Saw Samiam the first time in Miami Beach sometime around 1991 - they just blew everyone away - they had so much energy and emotion. I wish so much I still had a copy of their first LP. Later I saw them in Baltimore in 92, and the place was packed, people hugging each other dancing and singing "sometimes you need to cry so you can smile again" - never did I see an audience like that.
This is the soundtrack of my youth - this is certainly one of the most underrated bands ever. Samaim forever!
"Clumbsy and Your Freaking Me Out" best Samiam records production and all, those were some solid song's. I saw them in the mid-90's and they were just as good live.
In 1998 drove 7 hours from Minneapolis to Thunder Bay Canada to see Samiam, then after the show drove back....border patrol detained us thinking we were "up to something fishy" spending 14 hours in a car for a 50 minute show! haha, would totally do it again.
I saw them in Modesto, CA back in college. I got to meet them backstage. They were opening for a little known band at the time called No Doubt. I was blocking the stage talking with Samiam and their manager at the time and this chick pushes me out of the way so she could get to the stage. It was Gwen Stefani.
Samiam's sound reminds me of early U2 with a harder edge. (no pun intended) This song is a classic example. Where is the Sky Flying By video?
Great to hear they're making a new record. Just happened across these Samiam vids looking for something else, and it's reminded me how great those songs are; gonna have to dig out some records...
Could someone please upload, Conditions off Billy. I have cd, too scratched to play/upload.. Thanks
