This movie was just awful. The X-files fans who love this movie wants you to believe that The Dark Knight and the marketing campaign or lack of it was the reason for the movie poor box office performance. It was bad reviews and poor word of mouth that killed this movie. I hate to say this because I'm a fan of the show but The X-Files as we all know it is DEAD.
The movie was a sad wast of time. After so many years I was hoping for something better and viewable to even folks that never saw the x files stuff before. The movie didn't need a script doctor it needed an entire Hospital of Doctors.
I don't believe there will be another and as for the money. . I wonder if they had only so much and it went to cast. It couldn't have gone into props! If they had wanted to sabatoge the X-files legacy, CC couldn't have done a better job. We expect dark but not dark and cold through the whole thing. Depressing that never let up.

The man was right. We went to see it because it was supposed to be X-files related and boy, it sure wasn't. "Milked it" is right. "Fan service" is an interesting phrase but right on. And that woman was an idiot. There was NO closer about anything! What was closed? About William? All of a sudden Mulder isn't an outlaw but set free for some reason we don't know. Molesting priest? Horror is right.
I was sooooo disappointed by the film. There were a few nice moments betwwen mulder and scully but the screenplay was just so bad. I cant beleive that they didnt pick of wher the last ep ended when they were both on the fun. They should've adreeses those questions rather than making it so stupidly commercial.
I loved the movie as a stand alone sci fi suspense thriller but I totally agree. I would have much rather seen Mulder and Scully "fight the future" that was uncovered in the last couple episodes of the series. I hope that they make another movie where they do just that!
The main plot in this movie to me was an epic fail! Don't get me wrong i love the x files i have all nine seasons but this movie was like a huge stinker. some parts were iight but for the most part it stunk worst than a bums nut sack!

It was great....it had the same feel as the show.....so much suspense and not one gun was shoot. The next one will be more action packed, but i hope they keep the suspense and not the cheap kind.
Well I didn't mind that it wasn't about aliens I mean other X-Files episodes deal with murders and physicic stuff but this movie had like all the murder mystery cliche's. It didn't really feel like X-files instead it felt a lot like an episode of Criminal Minds. It was not a horrible movie but it was not spectacular either. I hope their next X-files movie goes back to what Fight the Future did. That and give me my classic X-files humor back!

They have to make a third one bringing the myth-arc to a real end in 2012. We need to see what happened to Monica Reyes and John Doggett. I do agree that IWTB was fan service, but I'm a diehard so I *loved* it.

There's a lot of people who absolutely hated this movie--I haven't seen it yet; I'm only on season 2 of the show (I bought the DVDs). So far I LOVE the show. I hope that there's a 3rd film that will blow everyone's minds like the series seems to be doing. They can't just end it with this film if the fans didn't like it. They need to end it with a "bang". That's what I imagine the fans are waiting for, and that's what the show seems to be aiming at. Anyway, let me get back to season 2 :)
The positive reviews seen here were probably the ONLY ones they got. Thus leaving out the MANY SO-SO/ Thumbs down reviews. I thought the film was slow & lacking much on substance and not even worth the time to rent on DVD.

look the latest movie was more focusing on the relationship of Mulder and Scully opposed to their job in the FBI. now i've been a fan of The X-Files for many many years, and if you've watched it as long as i have, you'd understand the original plot of the story. rather, then the alien plots that were done back in the Series. so people need to lighten up and try to think "outside the spaceship" xD dumbasses!
The great thing about the movie is it was a little bit boring. Just like the episodes. It didn't go over the top like Indiana Jones (Hated it) Or The Dark Knight (Loved it, but the plot line was lost in all the Hollywood sensationalism)
Yeah. It could've been better, but it set up a really good arc for a third movie. It got Mulder's foot back in the door at the FBI and it made Scully realize where her heart truly lies. It was definitely pleasing to fans. And I think it took it back to it's roots.

i ve not seen the film yet .its apparently not done well in the uk or usa .i did feel that the series standard dropped badly in seasons 6 and 7 and actually improved with the virtual departure of mulder in season 8 and 9 . i dont think its likly there will be another big screen x-files movie . maybe straight to dvd releases are the way to go in the future . also leave the aliens out of it that got dull dull dull towards the end of the series run .

