  • I love the music too, I wish I knew what it is.

  • Whats the song ? or the piano thingy ????

  • Ron Paul 2012

  • But Guess what, you dont have to wait for china, Cause our own govenment has declared war on us the public, ever here of the SOPA BILL, OR NDAA 2012 OR FEMA CAMPS. IF not I would suggest you do you own search, our Constitution just got flushed down the toilet by that trator and treasonist fuck Obama. Our bill of right is no more. I am a oathkeeper and a vet look it up. oath keepers dot org, look up infowars dot com or Alex Jones, Screw Iraq its there problem, We have a bigger one here at Home.

  • All those wars where started by us, for the globalist to profit off of, they want the oil and land. they send our troops there to die, 5,000 have died so far, and judging by those small numbers(thank god there smalll) and the length of time we have been at war. IF the enemy was that dangerious those numbers would be more like 60,000 and hearing stories of and seeing the "enemy" There fighting dirt farmers with pitch forks. If china was in our country would you fight back?

  • @guyerox, Really? Sad? I am a veteran myself 8 years as a 11-Bravo, but I would expect you to understand what that is, or that once a 11-Bravao always a 11-bang bang, First of all The E-1 or Pivate, I can understand not know what he is getting himself into, but with the news about the war on the news there really is not excuse, the soldier tha re enlist after 4 years knows what he is doing, most do it for the money, and the thrill, We the United States and our Military are the Terriost

  • The shoulder patches changed from All american to 101st airborne

  • Welcome home soldiers of Iraq

  • These vets that seem oblivious to everyone who isn't a vet, but other vets recognize one when they see one, and they welcome them that's what this commercial is a about.

  • You four people that disliked this video should be ashamed of yourselves. You don't realize that almost every veteran of the war loves you and they don't even know you, but they're willing to risk their lives every day to keep you safe. You don't know that they come home and don't get the warm welcoming they expect and deserve. Show some respect to our armed forces that die for you. You're a sad person @MrScoopclarkify, realize that it's not their fault they have no other choice, you dumbfuck.

  • I'm sure this music is by Thomas Newman? Did the "American Beauty" and "Shawshank Redemption" soundtracks among many others.

I recognize his style.. the sparse, haunting, bittersweet piano. It's so beautiful.

  • @allusrussells if all you can do is point out ones spelling instead of dealing with the real issues at hand I would suggest you try to get your news from some other source other than your brain washing local media, I dont watch TV. There are no terriost. unless you mean the occupying forces of American troops in the other countries. I have forgot more than you will allow yourself to know. Open your fucking eyes. Wake the fuck up!

  • Mr. Scoop, all you know is red dawn and whatever else you watch on tv

  • Come home and protect The UNITED STATES of AMERICA here at home. the NDAA and FEMA CAMPS are real look them up!!!!

  • Look we all make choices in life, There is no DRAFT!! you fell for there bullshit and choose to ivade a country, and those people decided they dont want you in there country, I would do the same, ever see RED DAWN. I know I just pissed off a bunch of people here, Thats my aim, to piss you off and wake you up. Stop with the sad videos, stop with the sad stories, WAR is ABOUT DEATH AND DISTRUCTION. what did you think where getting yourself into? a PARADE? WAKE UP! SNAPE OUT OF IT!

  • @MrScoopclarkify Learn to spell.

  • @MrScoopclarkify You are not dumb, you are ignorant.

You have spunk, you're just batting for the wrong team. We did the people in Iraq, and Afghan a favor. We trained their military, and established governments, and saved more lives than we took. In 20 years, Iraq will see how much we actually did for them.

"War is an art. It cannot be understood or explained through words or demonstrations." - Gen. George S. Patton

"Without war, where would the world be?" - Anonymous

  • @DummAsHell War is for Criminals, You didnt teach anyone shit, Look what going on in Iraq right Now, Iam a vet aswell, No you did not save shit. our govenment killed innocent women and children. You better get a clue, you better wake up, you better pick the right side to be on. I am vet, a oath keeper look it up. while your at it take a look at that site oath keepers dot org. look up Fema camps, SOPA, NDAA 2012, OBAMA JUST SIGNED IT IN THE COVER DARKNESS ON NEW YEARS DAY.

