  • Would be awesome if you would put in a Mission Impossible-like theme in the background and explain it very seriously and call it "Operation Flashsmasher" or something.

  • Nice to know.. make fighting him a bit easier for me. Of course I use weapons, and knowing this if I hit him with one buster shot first he can't hit me with the stopper. Haven't graduated to buster only yet, but I have done a no damage run of the mm4 robot masters using weaknesses. (I do toad man first, buster only cause well, he's pathetic.)

  • Mega Man: *Charges up shot and fires* YOU CAN'T STOP ME!!!

Bright Man: *Flash Stopper is now unusable* FFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFF---!

  • Wow. I've been playing this game for the better part of two decades, and I never knew that. Simply amazing.

  • with this revenge, it knock brightman to a what/10

  • Nice Revenge on Bright Man, I fought him first in my Mr. Perfect Run of Mega Man 4 on my channel.

    -Old School Video Game King-

  • Huh. Congrats on this being linked to TV Tropes under "Goddamn Boss" =P

  • Hey, I know MrL1193! Haven't seen him in a while, though.

  • So I'm guessing from what you said about him on gameboy.....Bright Man in GB MM4 is to classic series perfect runners what Infinity Mijinion is to X series perfect runners

  • hey roahm have you ever noticed that bright man and heat man look exactly the same facewise

  • WOW, that's an awesome fact. I may have to try that next time I play MM4

  • I don't know how Roahm does the perfect runs but it's very cool!!!!☺

  • How the hell does anybody figure this out? That guy needs to decode some ancient writings or something if he has that kind of eye.

  • Whats the song at the Begging ?

  • Chaos Gate from Warriors Orochi 1 / 2. For future reference, I usually list outside music in my videos in the video information ;)

  • I tried it, it's so hard to hit him twice, because you kinda have to hit him when he's junmping and then a second time right before he lands, or hit him twice during his shot sequence like you did.

HOW MANY TRIES DID YOU HAVE FOR THIS AND THE NON REVENGE PERFECT RUN???

  • Far, faaaaaaar too many o.o;;

  • I would love to see you do "The Revenge" with Quick Man.. XD

  • As would I, but alas, a viable strategy for such still evades me.

  • @RoahmMythril i can tell you what his first move will be. it'll either be a high slow jump you can dodge, or a straight jump right at you thats tricky to dodge. and i think i noticed that when he jumps, he lands right where u were when he jumped....i could be wrong though

  • @RoahmMythril...I'm still looking, too...No luck here either...

  • @RoahmMythril If not buster only, how about some time stoppery and airshootery revenge?

  • @RoahmMythril Fun fact. Remember in your rematch vid of MM2? Quick Man ran into the wall. If you repeatedly jump over him, he won't hurt you with the quick boomerang

  • @MegaAuraStar Perhaps that's because the terrain in the rematch room is flat, and Quickman's AI is more dangerous on the uneven terrain of his original room?

  • I'm trying to find one too, but it still eludes me... :(

  • Now if only Quick Man's AI could be figured out...

  • bright man is a bright one.....basing his pattern on math...who thinks about math at a time like this?

  • this kinda gives insight on the other time-stopping robot masters. do they function in the same process? is there some point in their HP that they use their weapon at certain times, or just use it constantly like a random, cheap freak?

  • Well, with Flash Man, I know it's more time based, he takes a certain amount of time as if to charge it up, then lets it go.

  • that's a nice sprite of you, roahm

  • Ah, thank you.

  • congrats again Roahm. good job keeping with your rules

  • I know what you're thinking. "Did he fire 10 shots or 11?" But you're dealing with a dealing with a Mega Buster, the most powerful Buster Cannon in the world, so ask yourself, "Are you feeling lucky, punk?"

  • Funny how this got posted by Heat Man in the Megaman Network site. It was titled: "The article Bright Man doesn't want you to see" XD

  • Haha, nice X) Now if only this worked in the GB version X)

  • Have you thought of doing a megamari lp?

  • Indeed, I will probably do that eventually.

  • whatcha use to record the videos and your voiceovers?

  • That's all in my FAQ vid and on the Gaming FAQ portion of my main site.

