  • Love Johnny and his old-lady necklace!

  • Where the fuck is this interview being filmed?

And I hope that jacket is PVC Mozza.

  • did jonny marr steal his nan's necklace ?!?!!

  • Not incredibly good looking? Whatta lie! They are both gorgeous men!

  • What does Morrissey say at 0.42 that makes Johnny laugh?

  • Eno's Apollo is playing in the background.

  • They're so eighties! they 're so vintage! That's beautiful

  • Lol Dutch subs. I'm Dutch, I liek subs :P

Morrissey and Marr are so damn cute! <3

  • What's up with the weird ass set? Bubbling concoctions and skulls? Talk about totally random and inappropriate for the interview lol

  • come on johnny whats with the necklace fruit.i make fun but i think i like the smiths cause they are "out their" its the little things like that, that really catches my attention.their unique oddball rebelliousness sorta nature is refreshing to me. i cant compare anything else to these guys and i think thats what makes a smithsonian likem or hate them they will never be duplicated as im sure other musicians with try to do in some shape or form.

  • "we didn't need the police,really" hahahah

  • johnny marr is mine, regardless whether or not he knows it. in a parallel world.

  • Morrissey looks like Quentin Tarantino in this interview. Always loved The Smiths and Electronic! Thanks Morrissey and Johnny for their music that helped me through the 80's and 90's (my dark ages) while in LA.

  • Obviously it was too sunny in that studio so Marr had to remain with sunglasses the entire interview

  • that necklace ! ^^

  • "we didn't need the police, really"

  • Only Marr can pull that look off! Super Cool!

  • really cool interview... Johnny's necklace is unfortunate, though.

  • Really? I think the necklace is fantastic! It is brave, honest, and oh so androgynous - it's fashion.

  • @joliveoo But he is gay. It's so obvious.

  • @sirtinycreep I feel certain he is not gay. I believe he is married to a lady.

  • @sirtinycreep not gay. he just wanted people to think he was. dont matter really.

  • @sirtinycreep Well... he claimed/claims he's asexual.

  • @joliveoo I completely agree. This is my favourite look for him. Much though I love and worship Morrissey, I think Marr was the beauty of the band - though definitely not in the "classic" way.

  • Put the skull down, Johnny.

  • Loving Johnny's diamond necklace!

  • marr looks like nikki sixx or summat in this

  • Johnny is so amazing...to hear them both talking about vulnerability is beautiful and touching. Two incredibly influencial yet humble people....eternal love and respect...x

  • Why is "John" Marr so ridiculously cool??

  • "I mean...Its just thereeee" haha

  • what a weird interview..spooky music..hilarious!

johnny is nervous.. wearing glasses and scratching, tapping..

"..and were not incredibly good looking.." !! no true

  • This is one of the more hilarious and bizarre interviews I've ever seen--only in the 80s and seemingly only with Dutch interviewers, do they get this esoteric.

The Police were awesome though (I hate when my favorite bands don't like each other).

  • What did Moz say at 0:43?!

  • He said 'drugs'.

  • Sounded like "trousers" XD

  • Fuck OASIS, SHIT BAND SHIT BAND, don't bring those mediocre pieces of shit up in a Smiths video.

  • I love the way he wears that necklace. It's so sad to me, seeing them laughing together and knowing what was to come and that now they will probably never be friends again.

  • actually all you twats noel gallager looks way to much like marr

  • @mrredskater09 theyre both gorgeous so its cool with me

  • johny looks way to much like noel gallagher :O

  • Noel gallagher looks way too much like Johnny... Obviously...

  • Good interview...nice necklace, Johnny

  • What is with the haunting music? They should have played I Know It's Over. That's haunting enough.

  • brian eno from the album apollo in the background

  • Johnny Marr has got his feet on the ground. He's so likable a person it seems.

  • Is it tru you refused to support the Police? We don't need the Police! Quality!

  • there's audio from a dating show in the left speaker

  • Is Morrissey wearing a leather jacket?????

  • Polyester

  • Guy doing the interview = Bart Peeters, (Belgian, Flemish).

  • 'John Marr', lol

  • Yeah, his mums necklace....

    :)

  • Comment removed

  • We didnt need the Police really.

    nice

  • weird germans trying to freak morrissey and marr its spooky. and whats the need in that constant woooo! in the background :s

  • it's not German, it's Dutch or Flemish...