  • @MrScoopclarkify Dude, you talk like Jesse Ventura. Sounds like you need a SEAL to punch you in your mouth.

  • I too served in the military 11-B, for 8 years, We all have been lied too. The bottum line is there is no draft, you have access to the internet, do your research, I feel sad that our men and women mostly men have died, OR come home missing limbs or what have you. Stop going to war for the Bilderberg group. The next plan is to turn our troops on the Amercian citizens. Look up NDAA, and FEMA camps. Stop Fighting,Lay donw your arms.

  • We should'nt go to war unless there is a direct threat to our security, and even then we need to take a close look at it. Lives are precious. Our you men and women are dead or dying, in wars that we should not be in, you are fighting not for our freedoms, you are fighting these wars for The Bilderberg Group, the banksters, and the corprorations, and the Illuminati..

They take advantage of our youngs. We should Tell our young men and women the truth.

  • I still feel alone and lost after 4 years being back, empty minded.

  • Not a dry eye in the house.

  • Respect.

  • suddenly people appeared out of nowhere i think its a movie about ghosts

  • This is beautiful, the music, the actor playing the soldier, the atmosphere. This must have won awards for excellence.

  • This is exactly how I felt when I came home. Completely alone.

  • Not a dry eye in the house after this one. Thank you.

  • How about to pull back all troops home and stop the blood shower everywhere? It's time that people learn how to live in peace rather than involving in wars and painful memories and black history.

  • @mrlijones89 Dude you are really fucked up man, these people risk their lives to protect a higher cause. Honestly though thats very crual to say such things. Unless you actually know those who served and gave a peice of themselves to stand up to others, you shouldnt be talking at all. Personally most of my friends are in the armed service so shut you damn mouth and have some respect man. As an enlistment man myself i find it very offensive.

  • @mrlijones89 Where are you from cause I have never meet anyone so disrespectful in my life. Why have suck negativity towards those who risk their lives for their country and brothers on the battlefield and the homefront.

  • @mrlijones89 So this is your forum for your beliefs and your podium for expressing your ideas. You are a coward who stands for nothing It sounds as if YOU were the one who was bullied in school friend. You express blind rage toward the very force that has granted you liberty and you are too stupid to appreciate that. You are beyond the scope of education. When you are done typing a hateful response to me on your laptop in revenge, go back to your normal life... and that will be my revenge to you.

  • Comment removed

  • @SFCHonorGuard hey big man your never alone. We fellow soldiers are here. i know you dont hate America, why else would you deal with the suck of Iraq. Ive been there twice and i know the garbage you go through over there. I sleep maybe 4 hours a night, i wake up for the littlest things. If someone touches me while im sleeping i dont know what happens but im ready to murder them. Just please understand that even if your not soldier any more we are still here for you. I wish you the best of luck.

  • Hooah fellow soldiers. Keep fighting the good fight.... and oorah to you marines out there (at least the non retard ones)

    11B, 1st Infantry Division.

  • @Hooahgoarmy Corpsman Up! to my soon to be fellow Navy FMF Corpsman, Hooah to the Army. Semper Fi to the Marines, and a shout out to the Air Force (at least not the lazy ones)

  • I am 18 years old, and even with no service what so ever I can tell you this commercial is dead on accurate, I know people that have come home different people, completely, mentally dysfunctional. It's really a feeling of "what do I do now" when you get home.

  • @SFCHonorGuard there must be some kind of mistake, keep trying, they helped me out A LOT!!! its a great organization....i know your frustrated, and you should be, but i think there must be a mistake....SFCHonorGuard "America Sucks?" I don't see any "honor" in that!!! i understand again ur pissed, but as an SFC im sure the Army taught you better than that!!!! Keep ya head up!

