I see a big change in Jr. since he started his own company. When he was at OCC, at times he acted like Odie, disrespectful and irresponsible. At PJD he fired Odie for doing some of the same things he did at OCC. Through it all though, Sr. has been and is a jerk.
I also believe Junior was the one making the nice bikes, NOT senior. Something if he works he even does stuff wrong. He's always attacking junior even when he's working because then it's not fast enough, good enough, this isn't right, that isn't right. But in the end senior is the one claiming HE made the bike eventhough he didn't work one second on it.
Starting at 8am is more normal then starting at 7am. No one would accept that here. 7 O'clock is totally ridiculous, especially how long they work on and the minimum respect they get. I see Junior working a LOT more than Senior who's always sitting in his chair. Junior is so right not taking this any longer from his father. Senior should control his anger instead of constantly yelling at everybody because of his own problems. And he should respect his workers a LOT more.
What I don't get is why he has a stroke about it. Got a problem address it and if it's not resolved then state the issue and terminate. No need to have a hemorhoid about it.
We get this on a freeview channel in England and i stopped watching it because i got sick of Psr. shouting...It was the same on American Hot Rod...They do all the work and the boss gets the praise...Do'nt know what happened in end because we do'nt get up to date versions...Be glad of any news on this pair and how they are getting on.....

Clearly, Sr. has some anger management issues. I think we can all sympathize with trying to run a company with an employee that takes liberties (such as coming in late constantly). However, Sr.'s approach should have been different. Either talk to Jr. and tell him that his tardiness is affecting morale or make other arrangements such as coming in an hour later and working an hour later etc. But nobody with any self worth will let themselves be berated like that...

Jr should lay a Harley engine transverse, Moto Guzzi style, with a specially adapted transmission, ie lose the primary, under the seat of a scooter for Mikey. Now THAT would be innovative. But choppers are complete pieces of crap, a way to take a bike and just swing a sledge hammer on any aspect of performance it MAY HAVE had in the first place. What a joke. If Jr really wanted to show up his father, he's already made better choppers, now he should make real motorcycles, with a NEW U.S. engine!
The only thing productive that was done with a Harley motor, since the '40s with the nucklehead, was the Buell family of bikes. But even then, it was Harley holding him back. Switch to another engine in the 1125R, and it's 140+HP AND MPG, and no energy wasted making stupid growling/farting noises. Funny that Buell signed a no-compete/non-disclosure yet still sells race bikes. 'Cause Harley only competes against itself! Ha! i've read that the 1125R engine cost 15% as much as the V-rod to develop!
Sr isn't just a dinosaur because of his personality, he's a dinosaur because everything he ever designed was totally derivative. At least Jr has fresh ideas, even if they are working on a dinosaur of a bike. Mikey is the true artist in the family, and he's a scooter boy, which is what takes real balls, hence the large space in front of the seat. Personally, I'd like to see Jr ditch the chopper thing, and start to design actual motorcycles. Even if it's still a HardleyAbleson, a SCOOTER wb cool!

Honestly I'm positive Sr. does loads of business work & is the face of the company, at least his mustache is, but Jr. is the one out of these two whose out in the shop tryin to make things happen. Hes always got bikes on his mind & the projects in general whether its design/fabrication; he is always thinking about completing the project; & "going the extra mile."

it is sad how things ended up at both ends. Family and friends mixed with business in some sorts do not work. It hurts when a friend comes up needing work and you will not hire them due to the fact there is the business persona and friend or have to fire them. I have seen it many times before. Only few things ruin relationships; family, money, and/or dating relationships + (marriages, cheating, ex bf/gf situations etc). Overall, BUSINESS. Works for some, but not many others.

I certainly hate to see this and it is just sad that they can't be a family first and business second.

Jr should lay a Harley engine transverse, Moto Guzzi style, with a specially adapted transmission, ie lose the primary, under the seat of a scooter for Mikey. Now THAT would be innovative. But choppers are complete pieces of crap, a way to take a bike and just swing a sledge hammer on any aspect of performance it MAY HAVE had in the first place. What a joke. If Jr really wanted to show up his father, he's already made better choppers, now he should make real motorcycles, with a NEW U.S. engine!

The only thing productive that was done with a Harley motor, since the '40s with the nucklehead, was the Buell family of bikes. But even then, it was Harley holding him back. Switch to another engine in the 1125R, and it's 140+HP AND MPG, and no energy wasted making stupid growling/farting noises. Funny that Buell signed a no-compete/non-disclosure yet still sells race bikes. 'Cause Harley only competes against itself! Ha! i've read that the 1125R engine cost 15% as much as the V-rod to develop!

Sr isn't just a dinosaur because of his personality, he's a dinosaur because everything he ever designed was totally derivative. At least Jr has fresh ideas, even if they are working on a dinosaur of a bike. Mikey is the true artist in the family, and he's a scooter boy, which is what takes real balls, hence the large space in front of the seat. Personally, I'd like to see Jr ditch the chopper thing, and start to design actual motorcycles. Even if it's still a HardleyAbleson, a SCOOTER wb cool!

Props to guys like Rick & Jim though % what's his name, Amaretti?& the guy who came from WyoTech? Plus all the people who work there outside the show, they work as hell w/o recognition. Those guys put in a ton of work @ OCC & make those bikes happen in JRs absence. Jason is a funny guy & a good designer as well but he just doesn't have that X-factor like JR. As I re-watch this clip again during another of my YouTube crawls that has somehow led me here.. it seems obvious that Paul Sr. became completely unhinged when Jr. reminded him that they were partners. That's when Sr. completely lost it. That is very telling if you ask me. Sr. is clearly jealous and fearful of his own son, and he had done everything he can to squash him and keep him down. it is sad how things ended up at both ends. Family and friends mixed with business in some sorts do not work. It hurts when a friend comes up needing work and you will not hire them due to the fact there is the business persona and friend or have to fire them. I have seen it many times before. Only few things ruin relationships; family, money, and/or dating relationships + (marriages, cheating, ex bf/gf situations etc). Overall, BUSINESS. Works for some, but not many others.

Junior wasn't the talent at occ, he was just a builder, he didn't design all the bikes, jason did and paul jr built them, 50 percent at least. Occ has been making better bikes now that he's gone, and besides junior doesn't know more about bikes than his dad.

I certainly hate to see this and it is just sad that they can't be a family first and business second.
Having said that, Paul Sr. needs to look at himself and ask, why do I have a contentious relationship with very single one of my children? Half of the family no longer speaks with Paul Sr.
I hope that at some point he will realize that sometimes it just doesn't matter who is right or wrong. Family is about sacrifice, giving and meeting somewhere in the middle.

I agree with Paul junior in that he plays a major role in the success of OCC through his unique creativity at building bikes, evident by the success of Paul Junior designs. However Paul senior was correct to fire him as he was consistently not abiding by his contract- it was unprofessional in a business sense and gives a bad impression on the rest of the employees. You could see that Paul Senior really didn't want to fire him shown by the millions of chances he gave paul juniour to change

Paul Jr. took what his father started to the next level, along with his crew. Fame has gone to all of their heads. They have SUCH TALENT. They both should overlook the little things instead of focusing on them. I wish I was have as successful as they are and had half the talent in machining these creations. They need to grow up and continue making beautifully amazing bikes father, son and crew. I hope they realize how lucky they are after all the work they have done to make it a success.
