  • I have watched Pt.1 several times, but this is the first time I've seen the Part 2 video.. :) Good tutorial anyway.. :)

  • @2002And Glad you enjoyed it... or at least I hope you did.. :)

  • @BasicModelling Well, I already use this method, but the tutorial is still very interesting and clear for a beginner.. :) :)

  • @2002And ..and that was my intention!! Glad to hear I managed.. :)

  • @BasicModelling No problem!.. :)

  • wat brand is the s tank an wat skill level is it

  • If you watch my latest video, posted just now.. you'll find out!! :) Not sure about the skill level, but if I can do a good job of it, then anyone can.. :) :)

  • thank rob : )

  • Excellent tip!

  • Thank you.. :)

  • Begs the question, where's part 1? So I look and I see it. Heading over to part 1 now. Love you're videos. This is fun! See you over at part 1!

  • I made and posted Pt.1 ages ago.. :) :) Glad you found it, video responses are handy... :)

  • Wow, they are like picture perfect postcards, nice enough to frame. Cool!!

  • When the light is right, it makes a big difference.. I prefer this method now, as it gives a neutral background and makes the models show better.. :) Thank you.. :)

  • Wow, that is very cool and very informative! Sometimes the simplest of methods achieve the best results, amazing. And the models all look terrific, great video!

  • Thank you for noticing the models, I hope somebody would... (apart from the two that already had!)

  • Great I got my paper... um

  • Does that mean the writing's on the wall?? :)

  • randomly speaking yes. It's a sorty of blue tacky experience

  • As long as you stick to it and don't peel off there shouldn't be anything to get hung up on..

  • Great technique, thanks for the info:-)

  • You're welcome... :)

  • You painted the rubber rims on the wheels with white camoflague, and leaving some black showing trough. They should be all black :)

And I agree with Gerbil... Wash isn't always weathering! :)

  • That isn't white camo on the wheels, that is SNOW.. it used to be in a small diorama, which I dropped on the floor and broke and without the diorama (a snow landscape) it doesn't look right. But I take it you noted the tracks were painted white too for the same reason. Like I said, without the diorama you may get the wrong impression! I made the tank and the planes well before I started using washes.. and won't ruin them now by adding any! I'm happy with them and that's good enough for me.. :)

  • I never go back on an older finished model to edit it.. That way I can see how my skills have improved! :)

  • Yes, well, you should have seen some of the stuff I churned out in the beginning of restarting the hobby. It may not look like it, but compared to those early models (most of which I no longer have) I'm very good now! :) My main problem is that I have nowhere to airbrush. We have about 50 / 50 ratio in the club, of members who handbrush and members who airbrush, so I'm not alone.. :) I prefer handbrush anyway, it's less mess, no noise & easier to clean. I'm working on improving the technique..

  • Pretty sweet. I like them! I read on a forum that one specific colour doesn't suit Olive drab colours. I think it was black. Or maybe it was blue? Or green.. Dang, can't remember :)

But I did spot a no-no on your tank...

  • A no-no?? What have I done wrong THIS TIME!!?? :)

  • Ah, works better than I thought! Nice pair of I-16's, nice to see big and small together :)

But where is the wash (and don't say "just below Skegness")? :D

  • You have a wash fetish.. :) :) I quote Mr Gary Wenko of the Japanese Aviation SIG, in reply to my question about weathering Japanese aircraft: "Even Japanese aircraft looked new at some point"..

..and that goes for ALL aircraft.. :)

  • The purpose of the wash is not to add 'dirt' but to add 'Depth', that way the rivets, grilles etc are all enhanced. It makes it look less like painted plastic, more like a detailed aeroplane :P

  • And the purpose with ketchup is to make things taste better.. but it doesn't mean I have to use it on every dish.. :)

  • Hehe, yeah brown sauce or Tabasco are better for certain items :) Suffice to say I won't be doing any washing on my models, panel lines etc will need to be done carefully with a black marker - and then only if it flies. Just printed off a very detailed PZL11c plan, watch this space...

  • I still have the Academy Wildcat to build and practise various techniques on.. but one step at a time! Will sling together a MiG-15 soon too, which hopefully will be given some panel line treatment.. It's IMPOSIBLE to fins a PZL11 at any model show, at least in 1/72 scale.. I would commit near murder in order to get my hands on a kit... :P

  • I gave up on the HobbyBoss wildcat, but it still makes a good shape reference for the balsa one. What make is the mig?