  • @soldierhard1 THEY STILL REFUSE TO ASSIST ME ACCORDING TO THEM

  • great commercial

    wow

    war is hell

  • I've felt like this many of times just kind of meandering your way through the world, it's always a great feeling to have someone shake your hand or say thank you after having to deal with the ignorant masses that ask things such as "Was there something wrong with you for joining the Army during war time?!" or the ever popular "how many people did you kill?!"

  • No one knows the name of the song?

  • @SgtPeppers17 its beethovens Moonlight Sonata

  • Byran Adams, the guy who is the veteran, i have met before!! His story is so moving!! He has a great future ahead of himself!1

  • Does anybody know the name of the song playing??????

  • WHAT DOES THIS VIDEO TALK BOUT!!!!?? EXPLAIN PLEASE!? SOMEONE

  • awww this is kind of sad

  • Does anyone know who the actor is in this commercial? Or is he a real veteran- someone posted that they knew the other man that walks up and shakes his hand- curious

  • Great commercial. This has got to be Thomas Newman who composed it. Sounds so much like his style, especially around the 30 sec. mark

  • @soldat21 That's what I was thinking. Very reminiscent of American beauty, Kind of ironic some might consider a soldier coming home from war a thing of well...American Beauty.

  • He has his combat badge, that means 180+ days on overseas deployment, part of an airborne deal as well. i'm a 21 charlie, army reserve.

  • Holy crap that dude is my buddy. Go to Veterans for Education on Facebook if this message means something to you. See what Bryan, I and the rest of our organization is doing for all veterans, and the fallen.

  • @mrshllshelby? Buddy, don't lie that you served for the country, and it's quite obvious you haven't. You know it's a crime to impersonate military personell a.k.a the stolen valor act. People take it very seriously when dealing with a soldier. Now is not the time, but when it is go and do it, join when it's necessary.

  • This is almost how it was when my brother Came back from Iraq at the Airport, He is Army enlisted and I am a Marine everyone in the airport cried when I welcomed him in Uniform, as he in his I am still looking for the photos that were taken by the people there so if anyone knows plz tell me

  • Does anyone know the SONG?

  • The guy at the end of the video that walks up and shakes his hand is a guy that i went to school wiht. His name is Todd Bowers.

  • The guy at the end of the video that walks up and shakes his hand is a guy that i went to school wiht. His name is Todd Bowers.

  • So Swordsmanryan you're saying im wrong.

  • This is how I felt when I came home......Dont do this to our troops.....

  • @mrsdicaprio22 I've just found out that he was a member of the 82nd Airborne Division and i also know that he was stationed in Afghanistan because the colors of his battle fatigues match Afghanistan's environment.

  • Not quite. Current assignment patch he's wearing (left sleeve, the Screaming Eagle) is 101st and his combat patch (right sleeve, All-American) is 82nd. He's wearing ACUs, which is the Army-wide uniform, not specific to service in Afghanistan.

  • @BlaringSnake, Oh wow. Thanks for informing me. I appreciate it.

  • @mrsdicaprio your welcome any time

  • Who is the guy that's in the army suit walking around? Anyone know?

  • My guess is that hes a member of an infantry division but no one really knows for sure.

  • BlaringSnake40, Yeah he probably is a member of an infantry division. Yeah no one really knows for sure. Thanks for responding=D

  • Comment removed

  • @GoMelanie uhhh no he isn't he was stationed in Afghanistan because his battledress matches Afghanistan's environment.

  • look it up on google if you don't believe me.

  • @GoMelanie- Oh wow! That;s awesome! Yes I am really sure that he is a really good kid to know. Thanks=)

  • @GoMelanie - I thought he was an actor- he's a real Vet?

  • Why is the POST 9-11 GI BILL phone number a joke? I have been calling that number for several months. It is the same BS all of the time, you are on hold for ten minutes with recordings and then it says, "due to a high volume of calls we cannot assist you, please call back another time." And then it hangs up on you. How many months is this going to go on into the year of 2010 and beyond? How long are the lies going to continue with under-staffing and constantly using Americans?