  • and the music in the background was made by a british guy - brian eno. no foreign hauntings going on here

  • background music by brian eno.

  • would you happen to know the track names?

  • i s called in a secret place.

  • from the album atmospheres and soundtracks.song is by daniel lanois, arranged by brian eno.

  • Well noticed, silversurfer

  • excellent and creepy? interview of the 2 men who kept the 80's (as far as I know) musically interesting.

  • though the smiths are undoubtedly excellent there were many other 'musically interesting' acts and trends throughout the 1980's, just take the slightest look below the surface.

  • leather jackets and dead animals? doesn't seem like The Smiths to me. fine interview though. But a little odd?

  • yes thank you indeed.

  • are you crazy? these little gems that have been lying about for 20 years on tape somewhere are priceless to see. I am so grateful when people share them. It was 20 years ago or something!! its not going to be HD perfect. Jesus talk about ungrateful.

  • I'd rather see it as it is than not at all! The quality isn't too bad. Thanks for sharing vicarinatutugal.x

  • What does Morrissey interrupt Marr with at 0:44, that makes them all chuckle?

They appear to be trapped in a B-grade horror movie.

  • Drugs? Heavy drug use in Manchester.

  • It sounds clearly like 'trousers' to me, which would certainly raise more of a titter than 'drugs'.

'The time was right for someone to come along without any trousers'

  • this is truly the oddest interview I have ever seen...why is johnny marr holding a skull? whats that music? are they in a dungeon?

  • The music is Brian Eno, i think. If it matters. :)

  • I keep expecting a vampire to jump out at them.

  • i really don't care for morrissey anymore especially with his politics. I dont care to buy anymore music from him.

  • can anyone tell my why there is smoke and scary music and it looks like they're in a museum???

  • I love how Johnny holds that skull through the whole interview. He probably took it home with him. XD

  • What's with the background music in this? It sounds like they were interviewed on the set of a horror film from the sixties?

  • Brian Eno's "The Secret Place."

  • Nice necklace, Johnny.

  • So rare and special to have pop stars being so honest, real and intelligent.

  • Who would ever want The Police? Well said mate - and thanks for the poster for posting this gem!

  • "we're not incredibly good looking." HAHA! That's a good one.

  • Morrissey is the best. What he said about the difference between creative people in the spotlight and creative people who are ordinary is spot-on.

  • @judoapples

What exactly was he trying to say about that? I had a hard time following him... It seemed like he wasn't answering the question.

  • I think he's saying that there are talented people everywhere, but that our society, unfairly enough, only recognizes those who become famous. For example: say you listen to a Morrissey song, and really like the lyrics. If your reclusive neighbor wrote those lyrics, would they be impressive? Maybe not, because your neighbor doesn't stand on stage with a mic, and maybe he's homely, etc. Morrissey is saying that he isn't inherently talented, he just happens to be recognized for this talent.

  • "we don't need the police, really."

    hahhaha yes

  • I think Bruno did a great job w/ this interview. Can't wait for that episode of Funky Zeit to air!

  • could somebody tell me what are they talking about?? because i cant understand them, because im not english and it is very difficult to me :(

    thank u!!

  • LEGENDS.

  • 00:42.

    John Marr?! O_O

  • never joined the church choir?

    certainly not. no.

    love it!

  • it's a belgian t.v youth program called pop electron dated 1983;they perfomed what difference does it make..i still now because it was the first time i heard them and they blew me away..

  • Germany isnt tasteless. Actually nowhere is cos there are tasteful people everywhere even in England. After all the Smiths are from there.

  • They are the smiths. But in Germany. The most tasteless country there exist. okfo

  • Before I even view this interview.......let's THINK about the MUSIC .....not dress sense....

    mmmmmmmmmm k?

  • this image of johnny marr is so clear how noel gallagher was influenced by him. he basically copied his look entirely

  • I wish Noel would wear pretty necklaces like that more often...

  • he does

  • ....I love how Eno's 'The Secret Place' is playing in the background. Random as it gets.

  • i liked jhonny marr`s necklace, and moz is laying on this interview, whe he says they`re not good-looking,you can see he`s trying not to laugh.

  • LOVE the bling, Johnny....

  • What a weird interview....I keep thinking Mike Joyce is going to jump out snarling and brandishing claws or something.......