Yep the only half decent PZL11c kit requires some major adjustments, more than I cared to give ;) Still it did fuel my interest in the fighter (I just ordered a good book, hopefully with details on the structures I want to replicate in wood!). Good luck getting one!

  • The MiG-15 is .. erh.. hm.. Oh, what's THAT thing behind your back????

(The kit is a HobbyBoss 'easy' fit)

I hope I distracted yyou, so you didn't see the make!! But I DO have a couple of Mig-15's that are ex-KOPRO.. One is good, one isn't! The UTI version will become a Finnish trainer! But the HobbyBoss have got some VERY good reviews in the modelling magz.. They sell out as soon as Hannants manage to get hold of them, and it looks superb! :)

  • Well I assumed the hobbyboss mig would be a good one :) Lots of fine engraved detail and more or less accurate proportions. I have been scared of buying a Kopro ever since that Yak-1 abomination I bought (mismatched brown plastic moulding like a christmas cracker toy).

  • I can't remember which one is the bad one, the single- or the two-seater! But whilst one is really good, the other kit is one sea of flash... The moulds can't have closed properly and the plastic must have leaked everywhere.. Why it even ended up in a box and on the market is beyond my understanding! I may start the MiG tonight if I'm not too tired.. slept badly today! I need something to do while the P-39's are drying or whatever.. as if an AH-1 Cobra, a P-47 and the Sahariana wasn't enough! :)

  • Good to see you are busy with P-39's. What is the sahariana? Which P-47 are you doing?

  • The Sahariana is an Italian WWII desert vehicle, and it's a very nice little kit. Italeri has made it in both 1/35 and 1/72.. The P-47 is the (rather bad) Hasegawa kit, which I'm very disappointed with.. it costs twice the price to Academy and Revell, but you don't even get a cock-pit interior.. As I won't be building any more of them, I'm doing it as a Swedish 'What If'.. :P The one good thing about the Hasegawa T'bolt is the pilot included, it's an exact AIRFIX copy! :) Odd as that may seem..

  • Wow, true life is stranger than fiction sometimes. Do the proportions of the hasegawa match the real thing? I would assume in that respect it has to be best - considering wht you pay for it?

  • Proportion-wise the Hasegawa should be spot on.. but the kit isn't nice! I rather build the Revell which has minor accurasy issues, but is a much more fun build.. I WON'T be starting the MiG-15 tonight, better concentrate on the P-39's.. But I have started working on converting my Flixton clips from avi to wmv-files.. should post a video or two soon, and some clips will be used in forthcoming modelling videos.. like the MiG, just as an example! Did you get the pics ok yesterday?? :)

  • Video evidence would be impressive ;) I got the pictures thanks! Problem is yahoo mail won't let me download all at once, so it's very slow progress saving to desktop >:(

Perhaps you can upload them to flickr?

  • Could do, and may well do.. but not for a while.. :)

  • But most importantly get some good sleep before you start the models again :)

  • Work has a habit of interferring with my nightsleep.. :) And Mondays are always bad, Barney barked at the Postman, the advert delivery man, the first, second and third rubbish / recycling collections, my son coming home, the neighbours washing machine and the horrible children that lives 4 doors away.. Mondays are not good.. :)

  • Ouch!

  • Today, so far, has been quiet... :)

  • Is it possible to get a job with regular working hours? Like in the day?

  • My work is very regular.. I only work nights.. I don't want a day job (until I have to) as the freedom of working nights far outweighs any negative sides. Also it's slightly better paid, even though we had to take a pay cut from April.. (Night Shift only). Just sitting on the computer for a little while now, then I'll go back to sleep again. When I've first woken up it takes a while to settle again. :) Just had a comment from K on my space alien video (CurtisW) so at least he is STILL with us.

  • Well if it brings home the bacon. AS long as you get enough sleep (i.e. I take 7 hours, no more no less) ;)

The next time he actually makes a video, I will be sure to discuss it in a cold and analytical fashion. Whenever that is...

  • Yes, well.. overall I average 5 - 6 hours a day..if I'm lucky :)

As for K I doubt if I CAN comment, should even I want to..