  • Sorry, I haven't seen all of your videos and/or am completely oblivious, do you ever mention why charge shots aren't kosher? 1:25 :P

  • On my perfect run videos, my rules are to take no damage and use only the default Mega Buster, no charges, whenever possible (if charge shots are forced, such as a few enemies in MM6, or Robot Master weapons or utilities which have been forced in some areas, I'll use them). That and I prefer just constantly attacking to having to wait on charges, plus the constant charge sound annoys me anyway ^_^;

  • @RoahmMythril shoot jump over let him run into the wall and shoot twice and repeat

  • Hmm, I think I tried that, but it didn't really work out for me.

  • @ShadowAFAGGOT Yeah, that really doesn't go well unless you're doing the robot master refights

  • try quickman "GEMINI" style

  • Gemini style?

  • Well what about this: Make sure bright man doesn't have half hp. He could have more or less of that. Then just fire more or less then 8 and then half of that.

  • now we need one for the GB Brightman

    unless its the same thing...

  • Sadly, it is not. GB Bright Man IS a completely random cheater, and the Flash Stopper effect lasts even longer o.o;

  • all clear, brightman is no CHEATER!!!!! XD

  • Wow. CAPCOM being...CAPCOM. Alrighty.

  • At least now he has earned half of this difficulty instead of cheating his way into it.

  • Indeed, very true, him being a difficult fight, that I can accept, it's the cheapness that always bothered me.

  • The revenge in the beginning of the video actually added some comedy to a very interesting and informative video.

  • Thank you, I was indeed hoping to make this both entertaining and informative ;)

  • Huh. I never knew about this either, and this guy gave me fits! And seeing how Rain Flush takes away exactly 4 points of health, facilitating the use of Flash Stopper every time... Hmm...

  • You can always damage him like 1 or 2 times with the buster, then Rain Flush him.

  • Yes, but my usual challenge is I have to use buster only, no charge, no damage.

  • 12, 20, 24... Well, that explains why when I fought him the first few times, he almost always used the Flash Stopper around the 3rd and 6th Rain Flush. (And it explains why the shoot-once-then-Rain-Flush strategy works.)

Of course, no Rain Flush in Perfect Runs. Unless you make a mistake on Toad Man... :-)

  • When I was 10 and rented this game, I think his stage was harder then the actual boss, because I never made it to him. I just recently beat this game a month ago. 16 years later, and victory. Now I have a wii and the anniversary collection, and have beaten 1-5. I don't six that much.

  • man wish i wouldve known this when i faced bright man

  • Aye, same here, definitely. I did not know this when I did the original Bright Man run, would have saved a lot of trouble if I at least knew to try to go for this result X)

  • @roahm

so does bright man still have a 10/10 now that u no his secret?

  • Personally, I still classify him as that for a few reasons. Like I said in the video, it's tricky to keep track of how many hits you've landed on him while dodging all his attacks, getting those two hits in fast enough to keep him from landing on a Flash Stopper point is hard, and I don't think the average player would think to look for this particular pattern in the first place.

  • Comment removed

  • "to beat me, you need not muscles, speed or skill but brains.

think deep into my riddle, megaman, think outside the foes you've fought before.

i f you fail, i will hit you withow any thinking, and yes...you can call me cheap.

but if you discover the ansewer, i glady give my power to save my brothers, my sister and my father (tough i will not hestiate to fight).

think megaman, use your brain when you can...if you can, the wisdom light will shine upon you.

    Good Luck.

    -Brightman"

  • REEEEEEEEEEEEVEEEEEENGEEEE!

  • =O!!

    i wanna try it

    good video!

    5/5 and fav xD

  • I'm sorry, Mythril, but that "Revenge" at the beggining sounded weak.

  • Well, it was hardly the main part of the video, and also it was done at a point where I couldn't be too loud while recording it X)

  • Well, if it is, I didn't post it there. This is the only place I've posted any of my work personally.

  • And this is why we have a block button. Take your attitude elsewhere, thank you.

  • i just thought of something, if toad man is SO easy, and bright man is so cheap and hard....WHY DOSE TOAD MAN BEAT BRIGHT MAN?...wierd....lol anyway i didnt know about that! awesome vid 5/5

  • Because everyone knows that toads beat light bulbs. Its common knowledge XD

  • More people need to know about this.

