  • This Lawks system makes me feel a lot more comfortable with linerlock knives. Hope they can improve on it in the future and make one handed retraction better/easier.

  • Do you have a review on the ken onion ripple?

  • good vids nutn

  • Needs some aesthetics.

  • Thanks for the review. I watched this and went out looked at then purchased a CRKT Carson design M16-14T titanium with autolawks. I've been a spyderco guy for 13 years. The M-16 changed my EDC preference. The autolawks takes just a little practice. I was apprehensive at first. I'm one hand closing it now. I'd love it if you reviewed it.

  • several options? nutn thats an understatement

  • Could you review a CRKT Hissatsu folder?

  • Having watched most of the "Tactical Folders" playlist now, I really wish there was more of an emphasis on grip over reach and weight for the classification. I may end up going with the Endura if I decide to get one....

  • That's a way stronger looking liner lock than most CRKTs -- I thought it was a frame lock at first. Good! But calls in question whether this knife needs the AutoLAWKS gadget.

Ah, I see the annotation: Nutnfancy removed the LAWKS from this knife.

(So, with the torsion bar removed, and the lock mechanism removed, I guess it's a nice knife! ;) )

Seriously, the one thing that bugs me about the M4 is the slick handle w/ no choil. Bad on a "tactical" knife. Form trumping functionality. :(

  • For some reason ive always seen CRKT as a company that makes blades for the younger customers (probably because of the safety features) idk though i could be wrong

  • here's a rundown of ALL your video's, ther're all informative, interesting, well thought out, nicely edited, funny, and all in all some of the best videos in the community. people don't give you enough credit thanks for your great input and suggestions! :)

  • Hey Nutn, there's a 3.25 inch version now that only weighs 3.7 oz!

  • My edc is a CRKT My Tighe, heavy, big, solid, my kind of knife.

  • this is a really nice knife, i was able to find this one 2010 and this was discontinued great review

  • Seriously, do you foresee yourself "...defending my self in a knife fight....." If so, perhaps you should avoid such situations. Just saying...especially if you have not been formally trained in knife fighting.

  • have u ever stabbed any one or just keep it to threaten or display like if some one tried to mug u would u say get away or ill stab u?

  • @table540

There's a first time for everything...

  • u should defiantly do one of the Ignitor

  • Bro i love how you can say no bark, and the dog magically stops barking

  • This is my EDC knife. It isn't very bulky so I don't mind carrying it every day. I carry it while at work (I work in a kitchen) and have had no issue with the weight or bulkiness. For those who are too lazy to watch the whole video Nutn removed the assist thing from it to "make it lighter" LOL.

  • isn't this supposed to be assisted?

  • @CutleryNovice It is assisted, Nutn took out the assist feature though. (To lighten it, silly Nutn)

  • im unsubscribing nutnfancy...he just never does knife reviews anymore. :(

  • @LedZeppelin13k7 Yeah, he only had two this week. Boycot!! -- Veri

  • @nutnfancy lol. tell him to make them about 10 minutes like he used to. he needs to do them everyday!!!! haha.

  • @nutnfancy Will do! ;) -- Veri

  • @nutnfancy Hey Led, losing you must sorta feel like when a scab falls off.

  • @nutnfancy lol

  • @LedZeppelin13k7 Huh!!!??? Might need to check his page man, I'd go into debt if every knife he reviewed in the last 6 months was only $20, as he keeps re-igniting my childhood knife collecting passion (not that I'm complaining, my ex did!!!!!!). LOL, and this is SUCH A BEAUTIFUL KNIFE!!

  • @LedZeppelin13k7 whats the point of unsubscribing?

  • @ericsyutubeaccount i guess some people just can't live with not being loved anymore :)

  • @LedZeppelin13k7 No he dont have any....... Have you seen his Vids? XD

  • ....How much is that compare alternatives

  • too much flappin your soup coolers bro - too much !!

