If you want to see something truely amazing, check out Simon Rattle performing this same piece with the National Childrens Orchestra of Venezuela with 400 kids! It is mis labled (cut and paste, rattle orquesta infantil), so it will be difficult to find, but you won't be dissappointed.

These Galician young people did an great job. I look forward to listening to more of your videos.

I like Soltis version with the Chicago Symphony Orchestra. This one is so fast, it makes no joy listening to it.

It must be a European thing except I don't see the likes of Rainer Seegers or Wieland Welzel doing it. Looks like they're simply striking the head and dragging the felt across towards them to muffle. I prefer using my hand. It doesn't look so queer.

@numb3rmonkey Thats no european technique, trust me! Sure the whole point in to let the stick rebound...pretty much lesson 1 in percussion..these guys are obviously just posers.Doesnt really matter though, its a youth orchestra and pretty much all about enjoying the music.
