  • good idea telling all your viewers not to watch your videos for another 10 to 20 years! lolololol!!!!!!!

  • wow.. ITS JUST A CYCLE THE EARTH GOES THRU. let me tell you all a true story. a group of environmentalists hit the road for some section of Northern Europe that hasnt gotten snow for a hundred some years. When the global warming people get there to record their BS data, it snows. God has a sense of humor. idiots

  • hughster,

    see: smoke, mirrors, hot air

  • hughster,

what website do u get ur "claims" from?

  • hughster, BS...

    name the scientists...

the world is still waiting for al gore to get sued? when was this, like 2 years ago? LOL

    are we gettin it yet?

  • hughster,

"Michael E. Mann, who directs the Earth System Science Center at Pennsylvania State University, said in a telephone interview from Paris that skeptics are "taking these words totally OUT OF CONTEXT to make something trivial appear nefarious."

    msnbc

    typical Right-Wing/Big Oil BS....

  • hughster41,

    BS!

wheres the link to back ur claims!

  • hughster,

you believe the fossil fuel industry's disinformation campaign, and the right-wing sellouts

    i will believe the scientists....

  • hughster, guess what DUMASS,

    see desmog.....

just another BS denier fraud job!

  • I hope global warming really happens because I am already tired of the cold weather.

  • nah, the vid:

"Climate Denial Crock of the Week - The Great Petition Fraud"

totally DEBUNKS that stupid "30,000 scientists petition" BS...

the Right-Wing/fossil fuel industry's disinformation campaign is trying to mislead us, so they can remain at the "top" and raking in the profits...

    while we get screwed....

go green etc, listen to the SCIENTISTS

  • the 30,000 scientists are absolutely correct and YOU are absolutely full of it

  • apparently, you're retarded?

after seeing that vid, you still believe that JOKE "petition" touted by Big Oil's DISINFORMATION CAMPPAIGN?

hahhahahahah, can i help it , you have no brain LOL

  • google this

30,000 Scientists including 9,000 PhDs suing Al Gore

  • Humans have the potential to be fabulous. I will not give up hope. I will not be apathetic. I am sick of just going with this dysfunctional human flow. A little less I want, A little more happy with what I've got, Reduce Carbon Footprints by 6.7 billion. That change (could be comfortable, and) would be huge.

  • It is funny how most people don't seem to understand what "fossil fuel" actually is...no it is not made from dinosaurs. The last time the planet went through a warming cycle, the oceans were filled with algae that was absorbing all of the excess CO2. Just massive algae blooms everywhere, and once they absorbed enough and the planet came back into equilibrium, all the algae died and sank to the bottom. What are doing is releasing all of the CO2 from the last cycle back into the atmosphere.

  • Like some lightbulbs and some plastic bags are going to save this huge ass planet. We are not a threat to the planet. The planet can kick our ass, just look at the hurricanes, tornados and everything it throws at us. It destroys us. Some day the Planet will shake us people off like a bad case of flees, and think of us just as a pesky nusense (sp). The planet is fine, we are fucked.

  • Nice and elegant philosophy.

Just wondering though... maybe, just maybe, the hurricanes "it throws at us" could have a little something to do with manmade increased global temperature, and that hurricanes feed on heat...

But you're probably right. Fuck me and fuck you, and fuck the rest. Let's do same business as usual we are fucked...

    (?_?)

  • Yep, the human race is a piece of shit. Humans are garbage every one of us. We are all motherfuckers. That's why the earth wants us to get our roach asses off of it and stop roaching.

  • Shit, I've hoped you got the irony...

Well well, take care. It's never too la... auhgh (heart attack!) =D

  • It's only me, I've been done wrong by so many goddamn people lately that I could kill someone right now and not care. Some people are lucky and end up being around straight foreward people. I always end up being around two faced bastards. You can never tell in the beginning. Keep those guards up!

  • Look, weirdo, nobody was calling you names so stop being an obnoxious psycho! What the hell is wrong with you?

As for you last ice age idiocy, that's just absurd. The earth has actually cooled down from it's inception. It used to be much, much hotter on this planet. Of course, I'm not talking about mere centuries here.

  • "Not true, It warmed more before 1940 then after when C02 increased."

"I got my information from the NASA website."

hughster41, will you confirm your information?

Or, you agree that global temperature has increased rapidly 1980-2006 (0.5°C), due to manmade historical high levels of CO2 in the atmosphere?