  • With practice the auto lawks can be closed with a single hand. I use the index finger to disengage the auto lawks, then my thumb to depress the liner lock, and finally the index finger again the fold the blade. Once the liner is depressed the auto lawks system is effectively neutralized.

I do this regularly with my M21-04, no cuts yet. I cannot recommend removing or altering the auto lawks system in anyway; practice makes perfect.

  • I like how this vid is less than half the length of a lot of his newer reviews. Not as produced and it is short, sweet, and too the point.

  • no bark no bark

  • dude you like all knives =D

  • its pretty easy to do it with one hand....after you push the auto lock with your index just let go of it and close the blade with the index finger after you unlock the knife with your thumb

  • I hate it when people bash CRKT (not that Nutn does, he's an honest user) but their steel is well done. Even their AUS4 is reasonably good quality. I cut steel wire with CRKT AUS4 steel, it wasn't super thick but it did it w/t any damage. Did I need to sharpen it? Yeah, I did but no blade damage. CRKT's AUS8 is great steel, they're a great company. Ok, so they're not as sharp out of the box as other knives...so? Sharpen it! CRKT understand that many like to profile their own knife edges.

  • I'm going to get one of these when they come out with the 3.25 inch blade and burl wooden scales version this year. It looks 100X better than the original.

  • I removed the auto lawks from my carson. I have a video showing myself removing it if you wanna see how. Good video Nutnfancy.

  • Dude they excluded the clip change option because that would make ugly holes in the scales.

  • whats the handle on the knife made of?

  • one thing that needs to be mentioned about this knife - it's got one of the best blade length to handle length ratios on the market, you will be hard pressed to find one which packs more blade in a handle this size

  • @EMacXL Same with the CRKT Ignitor T, close it's less than a quarter of an inch shorter than the CRKT M16 10KZ, but the blade is almost half an inch longer.

  • Haha, "It's a great problem to have, don't get me wrong."

  • just boutht one. i think it's a fantastic knife, feels like a benchmade. don't have a problem closing it one handed, but it's definitely not as conveniant as others.

  • I just bought one, and it is NICE. I don't mind the weight. It has tight lock up, as well as great fit and finish. Awesome knife dudicles.

  • I'm very much a fan of CRKT knives, Nut N Fancy - but I'll agree - for the price range, sometimes they just don't deliver things that people are really looking for. Or hoping for.

  • man i so want a one handed opener. even real cheap ones

  • i like it, looks good. that emerson is a ugly peice o shit lol.

  • Question: Considering all those comments you've put it, like advising us to remove the LAWKS system, etc. do you still maintain your 8/10 rating for this knife?

  • do you prefer a serratted or a fine edge for your EDC knife? i carry a gerber armor, if i'm correct, they've changed the looks of it on the new ones though.

  • he has said that he likes plain edge

  • yo can i get that one

  • u can get sum of dat shit online dawg.

    Lol, Ebonics rules.

  • u need to get the CRKT with the carson flipper, the m-16 series and such, get a titanium model, u will never carry another folder,

  • he backpacks too, I think when trekking miles and miles, ounces count.

  • i care about weight when im hiking for hours a day ounces count

  • Its heavy yes to bulky no.. I dont mind a heavy knife though..

  • once the liner lock is pushed to the left, you can release the liner LAWK, and it won't go back down because the liner lock is in the way, then you can use the finger you used for the LAWK to push the blade forward

  • I bought befor looking at your video :P its still light mine came dull but sharpened it easly..I like it.. only 59 and 50 percent off because it was on sale so it was cheap :P

  • Oh wow! This looks like the EDC I've been looking for! Something pretty tough, a moderately steep grind (it looked that way at least), a nice looking clip point (my favorite) and a good lock up. Only problem is the price. Call me cheap but anything over $30 usually takes some convincing myself that it is worth the money and that I need it. Maybe I can find it in a store...I would be more apt to buy it then rather than online.

