My kid's Catholic education costs me $3,000 a year. 98% of the graduates go to college. The top students get scholarships to Ivy Leagues schools. The school operates on a shoe-string budget, yet its football team is ranked 3rd in the state and its basketball team won state last year. The public schools spend as much as $6,500 per student and less than 30% go to college. So much for the Liberal "Great Society" view of education. Government f***s up education. Religious institutions are superior.

Why the school is being blamed for school are too big, he needs less than 100 only. He is saying children are ignored in school. In my opinion the problems are with the home of the kid, Every Child needs his own place called home with mother and most of all his very own father to hang on him.

School alone can't make much of a diffrence when kid has no snse of security and guidance from both Parents.

And yes yes and yes! Schools are what I like to call "factories". Think about it, rows of tables that forces the child to pay attention to the teacher (teacher centered teaching), then rules are applied that doesn't allow the child to develop important communication skills (I'm still traumatized by this way of teaching while growing up),

later the teaching is nothing more than large quantities (not quality) of book work and homework which can or can't help the child at all. Schools also teach to think alike and don't allow for unique/creative thought/discussions. No wonder that these children become puppets for the nation and fight against each other for having different views. Time to fight against a system that creates zombies.

I nearly got fired for being a teacher who thought differently in teaching and allowed my students to question/discuss anything. I was able to teach autistic students to read and write as well as learn wonderful things, if they were taught by the typical system they wouldn't have been able to even write out their own names. I could go on and on about the education system and the stupidness that it's doing to the future of this country. Maybe when I get a cam I'll post some videos.

I'm glad you're not bashing on all teachers. Many of us do care but with shitty systems and supervisors many teachers can't teach the way they want to teach in which benefits the children more. This is extremely true in all levels of learning particularly students with learning disabilities.

These children are most harmed by all, due to the system trying to tell me how I should teach them and teach them in a way that stigmatizes them into thinking they're not worth anything. Sadly this low imagery of oneself is spreading through out the other arenas of education. But many teachers, like myself, are "fight the power" types who want to end the system of boxing or categorizing who will be the winners and who will be the losers. Yes this is how the elite stay in power.

Some parents just don't have the time because now-a-days it takes two parents, each with two jobs, in order to keep a house and have food on the table. Not bashing you or anything it's just the truth of the matter. That's why I believe in the grandparent system. The parents could be in charge of working while grandma/grandpa could help out looking after the kid(s), help out the kids homework and stuff. I had grandparents talk to me at parent/teacher conferences and PTA meetings.

Also: fire all education-school professors, burn the buildings, and salt the earth. Begin hiring actual English, math, history or science majors, then run them through a focused course on how to teach children. This is an approach that has been used with great success in countries where its not prohibited by law or unions.

You're right as far it goes. Mega-schools are a recent modern invention; they grew out of government control of schools, which is another recent modern invention; literacy rates have actually fallen overall since schools were "nationalized."

In addition: sell the schools to private co-ops or companies, break the unions, teach phonics first, use an old Saxon math curriculum second, teach everything else third.

Big time, as a teacher, the Union places me in a box full of other teachers who could be or are stupid or have a criminal record. If they do something than the NEWS will state that all teachers are like that but we're not. Many of us do care about education and are good citizens.