  • The "proof" that you keep asking like some incessant child, is by definition of that process. Plus, of course, the noticeable changes like: temperature increase, thinning of the polar ice, the hole in the ozone layer, and possibly more.

  • Let's just say that burning up a millions of years accumulation of fossilized plants and organisms (that absorbed CO2 of earlier times) in a matter of decades is definitely going to have some impact.

  • follow the inverse fox news fear therom- if fox news says you should be scared don't be, if not do be.

  • hahah. exactly.

  • And I think you are on a slippery slope...

    Google: NASA global warming

(NASA makes the same conclusions as me)

  • Me too...

    Google: File Instrumental Temperature Record.png

Under image description you'll find a link directly to NASA and data set in txt format.

    Google: GISTEMP Graphs

And you will find the exact same graph on NASA website GISS (Goddard Institute for Space Studies) Surface Temperature Analysis, titled; Global Land-Ocean Temperature Index

  • False, from 1860-2006 global temperature has increased 1°C, with rapid change 1980-2006 (0.5°C).

If you reject this, you are rejecting reality. This is real measurements with real instruments (some when Al Gore wasn't even born).

Yes, there was a tiny dip between 1940-1960, as well as 1900-1920.

The global climate is not a perfect linear system; there will always be 'ups & downs', you have to look at trends over several years.

    The latest trend is shocking.

  • Is climate chage a natural cycle of the world? Of course! Have our actions accelerated this process possibly making it more extreme than other climate changes in the past? It would be ignorant to think otherwise. People who dismiss this issue because it is natural need to look what happned during past extreme climate changes...mass extinctions.

  • Okay, now we're getting somewhere - you admit it's getting warmer.

    Please Google:

    "1000 Year Temperature Comparison.png"

And look at the black curve representing year 1856-2004.

Are you telling me that this is just a pure coincidence? That the abnormal rate of heating 'just happened' to synchronize exactly with the Industrial Revolution??

What do you think the odds are for that kind of fluke..??

  • well someone could say that you really sounded like a moron, but since you were the one being called that, it's obviously not okay. whatever, i don't really mind that much, i don't really get how being called a liberal is an insult, i just don't like hypocrisy.

  • Okay, that's reasonable, no real winter and the Pacific as 'balancer'. I live 800 km (500 miles) from the Polar Circle. 30 years ago we had real cold winters and lots of snow for +4 months. Now, it's unusual with snow 4 weeks in a row...

If you don't believe me, Google:

    Storglaciaren Svenonius 67°54'N 18°34'E

Look at the bottom of the page; there's a picture of Storglaciären (big glacier) from year 1910, and one from year 1995 (longest record).

Scary, and not much to 'discuss'...

  • p.s. you called me a feel good liberal before. if you can't take name calling, then don't do it yourself.

  • falling on your ass is not a theory. and i never said the earth doesn't warm and cool on it's own, obviously it does or we would have the same weather every day. but just because it warms and cools on it's own, doesn't mean that global warming isn't happening.

  • For a great YouTube on how global warming is affecting the world TODAY please see:

Denial was a River in Africa

Or google: Climate Change Seen as Threat to U.S. Security

(According to the DOD and National Defense University) The changing global climate will pose profound strategic challenges to the United States in coming decades, raising the prospect of military intervention to deal with the effects of violent storms, drought, mass migration and pandemics.

  • 20 years from now is way too late. We've probably already passed some critical tipping points. 50% of arctic ice is already gone and the rate of arctic melting has doubled in the last 15 years.

The release of methane from warming arctic permafrost could cause runaway greenhouse gases.

If you don't believe it, please check out Dr. Stephen Chu, Noble physicist and U.S. Secretary of Energy, in the YouTube video:

    Polar Ice Update.

The MIT projection of 4-6C increase could well be enough.

  • This just out yesterday: Ocean temperatures are at an ALL TIME HIGH

The average water temperature worldwide was 62.6 degrees, according to the National Climatic Data Center, the branch of the U.S. government that keeps world weather records. That was 1.1 degree higher than the 20th century average, and beat the previous high set in 1998 by a couple hundredths of a degree. The coolest recorded ocean temperature was 59.3 degrees in December 1909.

  • Unproven theory? Where do you live, in a coal mine? If not just look outside your window and see the 'theory' in full action.

If you do live in a coal mine, Google: "2000 Year Temperature Comparison.png"

  • you have a point, but there's been a lot of evidence that does prove it. there really isn't a way to be 100% sure, that's why it's called a theory. gravity is a theory but most people think that's true. i'd rather not take the risk of finding out too late that it's actually true. no one's asking to go back to horse and buggy, but we could all help out and try our best to not harm the environment.