  • My EDC is the M16-13Z. Great knife, not too heavy or bulky. The M4 could be a great option for EDC, but I like the flipper on the M16 which should keep the hand from slipping forward while thrusting.

The lawk works great with one hand, disengage it, flick the knife slightly which should get the notch past the lock. Or you can press the back edge against your leg, etc.

Great warranty on the CRKT. Lose a screw? Just fill out their form online and they'll send you a few replacements.

  • thanks for the review, although I would've liked to have seen the assisted open function.

Any chance you will do a review on the ignitor, M21 special forces with veff serrations, my tighe or lift off anytime soon?

  • The CRKT M16 is excellent too. It deploys very fast, and the handle has a nice grip texture.

  • you need one hand. practice

  • yo man can u plzzzzzzzz make a millers creek review plz if u can thx.

  • i love the tip down carry, especially on the m16 and m21 series because it has that hilt on the blade

its easier to grab for me

  • someone could tell me if the m4 is one of the taiwan made CRKTs?

i been looking to buy one crkt folder but as im want to colect then,i would prefer to get an american made model.

and i found that a lot of their models come with the ¨taiwan¨ made inscription on the blade.

  • mine says product of tiwan on the box.

  • realy?but CRKT have any fully usa made today in any of their models?

  • nothin these days is made fully in the USA, PM cutlerylover he might be able to get you an anwser.

  • thanks

  • Never liked CRKT. The LAWKS is a big bonus and they have a couple of nice designs but their build quality is poor and they use low-end materials. I guess they hit a lower price point than a lot of knives, but Benchmade can make a fantastic knife in the price range in the Griptillian so I don't think that's an excuse tbh.

  • yup.

    you nailed it.

  • Nutn, try using your middle finger to actuate the LAWK and then use your index finger to close the blade for one handed close. It's funky but you get used to it.

  • I had a CRKT m-21 and loved the Auto-LAWK! yeah... it does take some getting used to, and at first it was certainly annoying but once you have used it a month or two it grows on you and when i carry my other knives i miss it! BTW after enough use you will most likely find it rather easy to use one hand to close it. but the auto-LAWK basically makes it a fixed, NO JOKE. my only REAL complaint about CRKT is the blades hold their edge well but never seem to come super sharp in the pakage. good vid

  • Once you push the lawks switch down and the liner lock down you can let go of the lawks switch and use your index finger to close the blade. But yes it is harder to close with one hand.

Ok I guess KiltPatrick said that already.

  • Yeah i had a CRKT M-16 and it was hard to disengage the LAWKS thing on it, and i hated having to close it with one hand.

  • you should review the drifter

  • You actually don't need 2 hands. I use MY index finget to disengage the AUTOLAWKS, use my thumb and move the liner lock. Once the liner's out of the way, I remove my index finger, and use it to close the blade. As long as you're holding the liner out of the way, the AUTOLAWKS won't engage.

  • Bought the M4 on Ebay for about $65, been carrying it for a few months and it is fantastic! Straight edge outburst version, Fast one handed opening is a necessity for me but when I visit family in areas where its may be illegal the outburst bar comes very easily. High quality, love the weight, it just feel right when im holding it. Highly recommend! Thanks NutnFancy for the fantastic review!

  • Is this the outburst version? Just picked up the outburst with serrations, nice!

  • well i didnt see any tortion bar so i dont think it is.

  • He said he removed it in the video to reduce weight

  • sorry i must not have been listening wel enough

  • aly no bark

  • Really good video. Do you know where I can get another spare thumb stud ?

  • go to the crkt website they will send you one free!

  • Hey do you know if the manual opening (non-assisted) version can have the tortion bar added to it if desired?

  • from what I understand they are all assisted opening, and you can take out the bar spring to make it normall.

  • i ordered myself one without the bar and it came yesterday, it seems like they make all of them the same but they add the bar in the assisted ones. but its a really fast knife so i dont think i will be needing it.

