hi Jerry. what's the program u use to record as video what was occuring on the computer? cant use webcam for that purpose because the result is crappy. ;)
Why would someone say women can't play chess? Cmon thats just ridiculous. Did you see Jerry's video of susan polgar vs shirov? One of my favorite games. She is a fantastic player.
Glad to see a 16 years old Chinese prodigy to win this title, it means a lot that chess belongs to the world and shall be not dominated by the Western world.
@benshwu What do you mean "not dominated by the Western world"? It IS and always has been and always will be. No one even takes women's chess seriously. That's why it's called WOMEN'S chess! Why should they even have a seperate women's league? Are they genetically disadvanaged?
At 10:27 why doesn't the white rook on e1 take e3, instead of the queen? I was thinking that would allow the rook to swing to g3, maybe followed by queen h6? Thanks for the great video.
I always look forward to your videos, I learn so much from them because you're great at explaining the reasons behind the moves. Thank you so much for making them, we really appreciate it. Also thanks Jerry for turning us all into better chess players!
Can you do a video on Anish Giri? He is also a young (16) chess player and is the worlds 52nd, he just beat magnus carlsen at the Tata steel tournament in Wijk aan Zee.
Thanks Jerry. Your commentating helps a lot. Most other commentators don't bother explaining some moves which are plainly obvious to them, but don't make sense for us beginners and intermediate players at all.
Great - thanks a lot, I really appreciate this. Since money is a little tight these days, I'm looking for ways to improve my chess through videos instead of a tutor, seeing the analysis is incredibly helpful. Really appreciated and great job.
Actually, one of the Polgar sisters has won a high quality men's tournament in the last 400 years. It was in Spain, I believe. The women will catch up.
Why are there separate divisions for women and men in Chess? I mean for sports it's obvious that men have many physical advantages, but aren't men and women pretty much on a level playing field when it comes to the brain?
Apearently not. Men are usually better at chess than women. This could have a number of reasons like women hardly play chess or atleast are vastly outnumbered by men. For this reason they decided to have a seperate womens only championship.
Of course you dont have to participate, for example judit polgar has never played the womens championship instead prefering to play with the top ranked men.
regarding the variations you show at about minute 18: i think it is important to point out that white is winning because his king gains the opposition towards the black king. this way the black king is forcibly driven back into his own half of the board and the loss of pawns is inevitable. you somehow show that this is the case but the term "opposition" sums it all up ;)
but nevertheless i enjoyed your commentary! looking forward to more videos :)
oh well, my comment was meant to be instructive to other players who are not familiar with the concept of "opposition" and not to criticize this video. if you feel offended by this then i'm really sorry.
The doubled black c-pawns lose in all endgames, no?"
I think so. I think she was thinking after the exchange of queens the white bishop would be pinned. I can't see any other reason for her to have made that move.
haha! PACMAN MODE!! great commentary man. I like how you tell your thoughts too. keep up the good work :). and btw: can't wait for our facebook fan page game video :)
What about f6 or c6 at 19:20 ?? Playing those moves out by myself and 2nd time with computer, I found out that while both being losing moves (As there isn't any winning move for black with perfect play!!) the mating net comes after 25+ moves. And that's with perfect play.
After f6 or c6, white's better avoiding the exchange since it would undouble the paws. White has moves like Ba6 or h4. Black has no intention of capturing the bishop plus black has walled white king from king side pawn play.
Thank you for these videos. They are helping me think of different lines in my game. I am also glad that you explain these great games so simplistically. It helps me out a lot. Keep them coming!
I really love games like this that I can relate to myself because after watching Bobby Fischer videos, I find that they don't help me much when it comes to my personal middle games, since his were always something out of the ordinary.
at 11:20 I'm thinking that not moving the a8 rook is good because you allow it to support a pawnstorm on white's queenside. Opposite side castling that's generally the idea- each side storming the other.....
@Voiceoftheunheard The time control is 90 minutes for 40 moves, followed by 30 minutes for the rest of the game, and a 30-second increment per move as of the first move.
Great explanation of the endgame, keep on doing explanations like in 16:40.
Liked and Subscribed.
