i want to buy this gun but dont want anything fancy and dont know much about barrels...,does this barrel have rifling like??, i dont need it to have rifling like for slugs or anything, and if so can i still shoot shot out of it?, and is a smoothe barrel just for shot?
@realsixer Head to the gun shop and start asking questions, maybe look into buying a used model first. This is a smooth bore so you should be firing rifled slugs from it. You could shoot shot from it, I would be weary though due to the fact it has the muzzle break on the end.
Do all mossberg 500s shoot the same length shells and if they do can they shoot 3 1/2" . I just need to know for this shotgun.theres no info on the website about shell length capability.thanks
@MrTRESTOON The maximum length of the shell should be printed right on the barrel. As far as I know, 500s can only take up to 3in shells. Mine can only take up to a 3in.
@ccsutoros We all dont have the luxury of having a big back yard or back woods to go shooting in. I was just excited to get it out there and try if for the first time. Next time ill tell everyone to put suppressors on their weapons while im filming a video.
@MrGreenJelly When dealing with new shells, isn't it best to see how they cycle, no? This is primarily a home defense gun, last thing you want is to find out that one brand may hang up more than others.
@frycookking If you've found the gun to be reliable under these very controlled situations, then maybe it's time to throw some speed, techniques, and stress into the mix to see where you fail, and learn so you can be more proficient with your firearm.
@eLO419 -The end piece does not restrict the shot coming out of the end of the barrel. It was made factory like that. In my personal honest opinion id use something else to shoot the bore thunders out of. Why take the risk using something like this when another shotgun will do. Best to be safe rather than sorry. (Anyway its an excuse to get another gun!)
@frycookking hahah true.. well my dad has the mossberg 500 rolling thunder and i wanted to buy the bore thunder to shoot them on 4th of july or something.. im not too sure if i should still buy them or not.. well if i do, il put it up on youtube and send you the video.. thanks for your help!
@Gumbie2009 -I wasn't really going for the time saving factor in this video, it was more to clarify any confusion on what was being shot. And anyway, racking a shotgun is always a satisfying feeling.
I have a Mossberg 500 Persuader and I have shot alot of calibers of 12 gauge rounds. The one's I found had the most kick was the Federal 12 gauge rifle slug, which are a little bigger than a normal 12 gauge buckshot, but the range on the rifle rounds are 75 yrds.+
@ClumzyThief666 i bought the knoxx pistol grip for my rolling thunder... it's amazing the difference it makes... but even the gun without the knoxx grip is still pretty good with the recoil and the muzzle breaks helps weigh it down a bit... i'm gonna try out some winchester magnum buck i just bought...
I figure I put about 50 rounds through it that day, all 1 oz slugs, and my wrist was pretty sore the next day. Depending on what your shooting it can have quite a kick. Since im a big guy i can absorb allot of that, but my skinny friend who shot it got a good jolt out of it. So id say, it depends on what your shooting. But its fun anyway.

You can just stick the shell in the action when it's open and close it and it will chamber.

@AcidfartProductions The guy next to me did a double take when I took it out. Later he told me at first he thought it was a flamethrower, ha!

@frycookking i heard its not a good idea to fire slugs out of an adjustable muzzle?
MyOscarMeyerIsOnFire 5 months ago
@AcidfartProductions the mossberg 500 with the muzzle brake is the mossberg 500 Road Blocker.

do u know if the mossberg 500 rolling thunder can shoot ALS bore thunders out of it?
eLO419 1 year ago
@eLO419 -Im sure it can, the muzzle break shouldn't interfere with the flash, or anything. I may try if it I can get some.
frycookking 1 year ago
@frycookking it says not for the use of screw on chokes.. the rolling thunder is not screw on is it? (sorry for all the questions btw)
