You weren't outnumbered. Actually you had more powerful fleet than your opponent. Karnak Assailant it's long-range friagate that counters light frigates like Cobalt (deals more damage agains them). And you had 2 capitals, including the toughest ship in the game - Kortul

You guys should use the TSOP (The Sins Optimization Project) mod. Textures are sized down and DDS files are used instead of TGA. Basically reduces RAM usage in large maps with lots of fleets by 500+ MB and reduces lag. No core gameplay changes or stat changes.

The Vasari have the strongest individual ships, the ressource cost is actually higher for your fleet than the puny, one-dimentional Terran fleet you beat.

ahh this is an old tactic i use always vs cap spammers. few people realize that powerful as they are a cap ship is very weak alone cause a swarm of frigates will take it out and if you escort your cap ships with frigates and the frigs will draw out fire and your capships wont go down like flies

There really is NO point to the video at all. This isn't a communal "This, is HOW to fight outnumbered!" - It's more of a "Hey, i've used a trainer, given my ships better armour, more firepower... and I can take out more ships... Watch... THIS is how to fight outnumbered!"

He's using a race with strong early-game ships, he's got a fleet of 40-ish missile frigates, which are MADE to destroy light frigates effortlessly, and he's got two capital ships. This is about as impressive as 40 cops and a pair of Navy Seals fighting off 60 unarmed thugs. It's not something to brag about, it's boring and predictable.

Xfire is good for recording good quality in-game video and doesn't create much lag. At least it doesn't for me. The video file tends to be quite large which is the main drawback.

online the rules have become simple, advent needs to spam illumintaors, vasari spams kanraks but tries to attack faster than the advent so they can kill them with the slight advantage they have int he beginning, no one in good games even plays TEC anymore

heres what i do, all my capital ships are lvl 10 dreadnoughts.......when i get into a fight with say...5 dreadnoughts versus o...200 lets say pirates, i win in maybe 15 seconds, but thats if i take long...(dreadnoughts lvl 6 attack hits EVERYTHING in a radius around it 25 times with missiles...OVERKILL MUCH)

@austiiiiiin Sins is very good in multiplayer. There's so much scope in it that each player has different strategy/tactics making it more interesting than against the computer. Co-Op against several comp sides set to Hard is good fun too.

I usually send in a huge fleet of crappy ships to make them believe its their main fleet versus mine. I let them win, and make half of the fleet retreat to a "random" location, which is actually filled with mines, starbase, turrets, and my real fleet. They are stuck there do to my gravity reducer, and are quickly deystroyed, lol.

(usually makes em bring in the main fleet) then once they are busy dealing with the grunts, i send in 2 fleets, close and long range ships, the close go in and start pissing off the enemy and my long rangers come in from the other side, they then deal with the structures then capital ships, the whole operation usually last 3 mins. lol. i defeated a guy with 5 capital ships and loads of cruisers that way.

I always find building shit loads of advent anima transporters works wonders, seeing as they have double the squadron size of vasari transporters. Add in a few crusaders for close combat, and a few anti strike craft ships, plus 2 radiance battleships and you have a quality fighting force.

You had the range of your karnaks and the level of your capital ship going for you. I myself usually warp in a group of frigs, like 3-6 to kite the fleet around, then bring in my main force and cut off thier escape route with faster ships.

What I do when I'm going against AI(Haven't setup for Multiplayer yet) and am outnumbered,I go suicide mission to kill their capital ships(usually their carriers if they have them) and then get the hell out of the gravity well.

Usually a few frigates and my capital ship survive.

It looks like "Disintegration" by the Vasari sect. Im not completely sure, I only use TEC, so Im prolly wrong...but you might have to experiment. if you want you could use the cpu on single player to find the vasari ship that capable of that ability. lsterz

eitherway, its either the marauder capital ship or the devastator capital ship. after all those are the only two vasari capital ships there.

and as for researching abilities for capital ships? i don't think any capital ship gets a "ability" or "attack" via research, just increase in shields, regen, armour, weaps etc etc.

the reason for the finding out on their own, say you use a good tactic, and your playing against someone whose good or insane AI's and the tactic fails, without knowing every ships high point and low point, you'll not be able to recover from it.

oh dude, you must be new...you cant research any cap skills on the tech tree, you have to reach lvl 6 with any cap to get their special ability, and the other guy is right, its either the marauder or the devastator...i mean of course a lvl6 marza would kill, but we cant all be winners...

depends really on what version of the game you have, also wether its entrenchment or not. xD

a few things to look out for, you can lose a planet via culture if your not too carefull, broadcast centers need to be made, not too soon but better off not too late.

dont forget that trade ports and refineries can really help with income.

as for combat, i don't really like to help people with it, i believe each person should find out what works and doesn't on their own.

Fraps is capable of being very good software it's just you don't have the settings right, your computer isn't of high enough quality (Fraps is a huge drain on FPS for me), or both. I can't really comment on the "video" it was hard to watch.

Not only was that a slideshow, but you weren't really outnumbered at all. Sure, the other guy had more ships, but you had TWO capital ships, and most of your ships were designed by the game creators to be STRONG against ALMOST ALL of the enemy fleet. This was merely a case of knowing your enemy and knowing yourself.

He let them cluster up, then fired Volatile Nanites into them which is probably what did the trick. Although all those Assailants are probably what really overpowered those Cobalts. Plus, those Cobalts had no back up. Still though, quite awesome and good timing.
