Hehe, sphylinder... MCEdit & Structure Planner, etc. are good for when you have the ideas down and want to see how it will work before going into Creative and messing with it until it works. Starting with an existing image or a sketch, then using Paint & Gimp, then using MCEdit or Structure Planner, etc. is the best order to do it, as you invest less time in making something that WON'T work and more time in things that WILL. Peace!

I did all this for my structures, but I used real graph paper, a straight edge and some basic math. Haha, I'm not sure which way is nerdier, but at least I don't have to alt-tab out of minecraft with the hard copy on hand.

@Surelog I personally found work with graph paper quite speedy. I guess I'd make shorter time with a pixel editor, but not by much. YMMV of course :) As for printing: That's also a good tip, though I think you will not be able to as easily make on-the-fly adjustments to your schematics.

There must be a language barrier or you don't read very well. I use both. Paint for the shapes and curves, Gimp for the close zoom ad other things such as layers, etc.

Make a route like drawing on paint and write how the structure looks like top-down, from the sides and write structure info on the side of the items, i do that alot
