@Guardwarriors High speed training LOL. So one weekend a month two weeks a year is high speed training lol. Or as it has become known "One weekend a month my ass" as a comment on the perceived mistreatment of the National Guard reservists.Now the guard is to big and is down sizing and in a effort to keep people from joining they raised the ASVAB score from 31 min to 50 min. Go active.

@Trolls4Food I'm not knocking the guard I was set to join the guard in my state as a 11C 3rd Battalion - 172nd Infantry Regiment (Mountain) all I had to do was sign on the line. But what turned me off was the BS the recruiter was slinging to get me to join. Straight up lies! All tests after the ASVAB as open book! She would put in as two years I would do basic come home for a year and then go back and do AIT. On and on and On the BS was never ending!

We currently have a substantial number of troops serving overseas of which 100% are active duty. Obviously you have no real understanding of how the military works, if you did you wouldn't make ridiculous statements. How about showing some support for the soldiers serving instead? @bobo784 The guard is deployed overseas nearly as much as any other branch of the military, they kick ass and win the hearts of the people the 48th brigade went in and when they left the Iraqis protested and said they wanted the 48th back because the 101st airborn were disrespectful hot headed kids. Not only does the Army National Guard have Special Forces units but it also has both Recon, Surveillance, Target Aquisition units (RSTA) which are equivalent to Recon bats in the USMC who are tasked with operating several miles in front of the main Cavalry regiment...and who have zodiac crafts as part of their MTOE. On top of that, the Guard also has Long Range Surveillance (LRS) units which are the equivalent to Recon companies in the USMC and all its leaders (NCOs and officers) must be Rangers

I am an E-4 specialist with the NG, ive been serving for 2 years, I am an Airborne Ranger......now for your information.....my unit has got to be the most relentless and most skilled bunch of soldiers i have come in contact with....i have served one tour thus far and i am getting ready for a new one...ive served next to marines, Active Army and SEALS.....and they are absolutely no better than we are....for the rest of you Navy boys.....get a real job...try being a seal.....im from an 11B unit

@bobo784 Active guy's don't do a whole lot more in a month than Guards do, at least for the most part, they usually kick around the motor pool or clean their weapon or something like that. We cram the same amount of training into one weekend so each weekend winds up being as physically and mentally challenging as any other training we've done, including BCT or in my case OSUT. The Guard is much more self motivated. So we may not get the respect of the active Army, but we're just as good.

the Guard is the most deployed branch. People don't think so, But I found that out the hard way after my husband singed up thinking all they do is natural disasters...I wish then i could actually sleep at night.

@bobo784: The "amphibous landing" your talking about, is actually the National Guard SF combat diver team practicing beach clearing techniques, and i believe that was SF that did that rescue scene, so yes, you will be doing things like this in the gaurd...........if you want to do Special Forces that is.