  • & you have no proof that it doesn't! i love how you keep telling people to go fuck themselves. it really shows your intellect and what you probably do every night.

  • My initial assessment stands and you're just proved it - you *are* a moron.

  • Brilliant! Absolutely brilliant! Why do we exhale, genius? Because the CO2 is a byproduct of aerobic respiration, the process by which the body generates energy!!

  • She gets my globe all warmed up! LOL!!!

  • "If such an extreme effect existed, it would show up even in a laboratory experiment involving concentrated CO2 as a thermal conductivity anomaly. It would be manifest itself as a new kind of `superinsulation' violating the conventional heat conduction equation. However, for CO2 such anomalous heat transport properties never have been observed" - Dr. Gerhard Gerlich and Ralf D. Tscheuschner from the paper "Falsification Of The Atmospheric CO2 Greenhouse Effects Within The Frame Of Physics"

  • LOL

This cranky 'Water-Vapor-Science' does not work.

Google for "Monte Hieb's Flying Graphics". xD

Monte Hieb is a Mining Engineer at the West Virginia Office of Miner's Health.

Hieb is not educated in climatology or a related science, and atmospheric science professionals were laughing long before he tried his hand at finger painting palaeoclimate.

And the case doesn't get any better by camouflage with Dr. This & Dr. That, when it's all wrong from square one.

  • No, you can't discount German Physicists (Dr. Gerhard Gerlich and Ralf D. Tscheuschner) with peer-reviewed literature - that's just blind zealousness.

  • Blind zealousness!? Zealousness!? LOL, this is truly amusing! You dismiss:

IPCC, WMO, UN, UNEP, UNFCCC, WHO, G8+5, EU, USGCRP, AAAS, NRC, AAWV, ASM, SAF, AGU, TWS, ESF, IoB, ACRS, IAC, CAETS, 32 national science academies, and the Kyoto Protocol including 160 countries

And instead you want us to believe in Mining Engineer Monte Hieb and two German Physicists, working on a wrong and childish assumption!?!?

    This is zealousness + madness.

  • And by the way; what "governmental sources" are you and Monte Hieb referring to...? Bush, Cheney, Rumsfeld & Rove!?

    LMAO!!

    G W. Bush = Global Warming Bush

    (former oil entrepreneur)

  • 1)

Hey! In the publication Global Warming Primer, by The National Center for Policy Analysis, we DO get the right answer:

"Most laws and treaties proposed to prevent, reduce or slow global warming would be expensive and do little to prevent warming or future harms. For a fraction of the costs, we could prevent much more harm and benefit many more people by adapting to a warmer world." =D

And the mastermind behind this water-vapor-crackpottery...? Of course Mining Engineer Monte Hieb!

  • 2)

What about the NCPA Board of Directors? Well, the board is most distinguished & neutral men from Texas.

Chairman James C. Thompson Jr. is an Oil & Gas Producer, Ranching, Banking in Texas, and of course totally unbiased.

What about Mr. Monte Hieb 'serious science'? Well, if we check out Hieb's website, what do we get...? The Ashland,Virginia Weather !? !? !?

    Hahaha! Yippie-Kai-Yay! xD

  • 3)

    THE TRUTH

Water vapor is a "reactive" GHG with a short atmospheric lifetime of about 1 week. In contrast, CO2 has a long lifetime (a century or more).

If you put in extra CO2 the climate warms a bit; because of this more WV evaporates. This in turn warms the atmosphere up a bit more; so more water evaporates (positive feedback).

This is why WV is not the *dominant* GHG; it's more like a submissive GHG.

    (Google: "Co2-temperature-plot.svg")

  • Futhermore: "Global climatologists claim that the Earth's natural greenhouse effect keeps the Earth 33C warmer than it would be without the trace gases in the atmosphere. 80 percent of this warming is attributed to water vapor and 20 percent to the 0.03 volume percent CO2."

  • even though most scientists agree that it's real, of course we couldn't've done it! no, lets just take the easy way out & blame something else. but when it becomes too late, then of course we're going to pretend that we tried our hardest & that no one ever denied it. & for all those people who don't care about our planet because you'll be dead by the time it gets really bad, i hope reincarnation is real.