I really enjoyed it. It reminded me of the old episodes during the first and second seasons. I thought both DD and GA did a great joe and Billy Connelly was just creeepy (in a good way). Overall I would say it is worth checking out and makes you think. I really hope we get another one in the next couple of years. This movie left me wanting more.

As a hardcore fan I expected closure or another great segment of the whole alien mythology. the movie to me seemed to be one long episode that could have been shown on TV..No aliens no ships no goverment coverups...I love it though. As a fan it was good to see mulder, scully and skinner again. I hope the next one goes back to the alien mythology and provides closure to the whole saga. lastly for kicks they should have waited till the girls head was off then had scully put it back on. GREAT MOVIE
It was a great movie. The storyline was interesting, and seeing Mulder and Scully again was great... And then unexpectedly Skinner also made an appearance, and I found that to be so exciting. ^_^ I think that it was all around great. It could have been a bit better, but I couldn't really ask for much more than what they gave me. As a huge x-files fan, I was not at all disappointed. ^_^

The movie was great! Finally an intelligent film of the year. It was refreshing. I loved seeing Mulder & Scully back together. Of course this film wasn't for everyone but it was the perfect re/introduction to the series. The next movie--which I hope they do make I think will please everyone especially those who felt this movie didn't have enough action or whatever.

This was a GREAT movie. It had so many deep layers and didn't go for a typical...well, a typical anything. As I read somewhere else, this felt a lot more like The Bone Collector type movie, but all of the messages and thoughts provoked by this movie were AWESOME. Me thinks that this movie might have just been TOO SMART for some. I was mad about the movie when i first came out of the theater, but after reflection I saw the brilliance. I think the 3rd will be more like the t.v. show.

How did this movie stick to the original formula? There were many storylines that were not related to any alien plots, but this was a story about organ harvesting! It belonged to Law and Order or SVU, not X Files.

It was like, yeah he corrupted and destroyed the lives of 37 innocent children, but he told Scully not to give up, so she saved the life of a young boy. Oh wait, SHE DIDN'T! The credits rolled & the boy probably died!
What purpose did the movie serve?
Did it give closure to ANY story lines that ran through the series?
Did it focus on ANYTHING associated with the paranormal, other than a link between paedophile and victim?
Did it do anything other than try to illicit sympathy for a monster
The movie needed a strong subplot running simultaneously with the main plot.
They could have used Skinner as a link back to the alien mythology, and have Mulder & Scully reinstated in the FBI.
Flashes of supersoldiers, alien rebels or Grays would have heated the whole movie...this could have been accomplished by having Skinner meeting with Mulder & Scully to bring them up to speed on 2012.
(The sick kid did not work as a subplot)

I thought the fan base of this show disipated like 9 years ago. Not that it wasn't a great show. It would be like making another Batman flick a decade from now as if it just left off from the second.
I would have been perfectly OK if this was called anything but X-Files because that is EXACTLY what it was and I would not have went in with the expectation of seeing an X-File movie. That was not an X-File movie, show or whatever you wanna call it. That was a love story with 2 characters from a TV show that people happen to be familiar with. That point in itself has RUINED the TV Series IMO.
lol, you really need to stop taking this film so seriously. it's just a movie. you go in, watch it, come out, and decide whether you liked it or not. there's no need to dissect it piece by piece, and whatnot.

