If Britain landlocked with rest of Europe then the Germans would have easily overran us and conquer London within two weeks.

However, it was fortunate that the English Channel protects us. Radars, spitfires and hurricanes, not forgotten the Royal Navy did stop the Nazis from invading Britain.

One Panzer commander was said to have heard saying "It was a excellent tank obstacle" meaning that the Channel stop German tanks from going into Britain.

@TheWiseOldLion read correctly what i wrote! ive never talked about the battle of britain but about the whole war! without a russian front the brits together with the americans would probably not have won if all the effort would have been concentrated on knocking the brits out! until the russian campaign the brits were just able to hold their island, while they had been loosing everywhere else from northern europe to northern africa!

Okay, Britain surrenders in 1940, although the RAF won the skies over Britain and beat the German Airforce. Also, how come, in this video, Britain was invaded first then Poland, Even though Britain declared war on Germany after invading Poland?

@CrMyrProductions well, then you know more than winston churchill who knew that britain would have been lost without the americans who supported you already in 1940. however, without a russian front you wouldn't have had a chance, the turning point of the war was in stalingrad, the russians destroyed the german armies and the german air force which lacked in the west afterwards. only due to the desaster in russia a successful norman invasion was possible.

@ScallySkinMaster the support America give us before they joined the war was land lease deals for them to protect merchant shipping, which doesn't count as support really because we paid for it, we paid for pretty much everything. American made ammunition made up less than 1% of of our ammunition. even when America eventually joined the war they didn't have a bigger military presence in western Europe as the British commonwealth.

Britain vs Germany you'd have been slaughtered. Germanys tech advancement was greatest in WW2-Britain developed radar 1st but then Germany got that, stealth, modern uboats, 1st jet fighters, 1st submachine guns, fastest machine guns, best tanks, anti armour, ballistic missiles etc. Germany only lost as they were stretched for men & material, but in a one on one war with all that to focus on one enemy they'd have annhiliated you. Dont kid yourself.

If it makes anyone here feel better, allow me to enlighten. Even if the RAF had been defeated (unlikely, please see battle field detectives), the Royal Navy could stop any cross channel invasion. The German Airforce had no armour piercing bombs in 1940 and no torpedo bombers. After Norway, the German Navy only had 1 cruiser and 6 destroyers to guard Rhine river barges across the channel.

It is not "a load of bollocks". We all know it didn't happen, thanks God. Yet, until late in 1940, it was a possible option of History, which was seriously considered by many people throughout the world:

- Had Churchill been killed in a bombing, peace-seeking politicians could have been elected, supported by pacifist or pro-German parts of the opinion.

- Had the German military accepted to take more risks, they would have organized an invasion with what ships and airborne troops they had.
