  • Well thank god for decaying buildings. Looks like an awesome game. Never played Penumbra? You're missing out! ;)

  • Frictional Games is obviously the inspiration for this one, so, thanks again Frictional. And thanks to the maker of this one for taking after Frictional and trying to give to a genre that is terribly lacking. Can't wait for this!

  • Then it may dissapoint a little bit that I never really played Penumbra! Only an Amnesia demo. Some ideas might be the same, like not killing 20 enemies per minute and relying on athmosphere. But the inspiration comes more from (childs) nightmares and an obsession for decaying buildings in Eastern Europe :)

  • This looks really amazing! The thing appearing under the sheets is really chilling, and even more so realistic and scary that you can't pull the sheets back. If it was me I'd say "fuck that" too. If anything the only thing I have an issue with is 'Push button for action!' kind of thing, but that's just a personal preference I think is starting to be overdone in horror games. But that part of your game is still scary nonetheless. Keep it up!

  • Looks amazing. I love the Eastern Europe style! I love this different kind of horror, like in Amnesia and Penumbra.

    The graphics are great and I really can't wait! I laughed at the fat woman at the end :P

  • I like it.... alot but one thing i suggest is tone the yellow blurring effect and put some more variety in and instead of a loud noise when somethings behind you make a mirro popout in which you see yourself and your character freaking the fuck out always wanted to see that cause you get the shit scared by the spastic mirror and by the monster right behind you. but its looking good so far and and the texture with the blanket and the fat girl face look exactly alike its be good if it more dirty.

  • 4:00 Typical shock scare, hear loud screeching noise, turn around, monster staring you in the face, yup, this "horror" game is probably gonna suck. Sound are horror enough, but sometimes lack of sound is more scary, and if you rely on these shock scares and not genuinely creepy gameplay then well, I don't know what to say. Plus, I'm sure the music will stop being scary if it's on 24/7 when there's nothing around at all. I'm not an asshole, but this just doesn't look good at all TO ME!!! OPINION!

  • I like the atmosphere and the hook thing. This project can be a success if you continue working on it. I said the same thing for Frictional Games when they released their first tech demo... ^~

  • I'm very interested in helping out with the audio aspect of the game. Mostly musical or ambient tracks, but I guess I could try my hand at sound effects too. I was greatly inspired by Silent Hill 2 and Amnesia as far as the psychology of horror goes.   • The atmosphere is the sum of everything that charges fear into my brain, rusty, industrial, surreal. I hope so much that this game makes it through and is released. Telling from this video this game is one of the greatest horror games of all time.

  • Maglight blurring is too much, but that could just be post processing on the video. A lot of indie devs do that to spice up early builds of games.

    As for the whole "Tap Shift to Sprint", do you have to manually control your character? Or is it auto run. Actually having to navigate is much scarier than just mashing a button and watching a cutscene.

    He's got the atmosphere, audio/music and horror styling right, but certaintly not the whole 'fear' factor of it.

    I hope by the time this game is done, it acts more like a piece of art with a good story, without him trying to push a stupidly large amount of 'BOO I'M BEHIND YOU'.

    But all in all I wanna play this game whenever I get the chance.

  • Dear Silent Hill Team, remember when you used to make games like this? Remember when your games didn't suck? Before you turned your back on what made the first games so great? Well, it was only a matter of time before someone came along and picked up that style/theme. The saddest part is that he's one guy and he does horror better than your entire multi-million dollar team. Bravo, man. This looks almost perfect.

  • Very atmospheric and scary. But I didn't like the QTE sequence and the linear level design. Hopefully it'll have some exploration and puzzle solving like in early Alone in the Dark or Resident Evil games.

    There was no team while making this :)

    But after its release I asked for help on a few sites. Can't fool around forever eh? So far it gave me an experienced story writer, a sound/music composer, and a (high-poly) character modeler who can make a drawing as well. Can't complain!

    Yet a talented (environment) concept artist & a mapper who can draw textures as well would be nice!

  • Motion blur only occurs when rotating the camera so far. Since the framerate is choppy while recording a movie, it becomes far more visible. Other than that, the hand & flashlight shouldn't be blurred at all. Yet another thing to improve!

  • Dude! You did the programming, the graphics AND the sounds! That's some amazing work! Bravo! :D

    The soundscape alone is impressive, with all the grinding and screeching sounds mixed with the constant thumping. You could give some studios a lesson :)

    Although chance the torchlight sound, it sounds like a switch in a room, right now ;) ... that's about the only thing I dare criticise :)

    I whish that was true, but many of the sounds come from Doom3. However, mixing the whole thing with triggers, timing & events required quite some work though. The noisy sound however is more due the recording quality :) Originally it isn't that "crunchy". Turns out to be a good thing ironically!

    The flashlight switch, hehe, is a room switch indeed :)
