it was like loosing 50bucks instantly, lol I wanted to replace one 15mm long handle chrome wrench I lost out of a set, that one was 50+, I said heck with it, bought a off name one for 10bucks, I haven't broke it yet, does the same job.

  • @IROCwarriorAMC88 lol, you believe to these Snap On diehards believe they are so much greater, Craftsman is damn good tools for the money. shit I'm even happy buying Autozone tools or even harbor freight, which them ones do break. but man for the money they ask is insane for Snap On, gas prices are bad enough,,but lmao I like that HELL no! I bought some snap on in time, lol on loans, not no more.