  • WHATS THE SONG?

  • great ad

  • This is one well made ad. For me, I think the "alone" part is coming home to a fat, dumb, happy country obsessed with Starbucks, shopping, and nonsense 'reality' TV. You really would have no clue we were in two shooting wars. 90% of the population could tell you the latest on the NFL, Nascar, Usher or Britney but couldn't find Iraq on a map. Vet of Iraq & Afghanistan at 40, the young troops like this kid are A+. We shouldn't go to war unless it is important enough for EVERYONE to pay attention.

  • the good die young, as the saying goes

  • i respect this and all but i think its funny that a Marine Walks up to a Army Soilder when all they do in iraq is talk shit about the army

  • For all they do, they go by unnoticed as if they were the only ones in the world.

  • I just saw this today on T.V. I get sad when I see it but the end always makes me feel better.

  • everyone that returns from Iraq or Afghanistan as in R and R will feel alone, if they dont have a USO or something at their airport... I've felt the same way, you start seeing the Big Picture feeling like you dont belong. Only till someone shakes your hand or when you get picked up by family...

  • My brother is in southern Afghanistan right now. I, too, hope he doesn't feel alone when he gets home. But, I love the idea of a community for veterans. Sort of like a support group. it's nice to know it's out there when a veteran needs to talk to someone who's "been there." :) Love the commercial, the meaning, and the music.

  • I go to afghanistan by the end of December!! I hope I dont feel alone when I come back. that would suck!!!!

  • You'll feel really out of place when you first get back. Walking around in civilian clothes, no weapon, people around you driving like idiots...

Just remember you're not the only one who's been through it before. There are others who've been there and will know how you feel.

  • IAVA - thanks for all you do!

  • Excellent ad! Music definitely makes this one. Sure does sound like Thomas Newman.

  • I always WATCH this commercial when it's on. And I love the music. Anyone know who wrote the music?

  • sounds like Thomas Newman

  • OMG! I thought that myself. He's one of faves!! I saw him once at a fundraiser but I was too chicken to go up to him and thank him for ROAD TO PERDITION!

  • Lucky you! I'd love to hear him in person!! Road to Perdition and Road to Chicago are amazing, my favs as well.

  • This reminds me so much of how I felt coming home from Iraq. Whoever directed this really hit the nail on the head.

IAVA does good work. If any of you see yourself in this video, be sure to check them out.

  • My Favorite commercial of all time :D I love it!

  • i love this commercial... i love that a marine was there to welcome A hero back. i was a marine ,and i think all those who served, in any branch, are my personal heros. i wish i could have been there for them all...

  • Only 2 more years before i can enlist for the marines..... and i'm confident i can make it through boot camp... and if i do i will consider every serviceman my brother despite the different tag lines

  • holy crap a marine; welcomed him home

  • So? Marines are people just like you.

  • Damn, I felt the same way when I got back...It's just so different now. This commercial really hits home

  • Can anyone tell me what song this is please? I can't seem to find out what it is

  • Comment removed

  • Amazing commercial.

  • I know what im talking about..Apparently you don't.. If you read the comment i posted before, you will clearly see that I have no use for IAVA..I said nothing to impune their legitimacy as a veteran organization..However..I have no use nor need for them..So you need to take stock in some of your own advice and "Try not talking about things you don't fully know". How, copy over?

  • I like this video a lot...But i don't need nor endorse IAVA... When I re-deployed back to Hood after my first deployment..I don't recall seeing anyone from IAVA, however i do recall the USO, American Legion and The VFW being there for me and the other soldiers... As far as the VA is concerned, it is a broken and misused system that needs to be revamp and restaffed. The VFW and my church have done more for me than IAVA, the VA or the puppet politicians.

