@S0What01 The pickup first goes into a sunrise preamp (small like a DI), then a volume pedal, then the amp. That amp is a 1965 Vibroluxe Reverb. There is a little reverb, maybe the springs, or maybe a Holy Grail pedal.
very cool, wouldn't be something I'd listen to frequently but quality rears it's head in many places.
perhaps surprised to hear this played on a gibson acoustic but i like the sound better than what i would expect to hear from say an L4, that's just personal preference. As a bit of a guitar nut i'm wondering what model that is. Looks like The King of Flatops size body but J45 appointments, fretmarkers and such.......anyway - thanks , enjoyed this
Are you using nickel wound strings or acoustic guitar strings? What kind of pickup is that? I really love your sound. I just ordered the Zooid CD so I'm looking forward to hearing it. Very inspiring guitar playing man. Thanks.
Wow, Liberty, that's great. Is there any chance you can post more? There's so little Henry Threadgill video footage out there, and he deserves to be well represented on sites like this...
thanks - yes, thats the general setup for me with that band. but a good bit of the distortion you hear is coming from the cameras microphone unfortunately. I usually have a 99% clean sound with that setup.
awesome stuff Liberty. Thats a real interesting sound you're working with here, I like it. The unlikely combo of an flat top acoustic, a magnetic pickup and a tube amp turned out quite nice. Are you using the setup often these days or is it just for the stuff with Henry?
thanks for posting this. please post more from this if you get the chance.
Amazing sound! So the Sunrise pickup goes straight into the amp (what kind?), no reverb or anything else?

Its a 1956 LG1. Not a super collectable model, but its a really nice sounding guitar. Lately I've been using a Collings 01.