If the movie detached itself from the X-Files and called itself "Skinner" and renamed Mulder and Scully "Nixon and Marsh", then it would be completely on its own. And on its own, even without the X-Files moniker, I see this being an every other evening movie on the FX channel for a while.
3. Sacrificing story for characters. This is BIG NO NO. Any writer will tell you that characters are supposed to compliment the story not vice versa. The only exception to this rule are LOVE STORIES. Last time I checked, X-Files TV show wasn't a love story.
4. Now this is going to sound sexist but more women like this movie then men. That should pretty much send up a red flag for any man looking for a movie that isn't centered around when the main characters are going to share tender moments.
1. Mulder and Scully are no longer FBI agents. Good for the beginning to give the audience something to look forward to but they remain that way throughout the ENTIRE FILM.
2. Someone please remind me as to why exactly anyone should care about 2 FORMER FBI AGENTS chasing down organ thieves?
they wanted mulders help in psychics, to see if he was a fraud, secondly characters have always been more important than story, there the foundations that hold the story, without it it all falls apart
Mulder being brought in to evaluate the psychic was an extremely weak attempt to justify the title X-FILES by trying to lend it some tiny morsel of supernaturalism.
Sure, character development is an important aspect of a story but this movie didn't even gain any real ground in that dept either.
They should have just cast Morgan Freeman and Ashley Judd and called it "Along Came an X-file (that turned out not to be an x-file after all)". At least then it would have met my expectations.
I completly agree! There was no character progression in the movie. The movie wasn't even an x-file and the thing I found really annoying was there wasn't any evidence that lead Fox to the bad guy.. he just kind of tailed a truck and got to the hide out, same with skully and dogs...

I watched Hancock earlier, and disappointed by that, I went to see the X Files with no former notions of the movie. Granted, the story didn't have as much of a supernatural aura as the previous one, except for a physic, but it could be seen as a good thriller and mystery. Great acting as well. The two leads really make the movie. The climax was a bit weak, but this movie was probably more on the relationship between mulder and skully.

I've seen bits and pieces of the movie, and I can tell you.... Way better than the show combined. Mulder and Scully are more mature, and so is Chris Carter's directing.

The way everyone (especially critics) was panning this movie I thought it was going to really suck. But I have to say I really enjoyed it. Not a great movie, but very solid entertainment. Lots of complaints that it didn't have Aliens and stuff like that, but it had a psyhic and the enough creepiness at the end to place it above your standard crime thriller. It's X-Files with a touch of Silence of the Lambs! I hope the series goes on.

Everything an X-Files movie should have been, and then they just had to take it one step further. X-Files: I Want To Believe would have been an alright episode but as a movie it's just not a big enough story. There is no personal risk for either character. I didn't like it in the slightest... Apart from seeing Mulder and Scully again, that was about it. The plot was, god awful..... I will never watch it again.
There are brilliant episodes of the xfiles that would have been better as a movie. Why on earth did they have to make it so bad...... Fight the future, was a million times better... And Existance, and Biogenisis... And the truth.

It was great....it had the same feel as the show.....so much suspense and not one gun was shoot. The next one will be more action packed, but i hope they keep the suspense and not the cheap kind.

Well I didn't mind that it wasn't about aliens I mean other X-Files episodes deal with murders and physicic stuff but this movie had like all the murder mystery cliche's. It didn't really feel like X-files instead it felt a lot like an episode of Criminal Minds. It was not a horrible movie but it was not spectacular either. I hope their next X-files movie goes back to what Fight the Future did. That and give me my classic X-files humor back!

There's a lot of people who absolutely hated this movie--I haven't seen it yet; I'm only on season 2 of the show (I bought the DVDs). So far I LOVE the show. I hope that there's a 3rd film that will blow everyone's minds like the series seems to be doing. They can't just end it with this film if the fans didn't like it. They need to end it with a "bang". That's what I imagine the fans are waiting for, and that's what the show seems to be aiming at. Anyway, let me get back to season 2 :)

look the latest movie was more focusing on the relationship of Mulder and Scully opposed to their job in the FBI. now i've been a fan of The X-Files for many many years, and if you've watched it as long as i have, you'd understand the original plot of the story. rather, then the alien plots that were done back in the Series. so people need to lighten up and try to think "outside the spaceship" xD dumbasses!