  • The IAVA is TRYING to help us but they have only been around for a short time. They are nonprofit and nonpartisan and their only goal is to help us. They have been one of the bigger groups pushing for us in congress. I say US becasue I to am and OIF vet. I don't know why you appear to be against a groups thats only goal is to help us carry on our lifes. If you knew anything about the IAVA its staffed mostly by OIF and OEF vets... Try not talking about things you don't fully know.

  • One of my friends (82nd Airborne Infantry) said when he returned from Iraq, he didn't know what the hell to do, and didn't know anyone, but then saw a couple sailors who were looking lost like him, and so he walked with them. He said it was a big relief.

  • ...I don't know, but I remember leaving the Marines early and later walking out of the bus, not knowing where to go. My story was different but three family members found me minutes later. Just something about this video that hits me really hard. Those guys then were your real brothers...

  • IAVA is an important organization, especially for today's returning vets. We are proud to support and feature these folks!

    The Veterans Network

  • what song is this?!

  • Hang on. They were 'round before the last election and are still around now. Just what are you talking about?

  • OneslackmindedSOB

Wrong Nash sweety. Helicopter gunship pilot VN.

And you were a totally combat ready soldier unlike the major in Special Forces command. YOU were helped so much by the IAVA because of your combat related PTSD.

And now, tell us all what your MOS, pumpkin?

  • takes me back....like 8 months lol

but for real we got a warm welcome home thanks!

  • now that Bush & Co. are gone, our vets will finally start to get the support the deserve when they come home!... instead of the empty GOP "we support the troops" promises that never amount to anything.

  • this sends chills down my spine. even those who are not in favor of the war, even those people love and support you guys. Thanks guys! keep ya heads up cause you guys are serving a good cause.

  • Comment removed

  • I like how they made it a marine welcoming the soldier home. :)

  • yeah, what a sham! raising awareness of veteran's issues, promoting support of the military, hustling to increase funding to the VA, offering direct outreach to veterans. what a sham!

  • Cool that a Marine welcomed home the Army soldier. Oorah and Hooah!!

  • God bless soldiers!

  • definantly hit home and its true were not alone there are hundred of thousands of veterans out there and we all need to come together. especially now when the world outside the military is so harsh we need to be there to support our brothers and sisters and keep em on their feet so they can get a runnin start in whatever direction they decide to head in

  • This video hit home so hard because it's exactly how i felt comming home. It was scary comming home, and it was like...i was on my own. Thank you, we finally have something that shows reality.

  • Best commercial ive seen in a long time this commercial actually did touch me

  • pathetic how vets HAVE to seek out a welcome home/recognition by the fellow 1% of the country that has actually defended this country while the 99% civilian population just live in their own little bubble caring only about themselves. i hope the iava is trying to do some sort of outreach to nonveterans to teach them how to respect and honor vets.

  • @junebugmeg i dont think this is about welcome, well, maybe kinda. I think it's more about helping veterans after they come back from Iraq and stuff.

    Awesome ad :)

  • Can anyone confirm to me whether Thomas Newman did the beautiful music for this ad? I hear his haunting sound! Anyone??

  • I work at DFW Airport. & I see this commercial all the time. It makes me stop and watch it or listen to it while I work.

Heh, even better some Navy personnel came home and they were saying "give it up for the USA!" and they clapped, then some people around them clapped and then everyone clapped in the restaurant. It was an amazing sight to see. I talk to soldiers here all the time. They are amazing men and women. One woman in the Army said "Im on leaving going home." I got goosebumps.

  • What a wonderful ad. I always try to acknowledge our servicemen and women in uniform whenever I see them. All politics aside, these guys are girls deserve our respect.

  • my younger bro is not even in Afghanistan yet, but this ad reminded me of him.

  • Comment removed

  • This commercial touched me. I can't wait until my brother comes home from Iraq.

  • Amazing. No need for words. This says it all.