  • Did you realize that when she asked immigrants (those with a strong accent), they said that they believe in global warming, but those born in America (no accent) were split into a group that believes it is a cycle (50-60%) and those who believe that it is real (40%) and take action. That sends a strong message: Most Americans still refuse to believe that global warming is real while many foreigners have already adopted that global warming is a serious issue. :-(

  • I don't think we need to check back in 10 to 20 years. Regardless of whether people on the street believe in it or not, the scientific consensus has overwhelmingly come to the conclusion that climate charge is real and that we're contributing to it. It's the inevitable conclusion when we examine the evidence. Deniers would like us all to think it's just Al Gore and the liberal politicians pushing this but it's coming from the scientific community. It's fact, not opinion.

  • AMEN!

  • No, CO2 isn't an element - its a compound and a byproduct of energy generation - whether that energy comes from the production of energy in a oil-fired power plant or aerobic respiration. An "element" would be the individual components of CO2: Carbon or Oxygen. CO2 is a strong greenhouse gas as is water vapor. An even stronger greenhouse gas is Methane - CO2 is the catalyst that will raise the temperature high enough to where methane will come out of solution and there will be no reversal.

  • Comment removed

  • Global climate change is not about politics; its not about Al Gore and it certainly isn't about one person's opinion or another - it is *not* an opinion that the effects of Anthropogenic Global Warming (APW) are being felt everywhere; the overwhelming consensus of the worldwide scientific community is that AGW is real and needs to be addressed now!

There are 2 kinds of people in the world, the deniers who don't want to alter their lifestyle and the rest of us.

  • Don't agree; Global climate change is aaaall about politics! Okay, the physical process is of course not about politics, but everything else is. And one big scalawag is G W. Bush who did not submit the Kyoto Protocol for Senate ratification. That's Global Warming in practice!

(and over-paid-EU-red-tapist doesn't do much better...)

  • Is Global Warming for real??

Well... if we all agree that carbon dioxide and methane works like the glass in a regular garden greenhouse. No scientists, no data, no mumbo-jumbo, just a basic functionality in the garden.

Then spend a few days of your next summer holiday inside a regular garden greenhouse, to answer the basic question: If the glass in this greenhouse gets thicker - will it be colder or hotter in here?

    Happy camping! ;)

  • Wow, Ms. Resident, I thought you were more intelligent and informed. Guess I misread you.

MIT thinks global warming is real.

From MIT News, May 19, 2009:

Research, conducted by MIT and published in the American Meteorological Society's JOURNAL OF CLIMATE predicts a median probability that worldwide surface temperatures will RISE 5.2 degrees Celsius (9 DEGREES FAHRENHEIT) by the year 2100,

This compares to the previous MIT study of 2003 that predicted a rise of 2.4 degrees Celsius.

The MIT projected 4-6C increase could well be enough.

  • 3 seasons........did you forget?

  • Actually the long term historical trend is cooling but you can probably expect a short term warming trend. Don't forget that we are still coming out of an ice age and not all the ice has disappeared yet.

Burrowing underground has proven helpful in the past when it got too cold or too hot.

Demographics indicate that there has been a migration to the sun belt. Perhaps the Northeast and the Southwest are trying to reverse the trend.

Increasing the Earth's albedo might cause some cooling.

  • I don't understand how people say global warming isn't real. I mean, I do believe the earth goes through cycles of warming and cooling but humans are making it so much worse. I guess because I'm a human geog major with my focus in environment makes me a little bias but that's how I see it :S

  • It is obviously the inhabitants of the earth that cause global climate change. Look at the dinosaurs. The careless misuse of thier resources caused cooling of the planet that killed them all.

    Come on people!!!

  • Lets blame Obama

  • After I heard about all these climate changers and all the things they are doing to slow it down I've decided to counter their efforts by turning on my gas guzzler smog emitting engine and drive around for no reason for a few hours because I want to do my part to assist in more climate change.

  • haha global warming...what a crock. I know how we can stop it!!!! Cap&Trade!!!!!! ¬_¬'

  • *citations available upon request*

looking at some of the charts available online you can see various patterns. one chart looks back to 400k years ago and resembles a tanget function. with "asymptotes" about every 100k-150k years. don't ask me how they figure out the temperature for that far back. we are about at the 100k year point. but if you look at more recent charts you notice the temperature is starting to level off at about 1.4 above average.

  • don't get me wrong i have looked at the charts for a while and i did notice several things that will say it is not a cycle, which is why i do feel we need to conserve and find other sources of energy.

  • Tonyrueb, at this time, alternative energy sources are not feasbile. According to NREL, to meet US energy needs, we would have to cover the entire state of Indiana with solar panels.

