  • so hows it holding up? im about to purchase one and do you have to redet the backlash? that it just put it in and your done??

  • @urtwern Holding up perfectly. No need to redo the backlash. Pull axles, remove carrier, install, done!

  • Hey are you near paris,tn thats were I am from . Give me a shout back . Get to gather and trail ride.

  • Is you Dana 30 a split axle and if so who did it do in two wheel drive, driving straight and turning.I have a 91 yj with a Dana 30 rev. Cut split axle . And I was wanting one

  • very nice video!

  • Does this make much noise on the street. I am looking at getting one on a Grand Cherokee. Any thoughts or suggestions would be appreciated.

  • @kens97sto171 Best mod ever! In 2WD, it is invisible. In 4W, it kicks in, but makes no noise at all.

  • @The1930sRust

Thanks.. That's what I am looking for. Now just need to find that Grand Cherokee I want. Cant seem to find the "right" one. Thanks again.

  • I didn't see the use of any thread locking on the ring gear bolts? Does Aussie recommend the use of it or issa it used and not shown. When I removed the ring gear on my Dana 30, I didn't notice any thread lock on the threads

  • @TrekMusic They didn't specify any, and I didn't see any in use either. Don't guess it would hurt. But how well does that stuff work when everything is so oily?

  • is it noisy???? on road

  • @luftwafa12 Completely invisible unless you are in 4W. And even then, no noise.

  • Brilliant thanks, enjoyed that very much can we get those things in the UK?

  • I liked the random cat in the background at 14:28 =P

  • Enjoyed your vid, the tip with the pipe thru the axle tube for installing the seals was great, I would never have thought of it :)

  • @The1930sRust Great help this video was. The install took me a long time but most of the time was spent tracking down the tools I needed. Thanks so much fro putting this video up. It helped immensely. Thanks again. Subbed.

  • this should work exactly the same for a yj right? its the same dana 30

  • @peterkn131 I just finished the install on my 95 yj. It is the same install. I used this video for reference.

  • @Hortgeek ok sweet. thanks

  • I like how your garage and notes are extremely organized, good job on the video

  • awesome jeep man i have one very similar to yours, same year and look . have fun man with your jeep because i am

  • Nice vid on an install. I got my lockright locker the other day and because of your video I feel comfortable getting into mine. Where in west ky you at? I live in Owensboro. Maybe we can wheel at LBL sometime. :)

  • @fastman454 I'm about 20 miles NE of TB near Lamasco/Cadiz. Anytime!

  • Nice clean vid. I now know exactly what I'm up against. It's funny, I love working on my Jeep as much as I love driving her. Happy trails mate!

  • Awesome vid! I've got a D44A so my only two choices are Aussie or Spartan. Heard good things about both, but the Spartan has limitation according to the factory and Aussie says any hp/tq/wheel size. Might have to go with Aussie!

  • just wanted to say thanks this video made my lockrite locker install in my dana 30 on my 96 xj go some smooth man cheers!!!!!!!!!!

  • What type of Impact gun were you using?

  • @ryanpm92 Boy I have no idea. Probably and old Craftsman.... CRAFTS MAN!!! Ah ah ah...

  • Great Video! We installed an Aussie in my rear Dana 35 last winter. Love it!!

  • lol @ 2:57 the look you gave made me laugh

  • Thanks for the reply and comments. I have my new gears 5.13s and Aussie locker in hand and ready for the project. Your video was very inspirational. Thanks again

  • Great video, thanks for the effort. I too am thinking of an Aussie in the front of my JK. How is it holding up? Is it noisy on the road etc?

  • @muenich Holding up perfectly. No metal on the magnetic dip stick yet! Best mod EVER. Duuno why they don't come from the factory with this. NO noise at all. Remember, in 2WD, it is invisible. And in 4WH/L I still can't hear a thing.

  • Really enjoyed the video. You are one Upbeat individual, makes watching the clip much for fun. Wanted to know how the lockers were holding up after these couple of months? and I don't mean anything bad but I didnt see you checking the backspacing on the diff. was wondering if everything was still working and functioning correctly or if u have run into any problems. If you did check it I apologize, just going on from what Ive seen in the vid

  • @warpigs14 Locker is holding up perfectly, and I have taken it through its paces! I am not sure what you mean by backspacing of the diff. Are you referring to preload of the bearings, ring and pinion, etc.? If so, none of this changes when installing the Aussie. Another beautiful thing. It's nothing like regearing, where shimming and what not become an issue.

  • @The1930sRust sorry its taken me a while to respond. that is great to hear it is holding up so well! Yes i was referring to the preload sorry for the confusion. Im looking forward to grabbing a set of lockers. im really torn over spending the few extra bucks and getting an on command locker like an OX or Air or going with the Aussie....

  • Thanks !

  • brake drums lollolol. nice video, just got mine, doing it soon

  • Why did you remove the carrier? I didn't think this was necessary on a D30.

  • It depends on how thick the ring gear is. If it impedes the removal of the pinion shaft, the carrier must be removed so the ring can be taken off. Now, I was simply following directions from 4x4xplor. Come to think of it, I am not sure I even checked before popping the carrier out. But I can imagine it would be much more difficult trying to install the Aussie with the carrier in place. Driving pins out and messing with the springs. Popping the whole thing wasn't that bad...YMMV!

  • Great job showing how easy it is to do this mod. Think i will try it on my 05' TJ. THANKS!

  • axle was a little dirty huh. lol

  • Very nice. Your becoming quite the mechanic. How long did that take in real time??? Tony looked excited as always...

  • Got there about 0900, and hit the road about 1500, so six hours. Had all the tools laid out ahead of time, and the cleanup took about an hour. So I guess really five, and it would have been four save for the inner axle seals. Actually, I think Tony was glad I was there to do the job!