  • We buried a fellow Vietnam Veteran today. Still hurts after all of these years. The makers of this clip hit the nail on the head. We felt the way it is portrayed and now our new vets are often feeling the same way. To all returning vets - Welcome Home and Thanks! - Vietnam Vet

  • Thanks for serving and paving the way for us Young Vets. I Wont forget you who gave before my time.

  • thank you for everthing. my husband is over seas and we all miss him sooo much.

  • you no this commercial acually means a lot to people... thanks for makin it. My bro just went over to fight for this country. <3 god bless and safe travels. thanks to all our troops you all are awsome. <3

  • whens he come home?

Luke comes in the end of May for all our graduations =) and he said somthin about matt coming with. hope it all works out. ly

  • Want to see a change in the wars we fight. Please vote. Sut your fucking mouth, vote and make your silent choice. You are given the rights to vote becauseof the blood we (all the enlisted people like myself) have shed. Alot of people bitc about their rights and some dont use them. If you simply hate us soldiers Get the hell out our country. You are no better then the terrorists. The difference is that you dont use bombs, you use words to bring us down. Thanks to those who do support us

  • Outstanding commercial... thank you to all those involved

  • Folks should read other people's comments before flaming them. Darlie said "Notice I say WE. Not our troops. They did exactly what WE asked of them and WE betrayed them by using them for profit." Darlie wasn't hammering on our troops, she was critiquing our government who launched this fucked up war in the first place, wasting the lives of brave men and women who bravely defend us. BTW, Darlie is a conservative, but not a neocon. She believes this war is wrong, as do I, a veteran.

  • Well not christine, but darliegoddess

  • Yeah darliegoddess looks like a POS liberal Charlie Hotel Uniform Tango!!!!I dont understand how someone can hate their own country and the men and women who defend it. From one veteran to another..Thank you for your service trey!!!!

  • You know I don't understand that either. She really needs to get her education, because her ass just likes to start shit, and thank you for getting rid of her.

  • "our people do not kill innocent people"

Were this only true. This statement is dangerously naive because innocent people *do* get accidentally killed during war, the stress of which can sometimes make good people do bad things. However, our troops are not the enemy -- WAR is the enemy. And politicians who start stupid and unjustified wars are the enemy, because they put our troops in harm's way under false pretenses. And before anyone flames me, I'm an honorably discharged veteran and patriot.

  • Show some respect, our people do not kill innocent people. If you want to tell someone to stop killing innocent people, tell that to Osama, or dig up Saddam and tell him that, and tell Kim Jung Il to quit. Do not disrespect our Troops.

  • Do not start disrespecting me, female. I am a fucking Troop, and I WAS NOT talking Politics, so you DO NOT know what I know about Politics. You are very fucking ignorant, trying to start shit. So show fucking respect for people in the Military, or get the fuck out, whore.

  • WOW! Powerful words from somebody who hides behind anonymity. I'll refrain from generalizations, and merely yield to your moral superiority.

    ASSHOLE

  • Post your bullshit somewhere else you POS... If it wasn't for our troops you wouldn't have the right to say shit..So do us all a favor, and jump off a bridge.. "raiders lead the way, SIR"

  • Thank you, for your Service.

I am very much in support of IAVA,

and all they do. All the best in 2009.

    ~x~Poetheadsup.

  • Hey, this one chick christineglamazon hates our Military,as she started attacking me outta no where after my pro troop comment.

  • I want to thank you all for your service as well...THANK YOU!!!!!

  • Thank you to all the men and women in the armed services!!

  • Very moving. Great ad.

  • Incredibly powerful. I really relate to this video, and remember feeling exactly the same when I came home from Iraq. I got a little emotional after watching this one. Great job, IAVA.

  • I worked on this Spot as part of the crew and I felt proud to work on a worthy cause! Most of the spots I work on are to sell product, so it was a rewarding experience! Thank you to All our Armed Services Folks who continue to fight to preserve our freedom!

  • hey brain good job ...dave

  • Well-done. This one gets me sad :(

  • JOB WELL DONE

  • this video is cool.

  • I love this video.

  • It's a very powerful one, Joey.