It can be said that the current recession was triggered by the rise in oil to $90 / barrel. People living check to check suddenly couldn't make ends meet, which toppled the strained mortgage and credit industries. It only goes to show how easily this house of cards we've built on oil can come crashing down.

  • i cant disagree with what you are saying, to change our way of getting energy would take a lot of time. For one for there to be a demand there must be a supply. fuel cell cars you need to have the fill up stations before cars are feasible. plus solar cell efficiency is well not efficient. but a great deal of research is being put into them. and there are several reasons for the recession not just oil although oil is a big part of it, thus why i think we need to look into other ways to get energy

  • "Are you gonna re-use that cup?"

    "...probably not"

    Hehe.

I dunno. I think global warming is largely a myth designed to tax people further down the line, and nobody can say for sure that the earth is getting warmer (if it is) due to human activity. I definitely don't think we help though, and regardless, we should do as much as we can to recycle, and reduce our emissions etc.

  • uhmm okay...great comeback..

  • whats the point in figuring out whether global warming is true or if its a cycle? even if its true, its just another theory to explain what is going on.

given the way we are living our lives now, taking resources from the earth as though it would last forever, we would eventually come to the point where it may come to an apocalypse. so despite it being true or not, the only thing we could possibly do now to extend the date of apocalypse is to change the way we humans do things.

  • ITS CALLED__Read the BIBLE! The END of this age is coming- JESUS CHRIST is returning- don't believe the lies-...."Its a cycle"- Its NOT a cycle.

  • G W. Bush = Global Warming Bush

  • The science community is not conflicted, that's a media representation. 99% of climate scientists agree that anthropogenic climate change is not only real, but an enormous threat. A massive ice shelf just collapsed in Antarctica a few months back, however, the real problem is if land ice melts, then we're looking at a global sea rise which can wipe out many highly populated areas. If you want to check the facts look at scientific journals, not mainstream media (paid by fossil fuel corps).

  • Yeah but the climate changes all the time that's what it does, and has done through history. As presented by the data in my other comment, the man made contribution to the greenhouse effect is 0.28% or if water vapor is taken into account 5.53%

  • Hi Jimbothy, of course the climate changes all the time, but it has never changed this quickly in the time of our species. History shows that our species can weather certain large climate events, especially due to our very large range over the globe, but that doesn't mean that 1000's or more did not die. My second query would be to ask you to quote your source for your figures. I use peer-reviewed scientific sources only.

  • Well Juliact, the report I'm getting my information is by Monte Hieb, he cites a study from US Department of Energy on important Greenhouse gases. He furthermore presents information from the IPCC via CDIAC as well as EPA data.

  • Hmm, interesting. I just did a search for Monte Hieb in peer-reviewed science journals and came up with 0. I then did a google search and found that Monte Hieb is linked to fossil fuel industries and does not have a science background. Not an unbiased source I would suggest. There are thousands of articles written by scientists on climate change in reputable peer-reviewed journals such as: Nature, Science, Proceedings of the Royal Society, International Journal of Climatology to name a few.

  • Monte Hieb is not a scholar, however his data is from governmental sources. There are statements and evidence presented in "The Man-Made Global Warming Hoax" by many scholars and former governmental officials. Furthermore a plethora of peer-reviewed studies are available at globalwarminghoax which in fact show a correlation between solar cycles and global climate change.

  • Global Warming is real, but it isn't an earth-only problem. NASA published numerous documents about other Planets warming up as well. We can ease the problem by taking care about our plante but we can't stop or reverse it. Curently earth is in one of it's colder phases and since ehis planet was the most inhabitable back when the poles did not have any ice, I'm not too concerned.

  • i think with all the people on this planet and all the consumption and pollution generated, especially from the US, china and india, you'd have to be foolish to think global warming is a myth. just do the math. just how far and how badly we're in the hole is hard to say, however. you always hear conflicting things from the science community and you always worry about media hype.

  • @AntonioMainenti, how ironic you can't even spell "moron"... lol.

  • I think the proper question is not 'is there global warming' because the data says 'yes' to that (cycles or no cycles).

The proper question is 'is it a crisis?'. That there is the real question.

  • Which is no. It's not really our fault seeing as how data states that we (all 6 almost 7 billion) contribute only around 3% of total greenhouse gases. Also CO2 isn't as deadly, but more so requirement for life. I have a feeling you, Pikemann Urge, knew this. This isn't refuting your comment, but agreeing with it.