  • LOL at that image

  • marr is just like me xD

  • Let me stand you correct, it's " The Schmidts" a Smiths tribute band (not a 'German' tribute band, silly ) and they're from Pittspurgh, PA. That's why they look so bloody sophomoric.

  • Pittsburgh, PA! I lived there for the worst year of my life last year and never heard of them. I'd get out if I were them. I don't blame Moz for not playing that wretched city in so long! I will never go back there as long as I live!

  • pittsburgh has a manchester and we got 3 rivers the smiths did play here at the fulton. you must have been stuck at college in oakland didnt get out much pittsburgh is not for theboobytwins

  • You fool,

Let me stand to correct you.

Its the Smiths. An 80s indie/ pop band from Manchester in England. That's why they look like Morrissey and Marr, because, infact, they are...

  • ummm.... i wasn't being serious, where's ur sense of humor ?

  • Ah, the autism of online messages?

I truely thought you were a cretin for a minute, did serve to make me giggle none-the-less mind...

  • what in the living bloody hell, lmfao!

  • That wasn't The Smiths, that was The Smitz... a German tribute band from Milwaukee, Wisconsin.

  • Creepy music!

  • its o.k to wear leather! no-one suffered for the fashion statement!

not firing on all cylinders is he.

  • 'tis a strange thing, but mr morrissey does look a bit like the lead singer of REM, or am i wrong? hmm.....

  • lol yeah, what kind of interview setting IS this? Its like a haunted house.

  • wow... O.O that was really scary and made me nervous...

what was with the set and the noises?? not to mention all the skulls and things and it kept flashing to..

  • Do you get the feeling that the interviewer was planning to murder the two of them afterwards? I get that impression. Probably just the uber-weird setting. Lolz.

  • Yeh, he used to wear leather shoes, as he said there was no other suitable alternative, (which at the time there wasn't really) but I don't think he'd wear a leather jacket, as it's kind of unecessary, whereas shoes are necessary.... but you never know!

  • I think it's probably real leather he's wearing, since he did wear real leather during the time of The Smiths (he doesn't anymore).

  • I don't think Morrissey would wear a leather jaket, it looks more like PVC though to me... the kinky bastard! lol, bless him I love this interview, Moz's is just so charming!

I can't believe he said something about them being incredably attractive... I think he needs a new mirror! lol

  • Firstly, if you listen carefully, he says, "you don't have to be incredibly attractive".

And secondly, I find him incredibly attractive ;-)

  • I've never seen a Smiths interview that wasn't unsettling some how.

  • Smart vid, fuckin' wierd set though.

  • The thing about Morrissey is that he says something, and it's delivered in such a direct (some might say smarmy) way that I want to dismiss him. But then I think about what he just said, and every time I realize, well, yeah, you know, he's right. They DIDN'T need the Police. Those guys sure made it fun to be a music fan.

  • hahaha we didnt need the police really.. morrissey never changes

  • I hope that is fake leather Morrissey is wearing!

  • if you express yourself,be creative and mean every word of it you will shine.rock n roll brings out the beauty in everyone who embraces it and wields it.

  • "you're just totally insane" LOL

  • Beautiful!

  • i LOVE this

  • "We're not incredibly good looking"...

    This is lovely.

  • This...is...strange. What is up with the freaky setting? The creepy music? Johnny holding a skull? The desultory interviewer?

I feel like something scary should happen.

    Johnny's very cute here.

Ok well I still loved it.

  • The music is actually from Brian Eno's Apollo Soundtracks album.. it's a bit of a weird choice alright.

  • HA!HA! That set is the best ever. Thanks.

"We didn't need the Police, really..."

  • This is the weirdest video ever.

It's like a Rammstein concept film.

  • Haha, are they in a science lab or haunted house or something? Great interview all the same.

"We're not perfect. We have faults. We're not incredibly good-lookng, but so what? We're going to do it anyway."

  • Yes they are incredibly good looking.

  • brillant

complete and utter piss take from beginning to end

  • Isn't everything concerning Morrissey and interviews? xD

  • haha cool.

  • bizarre INDEED

    TNX FOR POSTING THIS!

  • Freaky setting - Johnny Marr fiddling with a skull, not something you see every day xD. They both look beautiful, love the matching leather jackets and the giggling. Excellent chemistry, those two!! :P Thanks for posting, vicarinatutugal xx

  • Love "John Marr's" necklace~a bizarre interview!
