When Venom created Black Metal, Thrash Metal barely even existed yet, let alone what we considered Black Metal today, and they had called themselves Black Metal since. This was ~ten years before the first Norwegian Black Metal release, and three years before Bathory's debut.
If you want a proper analogy, you'd have to go back to the 80's, THEN create that Gangsta Rap album, before the genre even existed.

Venom have some good songs, but for the singer of Venom to say "Black Metal has to come from the soul and be intense" is contradicting himself. Darkthrone arent intense? Gorgoroth arent intense? The guy is a total dickhead. If anything, he should be happy that Euronymous coined the term and it has become so popular.
This isn't about the media, it's about black metal bands. Just because their the creator of black metal doesn't mean they're the only black metal band. They should be thankful for the bands that carried on the genre and evolved it.
If you want to know then, alright but I'm not that good at explaining things but I'll try my best at it. Black metal is a subgenre of thrash metal that consists dark lyrics, fast tempos, screaming/growling vocals, very dark atmosphere and poor production, raw recording, highly distorted guitars played with tremolo picking, some bands anti-christian and some pagans. That's all I can say.

If you watch other interviews, he clearly states that he listens to Mayhem and Burzum often.

I respect what Cronos said, but I disagree with the whole "go find your own metal genre" thing. Venom should be proud on being an inspiration to a lot of extreme metal bands. Also, they just coined the term Black Metal, but the song itself sounds thrash/speed/NWOBHM. Long live Venom!

does it matter who was first personally i will always like bands like mayhem,darkthrone and burzum but we can't deny the extreme metal bands that gave inspiration to the fans that became motivated to go for the extreme and dark music we now call black metal i will argue though that venom seems to be somewhat harsh and crude to say that black metal was their idea entirely for a lot of people probably wouldn't even care if it wasn't for the black metal scene in the early 90's

When Venom created Black Metal, Thrash Metal barely even existed yet, let alone what we considered Black Metal today, and they had called themselves Black Metal since. This was ~ten years before the first Norwegian Black Metal release, and three years before Bathory's debut.
If you want a proper analogy, you'd have to go back to the 80's, THEN create that Gangsta Rap album, before the genre even existed.

If you want to know then, alright but I'm not that good at explaining things but I'll try my best at it. Black metal is a subgenre of thrash metal that consists dark lyrics, fast tempos, screaming/growling vocals, very dark atmosphere and poor production, raw recording, highly distorted guitars played with tremolo picking, some bands anti-christian and some pagans. That's all I can say.

If you watch other interviews, he clearly states that he listens to Mayhem and Burzum often.