  • I wish I had more knowledge than I do. But it's very difficult to discuss this when so many people have preconceptions.

I only know of one actual scientist, via a workmate, who said flat out that it's not as big a deal as we're told. Try getting that voice of dissent, despite its authority, taken seriously.

I hate waste, I hate pollution, I love a healthy planet and a healthy life. Let's just not bullshit about science.

  • "Just how much of the "Greenhouse Effect" is caused by human activity? It is about 0.28%, if water vapor is taken into account-- about 5.53%, if not."

This again is according to Monte Hieb and Global Warming: A Closer Look at the Numbers - his compilation of data from various resources.

  • Anthropogenic (man-made) CO2 additions comprise (11,880 / 370,484) or 3.207% of all greenhouse gas concentrations, (ignoring water vapor).

Total combined anthropogenic greenhouse gases comprise (12,217 / 370,484) or 3.298% of all greenhouse gas concentrations, (ignoring water vapor).

According to Monte Hieb and Global Warming: A closer look at the numbers and his compilation of data.

  • Jimbothy, all well and good, except that Monte Hieb is NOT a climate scientist, A quick Google search revealed that, at least in 2006, he worked for the West Virginia coal industry, Office of Miner Safety.

It's interesting that, of the 5000+ scientists out there working on the problem, you would pick a representative of the coal industry to believe. Or was he simply saying what you want to hear?

  • Well I mean lol, I could delve into the 30,000 scientist petition against man-made global warming, the same ones trying to sue Al Gore for Fraud.

  • It'll probably be a crisis for people who live on/near the coasts, but then again that stuff has been going on for years now. More hurricanes and such.

  • it could be global warming, but is it possible that we are also being pushed through propaganda to turn towards green energy because oil is scarcer now....it works because there really is no panic and we are glad to do it...for example Saudi arabia will be out of petro in 20 years in current productions..

  • Why don't people get off their asses and stop being such lightweights and do a little research. It's a no-brainer when you look at the evidence - man made global warming is a scam designed to tax and regulate over something we have no control over.

Evidence? How about that much touted graph in the movie An Inconvenient Truth showing temperatures and C02 levels following each other closely. What they didn't mention is that Co2 levels rise AFTER temperatures rise by an average of 800 years.

  • you are a no-brainer.

  • If you do some research you will see that there actually is global warming. Also green energy can be cheaper then what we have now.

  • Yes. It started at the end of the last ice age. Man had and still doesn't have anything to do with it.

  • CO2 is the "cause" for the temperature rise, not the effect. CO2 traps infrared radiation, hence its name as a greenhouse gas. This isn't rocket science and it isn't even about Al Gore's movie - its just plain, high school science: as the earth reradiates the energy it receives from the sun as IR (heat) and as you continue to increase the concentration of atmospheric CO2 you will trap more heat and thus, increase the average global temperature. It doesn't get any simpler than that.

  • Excellent piece of journalism!

  • The Lobbyists for Big Oil have succeeded in putting the question in intelligent people minds

  • I'm going to hold you to that. In 10-20 years I want to see a youtube video about global warming!

  • the snow thing is a good point, it doesn't snow as often but when it does it comes down really bad but then again not as bad as it used to

  • you notice it alot if your from the UK i think, we used to get loads of snow even 10 years ago but in the last five or so years we have never had more than a few inches, when i was 5 in 1996 a foot of snow was quite a normal thing in scotland, and i dont think we have had that since about 2001 where im from, seems the english guy in the vid notices it too.

  • Wtf are you talking about global warming! The debate is about healthcare. Who cares if we all die from air pollution if we have no insurance it's meaningless! Geez Lori do us a favor and talk about a real issue. We need affordable healthcare so we can prevent air pollution and all the other effects from global warming. Besides it's too late to do anything about global warming. It's survival of the fittest.

  • Doesn't the Sun fluctuate in power, and doesn't that affect the Earth's temperature a lot?

  • Yes. Speculation has it the a huge decreases in recent years in sun spots is going to bring us into a minor cooling phase.

  • weather it was caused by men or natural...it is happening!!!...now, weather we can help it or not is the debate...

  • You let one ant stand up to us, then they all might stand up! Those puny little ants outnumber us a hundred to one and if they ever figure that out there goes our way of life!

