He has such a nice voice. It's a pity that he cannot speak anymore. He has that kind of voice... the voice that just oozes inteliigence. A bit like RDJ when he starts to talk fast.
The great thing about Ebert is he let his heart and his concience be his guide and nothing else- he's never dodged an ideological agruement to my knowledge. He's actually since Siskel picked critics who he knew were his foils.
I can't believe people would believe he wasn't friends with Siskel. He couldn't have worked with Siskel for over 20 years if he didn't like him - just look at Martin and Lewis.
@mrman2u2 No he isn't he's a fucking idiot who has an inflated ego. He thinks he's still relevant. Yeah I'm glad I wasted my whole life doing but watching movies and then telling people that I think certain movies are masterpieces 10 - 20 years after they've already been made and declared by everyone else to be masterpieces.
There are plans to continue the franchise with Ebert as producer. It's not the first time that the show had been booted into other venues, although Ebert's surgery means he's probably not going to be on-screen anymore.
WTF is wrong with this THING called Ebert?

gardengnomewshiv, very well put, I couldn't have said it better.
He's a man I've come to respect more and more over the years.
More than a film critic, he's a critical thinker, whose insights are not confined to the hollywood status quo.
It's also good to hear that he and Siskel were actualy friends, contrary to popular opinion.

@nutherefurlong >> according to Ebert, when the new show starts on PBS, he will make the occasional onscreen review, although not as many.
