so i didn't come out to my first roommate at all. then she randomly found my coming out story on youtube, and told me like 4 months later she was gay too.
and my current roommate tells me that all of her friends are super jealous that she has a lesbian roommate.
both of these were pot luck roommates. fantastic. haha.
My college roommate was also from MI and was a pastor's daughter, so even though once I got to know her I knew that she was totally chill with the gays, I was still worried that she would be weird about actually LIVING w/ a lesbian, so I didn't tell her until the second year we lived together. And she was A-MAZING about it. Literally perfect. Her first words were "Ok. It doesn't change anything." :D It was such a relief to just have things out in the open/just made us closer :)

So one of my college coming tales is this:
The first person I came out to was my best friend at college and part of it was that I had slept with her roommate. I finally came out with it and she was literally floored- she fell off of her chair. She was completely accepting, but she hadn't been expecting it at all. It was the funniest coming experience I've ever had!
because that is so how i would react! i still am so uncomfortable coming out to people. but i guess it's still really soon for me. i've only known/accepted the fact that i'm gay for less than i year. college is what made me realize it. haha. the girls in my highschool were so not for me. but once i got in college, hot girls EVERYWHERE!
this is really helping me out, b/c i'm in the same situation at the moment.. i don't live in a dorm, but i am going to college tho & having to come out in a college atmosphere is totally different than coming out in high school.
i'm 2 wanting to join the GSA that's part of my college, so i can start to feel more comfortable within my own skin.

So you went through two types of orientation while in college. You should never go after your room mate because in the end that's one break up you don't want to go through then!
on my move in day. my roommates mom was like tryign to figure outwho my gf was to me and shes like is she your sister, cousin, friend. and when i came back she's telling my roommate that she thought i was a lesbian lol it made me laugh.. but my roommate was like afraid of me for the whole first semester

Joining a sports team helps a lot - and going to a women's college! It's guaranteed drama but it's better than having frat boys around :-) You're lucky to have such cool roommates.