  • wow, this is the most detailed boss analysing vid I have ever seen

  • Awesome. I also posted a non-charged buster-only run of the MM4 bosses where I managed to beat Brightman without him pulling out the Flash Stopper as well, but I too thought it was pure luck.

  • OMG this will help so much when I reach him on my own perfect run emulating yours. Thanks for the vid.

Until then, I still am trying to get through the first Mega Man! lol

  • Another thing that we noticed in the GameFAQs topic where this was mentioned is that if you use only the Rain Flush on Bright Man, you land on all three Flash Stopper numbers, so you should start with a Buster shot before going to the Rain Flush to avoid the attacks.

  • Aye, I forgot to mention that on the video. I did mention it to Kit though (his channel is at Kittah4), and he actually employed that strategy for a Bright Man Speed Run.

  • We were talking about this 5 months ago on the "R.O.C.K. ON! Megaman Group" here on Youtube.

Its the last topic on the 5th page. It's entitled "OMG!! Info about Brightman"

  • Ah, in all fairness, I didn't know about this group. I only know what people tell me.

  • I was looking at the topic on GameFAQs where this came up. I never got the chance to figure it out but it was an interesting conversation. I wonder what else we'd find out about Robot Master AI if we did some more investigation.

  • Great Video 5*

  • You know this kinda makes sence. The gamma boss changes at a certain health. Grenade man does crazy destroyer at a certain health. Search man does deadly storm at a certain health. Someone should have actually found this sooner.

  • Cold Man changes how he fights too. He makes that cloud that slows you. And b4 Bright Man there was Gemini Man. Him and his clone shot at you until he reached a certain health. Then the clone died and he started using his lazer and fighting you solo. He only used his robot master weapon the laser after a certain health point. Why wasn't this found sooner! It looks so obvious. I wonder if there are other bots before or after bright with some health element controling their AI we can manipulate

  • Wait, WHAT?! This insane! You're right about not noticing though. I know the amount of health bosses have to be on to use their desperation attacks in battle network. Except Gregar (Ironic much?)and Falzar. Mainly because they have no set time to use these attacks.

Yet even with with this skill that helped me defeat Nebula Grey omega and CERTAINLY Alpha (I only have white version, curse you BOWLMAN!!). I didn't notice the flash stopper timing.

  • Hahaha, this was unexpected! I thought that it was random too... it just makes you wonder about how many other weird boss's behavior was actually programmed on purpose

Guess I'll be more "paranoid" from now on when playing a video game =P

    Nicely done, Roahm!

  • I watched the original BrightMan video, and yes... At the point which he used the Flash Stopper does indeed correlate to the cheat that was given you. lol

Great video, and thanx also to Mr. L.!

  • I still think there's a small noticable pattern to Quickman.

  • That' one wierd robomaster...

  • Good for you, you finally got your revenge! Now all you need is revenge for Quickman, Needleman, Slashman, Tenguman (MM&B), and Burnerman.

Then you will finally have your peace! ;)

  • don't forget Aquaman

  • Well Brightman included, those are Roahm's Robot Master Nightmares. If Roahm ever gets 2 more robot masters a 10/10, then I have a humerous idea for some fan art. I can count elec man, but he never truly got a 10/10.

  • And ElecMan.

  • I don't think ANY of us would've noticed, if it weren't for L1193. That's a HELL of an AI.

  • Indeed, I'd never have noticed this one myself.

  • About how many tries did it take for you to take down Bright Man this time around Roahm?

  • Even knowing the secret, it still took me around 25 tries. It was about an even split of him cornering me and shooting me point blank, or my not getting the buster hits in fast enough and him getting in the Flash Stopper.

  • all these years of suffering thanks to MrL1193 and u Roahm now i think ill go carry out me own revenge >:)

  • Bright Man's weakness is basic math!?

  • So it seems X)

  • That's a really neat discovery. I always wondered why if you never damaged Bright Man, he never used Flash Stopper. So, I had always assumed it was like a desperation attack. I would also have never guessed it had anything to do with his life bar specificially, though.

Thanks a lot to both of you for this! I'll have to redo a video of mine, and will keep this in mind for future videos.
