  • Great explanation of the endgame, keep on doing explanations like in 16:40.

    Liked and Subscribed.

Why are you doing that great amount of work?

  • thank you

  • Damn Chessnetwork's voice is too monotone to keep me interested in his commentary.

  • What is her record since she has become world champion?

  • no adds!

  • hi Jerry. what's the program u use to record as video what was occuring on the computer? cant use webcam for that purpose because the result is crappy. ;)

  • It's a screen recorder.

  • Zugzwang...

    Not "zug-zwang".

    "Zootzfang"

  • in the opening when the bishop was played at e3 instead of h4 why did not the knight challenged bishop by ng4?

  • @pulkitjainful Maybe just Bf4 and the knight on g4 looks silly.

  • @ChessNetwork cant the bishop take the queen if u do that?

  • Why would someone say women can't play chess? Cmon thats just ridiculous. Did you see Jerry's video of susan polgar vs shirov? One of my favorite games. She is a fantastic player.

  • Excellent analyses, thanks a million!

  • Thanks so much good sir, to thank you I will find you and leave a mint on your pillow

  • most fluent commentator...bravo

  • thanks for great commentary

  • at 20:23 what happens if black plays c4

  • Black lost the game after Qc5.

  • Glad to see a 16 years old Chinese prodigy to win this title, it means a lot that chess belongs to the world and shall be not dominated by the Western world.

  • @benshwu What do you mean "not dominated by the Western world"? It IS and always has been and always will be. No one even takes women's chess seriously. That's why it's called WOMEN'S chess! Why should they even have a seperate women's league? Are they genetically disadvanaged?

    Tom David

    Minneapolis

  • @TomDavid88 I'm all for Western dominance or whatever you want to call it, but "always will be"? Where do you get such logic from?

  • I definitely got something out of it! I subscribed.

  • what a boring game...french defense losing for black right from the get go..

  • @BobbyFischer0000 That's how women play- BORING! They can't play chess.

    Tom David

    Minneapolis

  • @TomDavid88 Wow- I've never seen anyone so ignorant and sexist on the internet before.

  • @TomDavid88 even if it's boring, that doesn't mean they can't play chess...

  • At 10:27 why doesn't the white rook on e1 take e3, instead of the queen? I was thinking that would allow the rook to swing to g3, maybe followed by queen h6? Thanks for the great video.

  • I always look forward to your videos, I learn so much from them because you're great at explaining the reasons behind the moves. Thank you so much for making them, we really appreciate it. Also thanks Jerry for turning us all into better chess players!

  • Hey jerry,

Can you do a video on Anish Giri? He is also a young (16) chess player and is the worlds 52nd, he just beat magnus carlsen at the Tata steel tournament in Wijk aan Zee.

    Very promising kid.

  • hou yifan is real women chess champion!

  • to sum this video up, black really shouldn't have exchanged queens.

  • At 5:02 why cant black play Ng4? Bd6 is little weak !

  • At 5:02 why cant black play Ng4? Bd6 is little weak !

  • good luck to her

  • ...Qc5 lose the game for black, i watched the game live and still remember that quasi blunder

  • What was Black thinking changing off the queens and getting a hopeless endgame?

  • Very instructive, as always. Thank you!

  • awesome video thanks !

same colored bishops endings are very tricky !

  • zugzwang :D

  • 'going into PacMan mode!' Love it!!! Perfect analogy!!!

  • All hail CHINA

  • great commentary

  • The volume is very low... Could you fix this please?

  • Very nice video. But please work on your pronounciation of "Zugzwang" ;)

  • Thanks. As always great job.

  • thanks man. I feel that I owe you some cash too for all your hard work. one of these days... :)

  • Thanks Jerry. Your commentating helps a lot. Most other commentators don't bother explaining some moves which are plainly obvious to them, but don't make sense for us beginners and intermediate players at all.

  • amazing video, thanks man

  • 4:42 SUPER KNIGHT POWERS!

  • great video but still what if opponent plays 1. e4 e6 2.e5 ??

  • jerry i really appriciate your english ;) im from germany and i understand everything! ;)

    thx a lot ;)

  • ah awesome^^ I seen 5 wrong moves I´d done ^^ . I´m to greedy^^ great vid Jerry!

  • great stuff thx for commenting !!

  • Excellent video. Your commentary is superb. It is clear that you really put time and thought into your videos, and it's much appreciated.

  • LOVE your vids!

  • nice vid im from Guatemala....

  • Great - thanks a lot, I really appreciate this. Since money is a little tight these days, I'm looking for ways to improve my chess through videos instead of a tutor, seeing the analysis is incredibly helpful. Really appreciated and great job.