  • Is it up to your expectations quality wise, cause i am debating on getting one.

  • this is one of my first good knives so i could not give you a definate anwser on that. however the knife feels very solidly built, sharp blade, rides low if you use the pocket clip. i've read some reviews on it and aside from nutn's review it got good raitings as well.

  • I get that, I Myself am just starting to move out of cheaper knives, the nicest folder I own now is a kershaw scallion, i have the big buck bantam but that was only 10 bucks, i'm now looking for a higher quality larger folder.

  • Do you know if it's possible to crack those things open and disengage the auto-lawks system?

  • I'm pretty sure you can take it out but you might have to (maybe) replase it with something, not sure.

  • dude

  • i use my middle finger to actuate the auto lawks lever

  • Wat do you think of balisiongs or butterfly knives?

  • Ally! No bark!

Sweet looking knife. That handle is really attractive

  • I have one of these and it is pretty easy to close with one hand. use your middle finger on the safety and use your index finger to close the blade. Mine is assisted so that might make for a different feel. unfortunately it's susceptible to some rust and the red paint on the safety has come off.

  • I carry a carson design M16-14 auto-lawks and not to criticize you in any way nutnfancy but on a lot of crkt knives they have a 4 position options for the clip. Also its easy to close the auto -lawks system with one hand, and i say this because as you showed with you closing technique once you disengage the liner lock the auto-lawks system can not redeploy if the liner lock is pressed all the way into the handle, then you can relocate your index finger to rotate the blade back into the handle.

  • I personally do not like lightweight knives i feel like i am not carrying anything i like heavy knives because i just like the weight its nice to have something monster like in your control

  • Thanks for the review. I am looking into getting this one. I already own a handful of CRKT. I trust their quality. I recently got the M21 with G10 handle. bulky but really good. keep up the great work.

  • Hey, I just ordered the M21 (small) in G10, whats the lockup and blade steel like?

    Cheers mate

  • Very solid and keeps in place. Just gotta get used to folding it while releasing the autolawks at the same time. The SF model is very sharp so be very careful. tears through jeams and skin like hot blade on butter. really!!!

  • I loved my CRKT, but I got into a really bad car accident and lost it :(

  • Hey Fancy,Nice review... Did I see a CRKT Drifter as a pointer? If so can you do a review on it? thanks.

  • nice eye but he said its a CRKT Drifter and he he said he will do a review

  • HAH! I guess I didn't notice haha...

  • Nutnfancy you sould look at Benchmade LFK it a big knife, like a kabar, and its a folder. I not sure how light it is

  • aint a knife expert so dont bag me but what does EDC stand for?

  • EDC = Every Day Carry, a knife you can carry daily with you.

  • Could you look at the CRKT M16-14M?

  • if you had a drill press you could prolly "skelletonize" that yourself. I've done it.

  • Very Sexy knife. Good informative review.

  • CRKT has some nice folders.I had the M-16 gave it away to a colleague.he liked it a lot

  • cool knife Nutn

    i own a m16-10kz tanto

    its a good EDC

  • Great review, I agree nice looking knife. Blade is somewhat reminiscent of a CS Voyager. Im sure would be great for utility. I appreciate CRKT using their LAWKS system. It is very functionional. Thanks for this review. Jet over and out

  • I like it

  • Cutlerylover pointed out something interesting with the M21, in that the liner lock will fail fairly easily without the Auto LAWKS engaged. Wonder if thats the case with this as well? Slick knife and good review as I've come to expect from you. Looking forward to the Drifter review...Looks to be a solid budget folder.

  • Looks like you need to bend the tip of that clip up a little. I'd pay $40 for it, not $60.