Emergencies have always been the pretext on which the safeguards of individual liberty have been eroded.F.A. Hayek

In politics, nothing happens by accident. If it happens, you can bet it was planned that way. Franklin D. Roosevelt, Father of the Welfare State

  • Im not worried about global warming if it does happen it is not from us just a natural cycle of this world and we wil just adapted.

  • Natural cycle? Well I think we have helped it along a LOT, and the earth didn't have billions of people the last time we had major changes to the earth's environment! All I can say is, buy up that property in the mountains, people! It'll be beach-front property before you know it...run for the HILLS, NOW, PLLLLLLEASE BEFORE IT's TOO LATE! AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAH. But for now, change outta those work clothes, have a beer or glass of wine, whatever and just relax. Aaaaaaah.

  • sure am, i sweat my balls off at work

  • Whether or not "global warming" is real, pollution is very real and its a huge problem. Why can't put we global warming on the backburner and fix pollution? I would say it could kil two birds with one stone, but that may offend any treehuggers with labtops.

  • It's probably a hybrid of both, very simple. Pollution and natural climate patterns. Even if pollution has nothing to do with it, it'd still be allot better to get rid of dependance on fossil fuels and make a better environment.

  • i love how you have to pick at everything i say. a hybrid car is better than a normal one for the environment because more often than not you get more miles to the gallon, therefore polluting the environment less. electricity is usually less money than gasoline too. obviously this conversation is getting no where and there really isn''t a point, you just think you're so smart and have to challenge everything i say. i don't give a crap "who i sound like", you don't know me at all.

  • Hybrids are better? Not necessarily. Hint: battery.

  • plugging in the battery doesn't cost nearly as much as gas would cost, and you get more miles to the gallon...so yes, i'm pretty sure it is better. there might be a few exceptions i don't know about, but still.

  • You sound like an idiot who can't read.

  • I agree its a cycle.

I think humans have some part

but just like the ice age, you can't stop it.

  • global warming is a reality. can we stop it

no we will adapt as the need arises

we did make it through the 10 yr drought

    that caused the dust storms.

but who remembers when that happened

  • Global warming is a real issue and we should be doing whatever we can.

  • i didn't say that they were the same thing...but obviously global warming effects the environment in a bad way. so all i was saying is that if even though someone doesn't think global warming is happening, they can still take the precautions that people who are trying to "fight" global warming are. like buying hybrid cars or planting a tree. i don't know how to explain it more simply than that.

  • Let's just try not to leave too mush plastic laying around out there when we go extinct.

  • Is it going to matter after Dec 2012?

  • I am so tired of doomsday dates. Give me one I can rely on.

  • Um, yes.

  • The planet may be moveing and climate may change. Sucks for humans but the earth has a tendency to work it self out.

  • slouchypaul @ yahoo . com that is my email without the spaces. Tell me am I an evil person for living wastefully.

  • I am not worried about global warming. I say just live our lives and let the future take care of itself.

  • Really bad times do not compute to the human mind. This is just how nature works. "piss and vinagre" is a term for the young. After people see enough stuff immensely bad times seem to be in the offing. Pretend it's not going to happen is normal. To live one's life as if things wll never change is normal. The end could come fast, slow, or cruising speed, but most certainly it will come, then we will be the fossils.

  • I am more concerned with global pollution.

  • can't it be a little from column a and a little from column b?

  • The climate continue to change. These days not drastically, but one never knows. When half the people of the world die off because the climate change, then the rest couild follow. We have to hope for the best, but we're not out of the woods. It could be bad times, in no time at all. None of us are actually old on a geological scale. We could have a freaky year. Big change could come with major eruptions.

  • No one really knows but all those toxic flumes coming out of so many cars cannot be good for the air we need to survive. However since we are so worried about it I would bet that something else goes terribly wrong before the air kills us. For example losing the magnetic field that encircles the earth, Fear is just too much fun!! hehe

  • September Arctic sea ice is due to vanish within the next decade; non-polar glaciers are in full retreat around the globe; Borneo's rainforests will be gone by 2025, the Amazon rainforest will be 50% depleted by mid-century; coral reefs are undergoing catastrophic decline due to ocean acidification; China is building a new coal power plant every week; species are becoming extinct at 1000x the natural background rate... what more evidence to people need that we're damaging the environment?!

  • Oh no...the sky is falling!

  • Great argument there, plstkr07.

I love how you stated so many scientific facts and statistics in your post.

    /sarcasm

  • Thanks for letting me know that was sarcasm...brilliant move. I'll site some statistics. Your beanhole could invert by 2050 and you could get another zit on your rear tomorrow.

