GROM USB-iPod: Volvo S60 2002 Interface Adapter Installation

I ordered one for my 2005 Volvo S60R and it came with a ground wire. Where do I install the ground wire? I keep hearing the ground noise loop even after grounding it to the head unit ground and even the battery.

@theweasel1986 You will need to attach the ground wire to the stereo chassis.

I just installed this in my 2006 Volvo S60 which has the premium leather and wood trim. Steps are a bit different. You are going to want to pull the emergency brake and put the car in neutral (or low). Pop the wood trim around the shifter starting back by the cup holder. There are four clips holding the inner plastic trim to to the wood trim. Once the wood trim is free from the plastic trim around the shifter, there are two screws holding the entire center assembly in place.

I'm thinking of ordering one. Thanks for the video! But I want to ask, how does the red wire connect? Is that for electricity? I saw some long work being done on other kit installations.

Also, my HU-650 does not show cdchanger source right now, will it automatically detect the grom kit as a cdchanger? Thanks, looking forward to shop from you. Greetings from Turkey

The red wire connects using P-Tap clip that we supply - very easy to use. It connects to the constant POWER. The HU-650 will automatically detect the GROM kit as the CD changer.

Did you remove the battery before installation?

@megahound You don't have to remove the battery since you do not unplug anything. But if you decide to disconnect the battery - make sure that you have radio code available.

I guess this will work on s60 2008? Dunno why it says that this interface is for s60 2002-2006 when 2008 has same dash??

Can you post a video on how to toggle between USB, AUX and iPod? I've got all 3 cables and need to switch between the three but not sure how.

@xtremetommy We do not have a video on switching. But should be simple. Switch to FM, wait for 3-4 seconds and then back to CDC. Dveice will announce its mode. If need to change simply press >>| button. Repeat last step as desired :)
