i don't think boney m can claim to be the original of Sunny. Their version came out about ten years later after a boat load of versions had been recorded. That said, the Boney M version is a good version with great disco strings arrangement.
@LordNekromurderer .. story goes with the song: Hebb and his older brother performed as a song-and-dance team in Nashville, beginning when Bobby was three and his brother was nine. On November 23, 1963, the day after John F. Kennedy's assassination, Bobby's bro was killed in a knife fight outside a Nashville nightclub. Bobby was devastated by both events, he wrote the song as an expression of a preference for a "sunny" disposition over a "lousy" disposition.
This was my favorite song in 1966 (I was young). It's a song about love, not just sex. These days It makes me think of a beautiful friend in Moscow. Sex is good but love is better. It is the reverse of the colloquialism that is true: Love with sex is great but love without sex is still pretty good. Herbie Mann got me listening to jazz in '70 with his wonderful "Memphis Underground" song. That song took me to Larry Corryell which led to Gary Burton...Pat Metheny and on and on. Greg Gibbs
@6664818GGG This reminds me of a very sweet & handsome German exchange student on the swim team with me, we went & saw H.Mann at a FREE concert in Central Park (early 70's) I was in my teens then. And yes, it was about one very sweet kiss, one that I've obviously never forgot...Thx Mr. Mann.
Herbie Mann's type of flute playing makes me glad he influenced me in taking flute lessons in1983; I've been playing since. Mr. Mann's interpetations and talent inspire the musician in me to keep the flute alive in my life. Thank you, Herbie Mann, for giving us all the beautiful music and bringing the flute to so many people's lives. Tom Forbes 12-4-2010
I had an album by Herbie called "Latin Fever". I gave it to one of my flute students and have not been able to find it since. If any one could post, it would be great. Some of his finest work in my opinion.
Right,man..it´s Richard Tee..also the unmisstakeable sound of Eric Gale-git. and Chuck Rainey-el.bass..but LP-title..maby Push Push, but I´m not sure.Great music!! Thanks for posting.

For me this makes me think of New York in the late 60s, cruising in my dad's Pontiac. Simpler times.
