Lots of people are in support of the laser... but have you tried the shot gun? That weapon destroys the enemy bullets too (and does so in the original '1943', as well.) But in this version, the shot gun also auto-fires when you hold the fire button down, making things a hell of a lot easier.
but by 1942 every american biplane was replaced by the wildcat which was replaced by the hellcat, and the only japanese World War Two biplane I know of was the jake.
@RYUCHAN0920 This was a classic game one of my favorite shmups,but i notice that most of the planes you destroy in the game,look like a american bomber planes just with japanese flags on them,also the main plane in the game that you control looks more japanese then american,in anycase this was a great game,the music is pretty decent too.

@Telamon8 There did exist a bi plane in WW2, but it's garbage compared to the P-38
it was called the Swordfish used probably rarely by the english
