I think his best performance was in "The Assassin", as Miguel Bain.
It was worthy of a nomination, I think. Shameful how overlooked his performance was.
I'm guessing it was like "eeww, it's a Stallone movie. Dear god, we couldn't possibly nominate anyone from a Stallone movie. Then we'd have to acknowledge Stallone. The mere thought..."