I've just finished converting the last (outdoors) videoclips from Flixton.. I had THIRTY! Probably another 10 - 15 clips from the indoors museums / nissen huts / hangers. Some of which are the GENUINE Bolton and Paul houses / hangers from Norwich.. Yes, the company behind the Defiant was actually called Bolton AND Paul.. not Bolton Paul.. :)

  • Oh I would aim for a bit more sleep if I were you, it benefits the mind and the heart. You can't eat into sleeping time (even to make good models) :(

Perhaps you could do a video about the Boulton Paul factory, and what was made there?

I know from recent experience with my phone memory card, it can take a long time to process videos in movie maker - especially the big ones!

  • Yes, but as I'm both mindless and heartless, I need not worry too much!! :)

I've started work on the first Flixton Video, just need to add some still photosnad explanatory subtitles. It will cover the outdorr exhibits! The 2nd Flixton video will cver the indoor exhibits, and I guess I can mention Bolton Paul in that one.. I'm still upset at NOT seeing the Defiant at Hendon, it would have stood in a lit up spot next to the Gladiator as well!! But the spot was empty.. of'course.. :( :(

  • very good 5/5!

  • It's a good way of photographing models without getting the clutter in te background.. :)

  • Yeah, thanks for this advice! I guess I'll need it soon. I hope soon, anyway. ;-)

  • That's 'the Spirit'! :)

  • NICE VIDEO MAN!!! 5 stars!!

  • Thank you muchly... :)

  • damm we thought this was a video about jordan

    love and respect

    scotty and libby:0)

  • No, sorry, for that I will have to refer you to Mr Anthony Padbury, Esq. He covers, or maybe uncovers, Jordan in his latest dropping news.. :) :) :) :)

  • yes we left a message like talentless tart

a bit harsh but she is a bit of a tart

    love and respect

    scotty and libby:0)

  • A bit?? :) That doesn't cover half.. :)

  • actually, that's the method photographers use in the studio. they have rolls of paper hanging from the ceiling, and its called "endless horizon" (at lleast in german, "endloser Horizont")... does it work only with light blue paper, or may I use any paper, e.g a new(s) paper?

  • Well, mein lieber Herr Baron.. it said in the text that I PREFER light blue.. but obviously you can use ANY kind of paper.. In your case placing the model inside a brown paper bag probably will be the best!! :) :) :)

Sorry.. ha ha ha ha ha ha ha.. I am only joking! Now I'm off to work though.. The weekend has gone only too fast, as usual! But I have nearly completed TWO P-39's in 1/72 scale since Friday night.. at least the gluing stage! The painting will take the rest of the week no doubt!

  • Thanks for the visual description. My goal, would be to find sufficient paper to use behind my 1/35th scale Dora railgun. At 80 " long,2 feet high,13" deep, the extra needed to cover beyond the model will be large.

  • A bedsheet.. That's your answer.. :) :) Problem solved...

The bill will be in the post tomorrow! :)

  • 80 " long? I am thinking 2 sheets,and 2 widthwise,to be up the wall.

I have moved, put the charge on my account.

on account I am a skinflint.

  • 2 sheets it is then.. :) :) That advice was free, by the way.. :)

  • And I thought it was a paper-view channel!

  • I did apply for prtnership.. but alas.. no.. not good enough, interesting enough or with a big enough following :)

  • Invaluable tips and the result is very professional:)

  • It was puppyzwolle who told me originally, but I was slow to act upon it.. but having tried it successfully in my last few videos I thought it was time to share.. :) It can be used for other objects as well, of'course.. like ripe Bananas, remote controls and Jordans priced possessions..

  • I love these freakin' videos ! They are awesome !

  • Thank you.. I hope people out there will find them useful.. :)

  • nice indeed :)

  • Very useful for ANY kind of object really.. like hats, coins, banknotes, paper cars.. stamps. Finnish Air Force Open Day tickets.. you name it, you can use it! :)

I wouldn't expect to use it on the Spanish Inquisition, though..

  • cool metod !

  • Ooops, another spelling mistake.. :) Ha ha ha ha ha.. :0)

  • cool

  • Sizzling hot! :)

  • Cool video Rob!

    Loves,

    Mooz

  • You can use that method for more than just models.. pjotos of carts should work well! (If they sit still long enough..) :)

  • thanks for the adise i have trouble picturing my models nice models

  • This method should work well, if you can get a large paper sheet.. :)
