What mine does is sometimes just suddenly stop working.

Then I can push the on/off-button to put it in standby, then turn on the screen again and it simply works again...

Which is really stupid, because it acts like it doesn't function, it just won't, but actually it's not really broken as it instantly works after turning off the screen and back on...

My Ericsson has a similar thing. When the LCD-screen goes standby and I press a button, only the backlight wakes up and the LCD after restart...

@CulchaMix3000 get something charp or anything that can PRESS THE BOTTON. If you couldn't do it alone, get someone to PRESS IT, WHILE you are pressing the HOME BOTTON for 10 seconds. Ipod or iphone GOES BLACK. KEEP PRESSING even when it's BACK, and DO NOT release until you see the apple sign. This is actually DISCONNECTING the battery from the phone and refreshing the power again.

@CalebTheObjective there is no way the screen wouldn't respond IF the phone did not receive a SHOCK from an abuse! The screen is attached to a battery. Once you do it properly as i said, the battery will be disconnected from the screen, and the phone will restart by RECONNECTING the screen again, and that's when it will work properly!

If it is at the point where your desperate, try jailbreaking then adding the nolockscreen tweak from cydia. I haven't tested this but it may be worth a shot if the iPod is useless.

OOO I know what happens when this happens, the digitizer comes off a little, causeing the touch sensitive glass not to work with the screen, to fix it, just take the screen of and center the digitizer on with tape ;)

I can fix this issue. It is either one of two issues. The cable has been accidentally disconnected, or the digitizer (touch screen) is dead and you can get a new one for $25 and fix it easily.

ummm, actually you can fix it, either yea take it apart and get a new digitizer and plug it up. but WAY smarter thing to do is, take it to and apple store and tell them tha ur ipod or iphone i doin weird stuff or whatever and tell them the touch sensore stopped working. they will either fix it for you, or give you a new one. this happend to me and i took it to apple and hey game me a brand new iphone 3gs
