One of my all-time favorite singers and one of my all-time favorite songs - what more could I ask for? Won't be too long before I join Perry up there.
Wow... this song take me back to early seventy , when the song just came in ... snowey winter were going to to the bar with my friends which was very warm..... and this song was playing in the jobox ,, oh my my God what an old good days i missed soooooo much i will give tomorrow for one day of yesterday i realey mean't.
This is really tragic. I know a lot of Frankie fans don't mind as much as I do, but I really want to see Perry Como pictures here. I used to watch his show on TV when I was a little kid, he was my favorite singer. Perry Como had one of the smoothest voices I ever heard, and it wasn't too overblown or phony and operatic. I like the easy going sound he had. PLEASE GIVE PERRY COMO his due Credit. I am actually tired of Sinatra.
It's obvious what's happened. The person downloaded the song online and it was falsely labeled as being sung by Sinatra. This is very common and only true fans of the singers can tell the difference. I've even seen a recording of "Der Hölle Rache" labeled as sung by Maria Callas!
Sinatra didnt have the voice to carry off a song like this. He was great so great but all vocalist have their limitations. OMG where are all the Como's - Sinatras- Martino's
Crosby and on and ... Where have all the singers gone, gone to grave yards everyone
So sad that this beautiful music no longer exists.
Please all you people coming in here and spewing your political hate stop it . This is not the venue if you even no what that means. This is a nice man singing a great song...not spewing a perticular political bent.
Ok sorry about the idiot comment...it appears it is I that is the idiot not you guys..thanks for the update....I like it anyway..cheers...and happy new year 2011
I had no idea that Perry Como had such a close resemblance to Frank Sinatra. Were they twins? I'd like it better if he stuck with the original gender and didn't change the words.

Well Roberta Flack's is good, but the best version to me is the original by Lori Lieberman. According to the second hand songs website, this version ALSO predated Roberta's. Listen to Lori's original. It packs a WALLOP! She was just a teenager when she did it, but you'd never know by that mature voice of hers!
You're welcome. And let me know when you've had time to listen to Liberman's original version. What you want is her original 1971 (or is it '72?) version.
She has since re-recorded the song twice, in 1996 and again in 2009.
@cmulwee001 Checked it. Cool. But I think I enjoy more listening to Roberta Flack's version. But that's a case I prefer do not judge which one is better. ^_^ I think I just "don't have the packet" for it.
Well I would have to say that both(or if you count Perry's version all three) renditions have their merit. Lori's original has much depth and emotion and has a haunting kind of feel to it. Roberta Flack's famous cover version has that so called "big wall of sound" that was characteristic of '60's and '70'ssmooth R&B and soul.
Perry's has a similar arrangement to Lori's and his baritone voice works quite well for this song.
wow there are like 5 videos that say Perry Como song that have a picture of Frank Sinatra instead of Perry, this is one of them, these guys best get their vocalists right :P
Perry Como is one of the all time greats----as good as they come.
As a person as Perry was I dont think he would be thrilled if a picture of Frank Sinatra was posed on a Perry tune-----being that it is can the poster of this video please post my way with a picture of Perry.
Perry Como had the most amazing voice. I know that a lot of people say that he took his style from Crosby, and Sinatra-but as great as they were, he was better. He is missed.
Perry came to this world first. I am sure Frank was inspired by him as well as Bing.
They were and fortunately are (recordings) still all in the greatest ever category. It then becomes taste of a particular singer of a particular song and or feeling for one of those greatest artists. All were off the charts. Perry for me if I had to listen to only one for the rest of my life. (i would then be missing out tremendously if I could not hear Frank, Bing, Dean , Sammy, Jerry Vale and on)
@anongoingseries13 I am such a fan of Perry-Frank Sinatra was really good, as was all the so called crooners (Crosby)-and I liked them. But Perry Como was so my favorite, and to this day, I miss him.