Yeah. It could've been better, but it set up a really good arc for a third movie. It got Mulder's foot back in the door at the FBI and it made Scully realize where her heart truly lies. It was definitely pleasing to fans. And I think it took it back to it's roots.

i ve not seen the film yet .its apparently not done well in the uk or usa .i did feel that the series standard dropped badly in seasons 6 and 7 and actually improved with the virtual departure of mulder in season 8 and 9 . i dont think its likly there will be another big screen x-files movie . maybe straight to dvd releases are the way to go in the future . also leave the aliens out of it that got dull dull dull towards the end of the series run .

I really enjoyed it. It reminded me of the old episodes during the first and second seasons. I thought both DD and GA did a great joe and Billy Connelly was just creeepy (in a good way). Overall I would say it is worth checking out and makes you think. I really hope we get another one in the next couple of years. This movie left me wanting more.

As a hardcore fan I expected closure or another great segment of the whole alien mythology. the movie to me seemed to be one long episode that could have been shown on TV..No aliens no ships no goverment coverups...I love it though. As a fan it was good to see mulder, scully and skinner again. I hope the next one goes back to the alien mythology and provides closure to the whole saga. lastly for kicks they should have waited till the girls head was off then had scully put it back on. It was a great movie. The storyline was interesting, and seeing Mulder and Scully again was great... And then unexpectedly Skinner also made an appearance, and I found that to be so exciting. ^_^ I think that it was all around great. It could have been a bit better, but I couldn't really ask for much more than what they gave me. As a huge x-files fan, I was not at all disappointed. ^_^

The movie was great! Finally an intelligent film of the year. It was refreshing. I loved seeing Mulder & Scully back together. Of course this film wasn't for everyone but it was the perfect re/introduction to the series. The next movie--which I hope they do make I think will please everyone especially those who felt this movie didn't have enough action or whatever.

This was a GREAT movie. It had so many deep layers and didn't go for a typical...well, a typical anything. As I read somewhere else, this felt a lot more like The Bone Collector type movie, but all of the messages and thoughts provoked by this movie were AWESOME. Me thinks that this movie might have just been TOO SMART for some. I was mad about the movie when i first came out of the theater, but after reflection I saw the brilliance. I think the 3rd will be more like the t.v. show.

What a load of crap! This vid has a few sheople that were clearly blinded by the lights and camera.
How did this movie stick to the original formula? There were many storylines that were not related to any alien plots, but this was a story about organ harvesting! It belonged to Law and Order or SVU, not X Files.
I love Billy Connollys work, it upsets me that he took a role that glorified and tried to vindicate a serial paedophile! Where was the closure?

The movie needed a strong subplot running simultaneously with the main plot.
They could have used Skinner as a link back to the alien mythology, and have Mulder & Scully reinstated in the FBI.
Flashes of supersoldiers, alien rebels or Grays would have heated the whole movie...this could have been accomplished by having Skinner meeting with Mulder & Scully to bring them up to speed on 2012.
(The sick kid did not work as a subplot)
As a fan, still liked the movie, hope there will be more.

3. Sacrificing story for characters. This is BIG NO NO. Any writer will tell you that characters are supposed to compliment the story not vice versa. The only exception to this rule are LOVE STORIES. Last time I checked, X-Files TV show wasn't a love story.
4. Now this is going to sound sexist but more women like this movie then men. That should pretty much send up a red flag for any man looking for a movie that isn't centered around when the main characters are going to share tender moments.

Mulder being brought in to evaluate the psychic was an extremely weak attempt to justify the title X-FILES by trying to lend it some tiny morsel of supernaturalism.
Sure, character development is an important aspect of a story but this movie didn't even gain any real ground in that dept either.
They should have just cast Morgan Freeman and Ashley Judd and called it "Along Came an X-file (that turned out not to be an x-file after all)". At least then it would have met my expectations.