  • That´s gold Jerry, Gold!!

  • Fantastic analysis and amazing tips

  • I lol'd at 'pacman mode'..

  • Very classical game.

I didn't see any brilliancies though......

  • Actually, one of the Polgar sisters has won a high quality men's tournament in the last 400 years. It was in Spain, I believe. The women will catch up.

  • Jerry, you rock!!! pacman mode!!!!

  • pro video

  • Why are there separate divisions for women and men in Chess? I mean for sports it's obvious that men have many physical advantages, but aren't men and women pretty much on a level playing field when it comes to the brain?

  • @Diviniteee

that way Magnus Carlsen is still champion, Go Magnus!

  • @Diviniteee

Apearently not. Men are usually better at chess than women. This could have a number of reasons like women hardly play chess or atleast are vastly outnumbered by men. For this reason they decided to have a seperate womens only championship.

Of course you dont have to participate, for example judit polgar has never played the womens championship instead prefering to play with the top ranked men.

  • the king is sneaking around !

  • "the hallmark of the artist is simplicity." my goodness. where were you at 16?

  • 14:35 not worth it. Don't do it! xD

  • Pacman mode xD nice job, great video

  • 15:29 Qc5..Perhaps Qc5 was played to open the b file and generate some counterplay?

  • Also, 6:16 I like that you mention potential sacs.

  • 4:45 I see signs of improvement in your commentary , Jerry.

  • great video, thanks!

  • she was only 16 years old?? nice

  • Great game, Great commentary

  • regarding the variations you show at about minute 18: i think it is important to point out that white is winning because his king gains the opposition towards the black king. this way the black king is forcibly driven back into his own half of the board and the loss of pawns is inevitable. you somehow show that this is the case but the term "opposition" sums it all up ;)

but nevertheless i enjoyed your commentary! looking forward to more videos :)

  • @ksqoo woooooaaaah get a load of captain nitpick

  • @bierbuik

oh well, my comment was meant to be instructive to other players who are not familiar with the concept of "opposition" and not to criticize this video. if you feel offended by this then i'm really sorry.

  • @ksqoo No, you shouldn't apologize. You did nothing wrong. My comment was exagerated to say the least.

  • dude, by the end of the video i had forgotten that 2 females were the players. that was an intense game, nice commentary!

  • weird queen trade...especially for a gm??? when are double pawns like that ever good?

  • @kettellive a number of games show how they can actually be an asset its just a rule of thumb to fallow as in most cases they are a liability

  • "alot of the moves are played with a great deal of logic to them" wait wait... this was a woman playing??!

    sorry.. :)

  • Go pacman mode gobbling up all this pawns

LOL! This is why I love your videos

  • Isn't ...Qc5 a terrible blunder?

The doubled black c-pawns lose in all endgames, no?

  • lol women's chess

  • haha! PACMAN MODE!! great commentary man. I like how you tell your thoughts too. keep up the good work :). and btw: can't wait for our facebook fan page game video :)

  • Thanks for the video! You're doing some of the best game commentary on youtube - very easy to understand.

  • As always, I got something out of it.

  • At 11:08 perhaps another advantage is having the other rook to the C file, allowing you to push that pawn with more force ?

  • AKA Burn variation of the French Defence.

  • What about f6 or c6 at 19:20 ?? Playing those moves out by myself and 2nd time with computer, I found out that while both being losing moves (As there isn't any winning move for black with perfect play!!) the mating net comes after 25+ moves. And that's with perfect play.

After f6 or c6, white's better avoiding the exchange since it would undouble the paws. White has moves like Ba6 or h4. Black has no intention of capturing the bishop plus black has walled white king from king side pawn play.

  • Are you going to be analyzing a game from the Corus Tournament? I can't wait to see that.

  • Thanks for the analysis - this was a very clean game!

  • Well done!

  • Comment removed

  • really top notch teaching.

  • Thanks, really enjoy your commentary. Keep them coming!

  • I really love games like this that I can relate to myself because after watching Bobby Fischer videos, I find that they don't help me much when it comes to my personal middle games, since his were always something out of the ordinary.

  • at 11:20 I'm thinking that not moving the a8 rook is good because you allow it to support a pawnstorm on white's queenside. Opposite side castling that's generally the idea- each side storming the other.....

  • never really understood why there are gender divisions in chess

anyway great vid! enjoyed it muchly

  • awesome video!!!

  • What was the time control for this tournament?

  • @Voiceoftheunheard The time control is 90 minutes for 40 moves, followed by 30 minutes for the rest of the game, and a 30-second increment per move as of the first move.

  • i wish i could give two thumbs up

  • More Howard Stern please!!!! thank you:)

  • Great commentary, as always.