  • Anyone who doubts that humans are harming the planet should watch the documentary called "Home" that was recently released. Look for the YouTube channel "homeproject" and you'll find it there. The whole film is available to watch for free. It makes for pretty alarming viewing, to say the least.

  • Do you think I will be able to live wastefully my whole life until I die if I am 32 years old? I leave all of my lights, radios, tv and computer on all the time. I leave the water run while I wash dishes and brush my teeth. I take really long showers. I never recycle. I order free magazines, books, and catalogs and then when I get them I just toss them in the trash without even looking at them. I litter too

  • 114 in Baghdad? Good god, that helps explain alot.

  • I agree with teasnax. I remember I even had to make a huge report of the hole of the ozone layer back in school and how obvious of a concern it is, along with the Greenhouse Effect. I believe the Earth has its cycles but it's supposed to be a cold cycle not a crisp burning, north/south pole melting one!

  • i've never seen An Inconvenient Truth [and i don't care about Gore's politics], but i HAVE seen Too Hot To Handle [or what i like to call "global warming for dummies]. it came out around Al's thing and is actually a great and alarming movie. it examines and proves what is going on "point blank" in a very easy to understand, straight ahead format. whatever the case, it sucks that so many people are like "whatever," and not acting. "as long as my 'bubble' is fine, the everything can go to hell."

  • It's sad that there have been 25 comments(as I type) and not one person has mentioned Goldman Sachs. READ THE JULY ISSUE OF ROLLING STONE PEOPLE! This is a TOTAL creation of Goldman Sachs and Al Gore(who has started his own company with 3 Goldman Sachs bigshots!). It's all about turning Cap & Trade into a commodity that Goldman Sachs controls!

  • "It's all about turning Cap & Trade into a commodity that Goldman Sachs controls! "

I have no problem with that.

  • when did i ever say C02 is a pollutant?

  • It's more than a trend, there's a lot of money changing hands over climate change.

  • there is no global warming.

The ice on the North Pole for instance, is the last remaining ice of the Ice Age.

  • I read about this as well, how we're still techinically in an ice age and just coming out of it. But I don't think we can dismiss it as not global warming. The earth is warming up, and its gonna be bad for us. Should we try to control it?

  • It's an Al Gore said so. Who are we to argue.

    Occidental Petroleum sound familiar?

Must be nice to make huge profit from both sides.

No I believe history. (actual facts) The Earth just warms an cools

  • wow. have people forgotten about The Greenhouse Effect? what about the hole in the ozone layer that that's bigger than Texas? so many people aren't even trying to see for themselves what global warming means [i.e. research]. they're just going on hearsay and other's editorials. the facts are this: greenland and the south pole are MELTING, whole fish populations are dying because the ocean is heating up and weather systems around the world are going out of whack. that's just a generalized start.

  • I love it, Resident!

"Are you gonna reuse that cup?"

    Flawless!

  • even if you don't believe in global warming, i don't get why you wouldn't want to do things to improve the environment anyway...

  • wooorrrd up just what i was thinking

  • errrr...aaaahh...coz the Buybull sayzzzooo!!!

  • I liked what Richard Muller wrote about global warming.

  • Yes, apparently there is a cycle, but we're definitely tipping the balance by blowing all that fossil fuel into the air.

Guess we'll have to wait and see if the earth's albedo will remain strong enough to recover.

  • Global Warming: Are you for or against? Where all those who were unconcerned can be considered to have answered 'yes'.

  • There was the medieval warming period that happened without influence by humans. I think the Earth warms and cools naturally, but pollution is harmful to the health of nature, animals and humans.

  • I blame the sun for global warming and cooling, not man.

  • Fair enough. But you'd need a broad range of data to support that, not just one or two 'nice' bits of data while ignoring the rest.

BTW to those two people who gave a thumbs-down, get a life. Put up or shut up: if Napalm66 is incorrect, then say why.

Otherwise you know what you can do with your thumbs.

  • Well then you must hate freedom!

  • CovertTruth,

So Infowars and Alex Jones - a big fan of The Wacko from Waco David Koresh, who for real thinks Obama is a Joker in the New World Order conspiracy and Illuminati - is that what freedom is all about!?

    LMAO!!

If it's anything that's going to bring this world down, it's for sure Fundamentalist-Texas-Christian-Wacko's, with The Bible in one hand and The Bomb in the other, screaming for the 'freedom' to use more petrol and guns...

  • And Lori, are you back to the old camera here? Or is this an older video?