I completly agree! There was no character progression in the movie. The movie wasn't even an x-file and the thing I found really annoying was there wasn't any evidence that lead Fox to the bad guy.. he just kind of tailed a truck and got to the hide out, same with skully and dogs...
some people can say the movie was more based on the relationship between Moulder and Skully.. but half of the film moulders chasing a psychic and then skullys constantly saying "I don't want to do this"

I watched Hancock earlier, and disappointed by that, I went to see the X Files with no former notions of the movie. Granted, the story didn't have as much of a supernatural aura as the previous one, except for a physic, but it could be seen as a good thriller and mystery. Great acting as well. The two leads really make the movie. The climax was a bit weak, but this movie was probably more on the relationship between mulder and skully.

yeah, its like an extended version of the tv episode. But who cares, I just wanna see Mulder & Scully. My fav scene is the last scene between Mulder and Scully when they was talking outside the house...thats so sweet...2nd fav scene was when Skinner showed up (grins)...I want movie no. 3!!!

i saw it the other day...i'd been debating with myself on whether to see that or Iron Man for the 3rd time...after x-files people were saying "well if you didnt like the series you wouldnt like x-files". Once again something that could've been brought to my attention YESTERDAY!

I've seen bits and pieces of the movie, and I can tell you.... Way better than the show combined. Mulder and Scully are more mature, and so is Chris Carter's directing.

i think robert pattenson is perfect for the role and i love the way that he has commited and kristen also is amazing at first i thought that rob wouldnt be good but now i think he is amazing

Awesome Movie!!...i'm watching the X-files series over from the beginning again. Lol!...i loved the relationship with Scully and Mulder in this movie.You could actually feel their emotion as if you were there or one of them. I'm glad they didn't do something completely supernatural,the X-Files wasn't always just about The Paranormal :)...i'm going to see it again for the 3rd time with my friends lmao!!..recommend it to all the X-Files fans :)

The way everyone (especially critics) was panning this movie I thought it was going to really suck. But I have to say I really enjoyed it. Not a great movie, but very solid entertainment. Lots of complaints that it didn't have Aliens and stuff like that, but it had a psyhic and the enough creepiness at the end to place it above your standard crime thriller. It's X-Files with a touch of Silence of the Lambs! I hope the series goes on.

wow I can tell by the comments that this movie sucked its really only been 2 ppl commenting entire comment pages for this video, in by the trailers the movie honestly didnt look to good for me. In my brother was a big fan of the x-files when I was growing up, but I didnt even knew they had an X-files movie out till now. they did a poor job at advertising for it. In X-files fell off at the last 3 seasons of the show. it made me sick to even watch anything x-files after that. good luck fuck faces!

I really enjoyed it but,I was kinda disappointed that it wasn't really X-Files like except for the Psychic and everything and that guy surviving when his head was off,I think it would be better if they did aliens

I am a hardcore fan from season 1. Loved the show all the way up until it turned into complete bullshit in season 9. X-Files: Fight The Future was amazing. Everything an X-Files movie should have been, and then they just had to take it one step further. X-Files: I Want To Believe would have been an alright episode but as a movie it's just not a big enough story. There is no personal risk for either character. It was just pointless and kind of boring. It was much too small. I want a huge story!

I say it was an ok movie actually. But I really didnt think it was x files enough for me...I kinda wanted..i dont know...some kind of supernatural activity like the trailer hinted at? cmon, x files specialized with the supernatural, not modern day...well nvm I wont spoil it. But it left me half full and I wanted more.

critics can eat my ass. I just watched it and it was pretty damn good. Granted, you really need to know your shit regardless of the whole, "you don't need to be a fan" banter marketing keeps pushnig. There's alot of references and back stories that would make it confusing for anyone who doesn't know about the show. Otherwise, it was good. Critics. Fuckin tools.