It sounds to me like this version is based not on Roberta Flack's cover version, but on the ORIGINAL folk song by Lori Lieberman. Lori did it first, and it was her, not Roberta who had the experience of seeing Don Mclean.
Tenia miles de dias de no escuchar a Perry Como me dirijo hasta las nubes y tengo lindisimos recuerdos de mi casa , mis padres mi vida de jovencita que siempre llevare en mi corazón
this is perry without a doubt ........smoother voice and better in my opinion from frank but just me expressin that view need to make up your own minds .......
Looks like someone made a little mistake here,it's obvious that's not Perry Como everyone can see it's 'Dean Martin'. OK Seriously that's Frank Sinatra.
This is definitely Frank singing, all you need to do is change the label....my mum has tons of Perry Como and Frank albums so I know the difference you idiot....this is FRANK...not PERRY....
Also, Frank never recorded this song, based on the info that I've seen on "Second Hand Songs".
Perry Como was probably the third artist to record the song. The first two were Lori Lieberman and Anne Murray.
Of course it was Roberta Flack who had the monster hit with the song, and she did a good job. However, I prefer the earlier versions like this one by Mr. C, the Lieberman original, and the similarly arranged (to Lori's) version by Anne Murray

great tune by the great Como, if Frank had done this tune he would have put his own great stamp on it, these two singers made the best sounds of the 20th century.
No the original was a folk song by Lori Lieberman(a beautiful blonde blue eyed folk-pop singer songwriter). It was Lieberman, not Flack who saw Don McLean, and wrote her thoughts as a poem. You should check out Lori's original version, her voice is angelic.
Lori was supposedly still in her teens when she recorded it
I heard she sang a good song, I heard she had a style. And so I came to see her to listen for a while. And there she was this young girl, a stranger to my eyes. Strumming my pain with her fingers Singing my life with her words Killing me softly with her song killing me softly with her song Telling my whole life with her words Killing me softly with her song I
Another great crooner I grew up with. I love this song, and all his music. He always sang like he was in his own living room singing to his wife. I will always miss his him. Such beautiful music.
you're right about Como but Frank was no thug....given his background...his childhood etc. he was and still is, a legend who overcame adversity. I genuinely love them both for their music.
@grahambbb "I suppose you lived in their neighborhood? When will you people stop reading politics? I don't suppose you believe Barack Obama is an Ilegal Alien??? Well there is more truth in that, than any of the shit from/in the sixties. There is no USSR to cloud your vision, so why so blind??"
Sir, will you kindly remove your comment? It is SPAM! it has NO relevance to the video or song. That is what we are here to talk about. If you want to talk about Obama or USSR,please do it on the appropriate video and DON"T post it here? Not trying to be rude, just making a point. We are here to talk about the SONG and nothing else.
It is Perry Como singing, for sure... Frank Sinatra's face is error...someone goofed ...gather they must be toooo young to remember who's who?...they looked nothing alike..
OMG,I grewup listening to this version..my folks had this LP called 'and I love you so'...think it was an RCA label, some yellow and red cover, still remember!
this is PERRY COMO, and he doesn't sound anything like fas, both he and sinatra had two distinctive different voices and both were at the top of the class forever
ok , super...but ONE MISTAKE!! THIS IS A PIC OF FRENKY BLUE EYES SINATRA..NOT PERRY COMO!!!! PLEASE, CHANGE THIS!!

Another great crooner I grew up with. I love this song, and all his music. He always sang like he was in his own living room singing to his wife. I will always miss his him. Such beautiful music.
Thanks for the presentation.

COMO WAS AN ANGEL, SINATRA A THUG

you're right about Como but Frank was no thug....given his background...his childhood etc. he was and still is, a legend who overcame adversity.

Grifiki 1 year ago
@Grifiki

For all of you who are confused as to who is singing Killing Me Softly This is Perry Como.
And as for as I am concerned there is no voice any better than he had. I copy his style also. I am CB Kelton...
God Bless all of you