  • i got a crkt M16-13Z its an awsome knife and it has that same LAWKS system and its actually pretty easy to close one handed, if u keep the liner pushed out and take your finger off of the LAWKS systemit will stay open so u just push the blade down with the index finger...awsome reveiw dude

  • You should take a look at the Gerber Fast Draw. I have never had a complaint about that knife. 3.6 ounces, relatively inexpensive ($35 bucks), and it's in the right hand pocket or in my hand every day of the week. Its definitely got a bit of a cool factor with an index finger tab to activate the assisted opening mechanism, and single handed collapse. I think you'd be impressed for a knife under $50.

  • don't you hate it when knives attack totally unprovoked!

  • It's a "tool".

  • Thats like saying why own a hammer or a kitchen knife or even a pencil...Have you never been somewhere and not needed to cut something? I pull a blade outta my pocket on a daily basis to cut all sorts of stuff.

  • I have the 20$ walart crkt and it rocks! I can close it with one hand. I do the same thing then press the back of the blade against my leg... Not the safest thing to do, but it gets the job done and I'm careful when I do it

  • "Ally NO BARK!!" haha love the informality

  • Cool vid Nutn! Looks like a gentlemans knife on 'roids!

  • I'd like to see a review of the Ka-Bar TDI Law Enforcement knife as a CQC defense knife for weak side carry.

  • why is the clip where the hand grips thats stupid

  • I bought one, I like it a lot. It is heavy but it is sturdy, well built, opens smooth as silk. It is really well made. I carry my SOG Flash 2 daily, and it is light, but the M4, that goes in the woods with me and my victorinox multi tool and Kabar.

  • Nice review, how much is it for this knife?

  • Around 50-60

  • i close one handed

  • Could you please do a video on your EDC setup.

  • Just use your bird finger for the back lock, thumb for liner lock and index to push the blade back in. I have the CRKT m16 one.

  • I would be willing to bet you would love the CRKT A.B.C Hammond Operator model. It is one of the best knives I have ever owned, it comes with quick detach and molle compatible (plastic, kydex, what ever it is)sheath. I got mine from smkw years ago on sell for 20$.

  • they should make a lock back version, i dont really dig the double locking mech!

  • You should make a custom knife nutnfancy. Nice video as usual !

  • Good idea, but just don't have it made in China!

  • Decent knife , but I avoid smooth plastic handles.

  • Finally a review for the M4. Been looking around for one. I tossed the idea around for a long time on whether or not to get one and decided that if it took that long to decide, I didn't need it. But you're making me reconsider. Its a damn good looking knife. I just have a slight beef with the AutoLAWKS. Just don't dig it.

  • great review

i love ctrk knives & own several.

my only gripe is the pocket clips on almost all my folders different manufactures.

they tend to get caught on something & stretch the clip just enough to make the clip unable to grab my pocket properly.

this wouldn't be a problem i would just bend it back but i have yet to find a hex wrench that will fit any of my knives.

i now have a drawer full of knives waiting to have there clips removed & fixed.

i think ctrk makes a wrench can anyone help?

  • the way you do it it push the lawk down move the liner over keep it over let go of the lawks system and then with your index finger close the blade i believe they say it in the instructions

  • I personally don't like this knife. I don't have a specific reason, but it's not really desirable. CRKT makes some great knives though. Especially the Elishewitz designs!

  • No problem there. Everyone's got preferences and that's cool.

  • I like that knife. Thanks for the video.

  • hey nutnfancy, can you do a review on the benchmade rukus?

  • i asked him awhile ago if he could review that knife. Would be great i just bought it

  • It is on the list. It's a cool knife. Thanks.

  • didnt know they did this locking sytem thanks for the info. it make the knife safer

  • pretty nice

  • allie no bark! haha

  • lol and allie stoped well trained dog

  • You ever going to do a full review on the cqc8?

  • well done as usual, not the knife for me but cool lookin.

  • I have a CRKT M-16, and if someone really likes the knife, but hates the Autolawks. I can tell you that it is not complicated to remove it. So if you like the look of the knife. Just get it. You can remove the Autolawks easily.

  • looks nice and strong keep great vids comin cheers
