I know how this works. When the scarab gets all the way to the end where it stiops mivng, there are pelicans flying in the back ground but some of them are retarded and hit the wall instaead of flying into the distance and they keep going down until they hit the bottom. Also if you have a banshee you can get on top of the pelicans and it will fly to the bottom with you on it

I found that a bunch of times, it's a glitch in the AI programming for the end of that level. If you sit by the Scarab and watch, over time pelicans will fly by and sometimes attack the Scarab. There is a barrier that's supposed to remove the pelican but once in a while that one will fly to the side for some reason.

I wonder if this that pelican where if you sit on one sided of the pelican it goes up. But if you sit on the other side the pelican goes down. This would be at the part where you meet up with the marines in the base.

before the tunnels u bait 1 of the banshees then you slowly with a warthog lead the banshee though the tunnel all the way up to the end and u get into the circle room and barely into the next tunnel near the end then u board it

if done right u can fly the banshee around outside of the underground free as a bird

Hey man you need to lower one of the banshees all the way to the cave where theirs two entrances but you go to the left one where you normally go but as soon as the banshee is about to go to the entrance you go hijack him before the loading and if you do it right you could go anywhere with the banshee then go to the bridge where the scarab gun is.......

i like it but i can tell u how the pelican fell in their. when u get to the part destroying wraiths near marine command post u will see a pelican drop off marines one with a turret in his hands. as soon as it lands jump 2 it and press x it fly you around untill it crashes onto a grey platform it flip around and say flip banshee it will do this untill it flips of the platform and into the water around u.

You get the banshee if you make the pilot fly the banshee in the tunnel. AT the end of the tunnel there is a door with red lights, you have to make the banshee go in there and when it says 'checkpoint.. done' you go in it, otherwise if you do it earlier, the banshee explodes... Its really hard!

i am a game nerd and i can explain this. see this is the pelican in the cutscene at the end of the level wiht johnson in it. if you explore you might not find him but he will apear in the cutscene. there youy answer to your question. i may be wrong tho but i 80 percent sure!

well on my xbox there was a glitch where the pelican was closer to me than usual the it crashed into the wall face down just like the one there and it slid going sideways down. so i think thats what happened there but i dont think it would of been johnsons pelican cause a cutscene isn't "in-game" its basically a movie they animated and added into the level like a movie being put in

OMFG! This is the same as the glitch at the begginning of lv 5 in Halo 1! If you hop on the pelican after it drops ya off and shoot a grunt whilke your on and perform the glitch to get down to the bottom where you can only see about 3 feet in front of you, yuo look around until you can see 3 grunt bodies and 1 has a hunter gun you can use!
