I think that Secretariat and Ruffian both would have left Man O' War or any other horse in the dust. No horse could match strides with those two. Nobody could stay on the same track when they ran. I think that if Ruffian wouldn't have died in that race that she would have kicked foolish pleasures butt and really i mean what horse could win the belmont by 31 lengths against top notch horses. He broke every record poosible and they all stand today. No horse could ever be greater than those two.

Nice video. But I'm 99.9% sure that Personal Ensign was in fact American bred and raced. ;) And now of course we have the very interesting filly - and my favorite horse currently running - Zenyatta. Who knows, maybe she can best Personal Ensign's record? If she runs with the boys and beats them the way she dominates her own sex, she'll be right up there for best mare of all-time. Maybe not better than Personal Ensign or Ruffian, but up in their ranks.

Uh, the records made by Secretariet put Man o War away. Not a matter of being beaten rather the speed and length of wins. Sec's records still stand today. He ran faster the farther he went, like he was faster at the 3/4 post then the 1/2 figure that out. (posts are only reflective of point, not actual numbers)

excelent message! NO racehorse IS perfect. even Secretariat and Man O War lost before. the only horse i ever heard of that was close to perfect was Seattle Slew because he was the only undefeated horse to ever win the triple crown (won it in 1977).

The horses came around the turn,the jockey hit the blinkered horse (Scrappy T) with his whip in the left hand, but he didn't know Scrappy T had never been hit on his left with the whip. They cut in front of the bay (Afleet Alex), and Afleet Alex went to his knees, got back up and won the race by 5 lengths...

No, it's Scrappy T. Sunday Silence never wore blinkers, and this photo was taken in 2005, long after Sunday Silence's time. thats the 2005 Preakness stakes.

If not for a an arragement in his only 2 year old loss and catching a bad track the day of a cautios Arcaro's first mount on him... this horse would have been undefeated through his three year old season... You don't know who Personal Ensign is! She was an undefeated filly, who was amazing. Type in her name on google. And Type in 'Colin racehorse' Colin raced Man O' War's sire, Fair Play, and beat him each time. Both Colin and "Ensign" were undefeated. =-)
