Nice technique - although the sine wave method has been diminished in the united states through the years i see a lot of good points behind both sides of the argument - being a student of Jhoon Rhee and Suh Chong Kang, both direct students of General Choi ive seen the tuls, or Hyungs performed many ways - we also cannot forget the different kwans that traditional ITF patterns have been broken down into depending on what grandmaster you trained under and the lineage you follow - Great Forms!
@szptkd talk properly. its "Tul" and not pattern. Remember that "Tul" comes from Korea, we should respect their terms and names for kicks like bandeldolly, timio bandal up chaggy and things like that :)
@ecthelion314 It doesn't seem like it. The guy in the back doesn't move. It seems there was just a tiny cut forward a split second. Besides, he didn't miss any movements.
This is my high pattern, along with Ge-Baek and what is required to test for 3rd dan in our organization. I hope to do my forms half as well as SBN Suska someday. Wow.
neither are acceleration and speed. Try taking a punch with x kg of mass behind it travelling at y mph, and then taking one with x kg of mass behind it travelling at 2y mph and you will feel the difference in power mate, and vice versa with 2x and y! :D
Very impressive, but he still needs to work more on his stances, he cant keep them solid, he keeps bending them. In Taekwondo, a solid stance is important in a form.
thats true but i dont think he is doing his pattern for real and he is one of the best in the world so im positive he's not doing his best in this video but you're right, a solid stance is important in a form
That was a really good pattern, great control. Im thinking about doing this one in an upcoming tournament but our club prefers the moves to be done faster than this and i think sometimes it can look messy. I prefer patterns to be done like the one in this video. :)
Great form and all that, but i have one question, I am a third deg Black belt and i am curious where is that side kick supposed to go, I thought all side piercing kicks went to the chest... why are his at the face??? Did he miss his target??
Other than that... great form, good technique (not really the way I was taught, but good for how he was taught i bet) good power... just those side kicks...
that guy is awesome. at my school we don't do the spin heels fast, so as to build strength, but WOW this guy has exceptional control of his body, especially on those spin heels.
His kicks are awesome and his patterns are so smooth and rhythmical, but i just wish that would kick at the correct height then they would be practically perfect.
Ive got a couple of tips. Use a bar or chair to hold onto, hold out your leg to the side. Time it and try again holding on with just a couple of fingers. Eventually try with just one finger. After doing this regularly you find that the muscles around the hip and mid section become stronger and soon you won't need to hold on at all. Only do static stretches when totally warmed up to avoid pulling the muscles and also try yoga stretches they are great for Taekwondo flexibility. Lots of luck
If you're over flexable like me then you need to spend extra time working on your leg strength rather than stretches, else you end up more flailing your legs to the target rather than kicking. Best of luck.
Yes, stretching does help, but in order to hold your kicks up theres something else your not keeping in mind. You have to hold your kicks off of your core, aka balance. Once, you find your center of gravity and you can keep balance off of one foot and hold a stance it should get easier. Also, try going through your kicks in steps. Every major movement being one step. This will make it so you will be able to keep full control rather then your form being sporadic and unbalanced.
if you want good strong front kicks, i advise both leg rising excercise, and bending straight forward and trying to touch your toes - this you can do while sitting down, or standing up. also, if you want good kicks to the side, or turning kicks, sitting legs apart and stretching that way, or standing and sliding the feet out to the sides, letting the weight of your body stretch your muscles. make sure you dont practice too hard after a lot of stretching, it may cause pulled/strained muscles.
Hello. I am a student of The American Institute of Tae Kwon Do and my head instructor wanted to teach this kata and the kata, Choong Jang. Could you send me the steps to them?

Very powerful, sharp and fluid, Jaroslaw Suska once again proves his prowess with this martial art.
Only slight mistake - 0:22 when Suska, upon his high-left kick stumbles slightly.
However, in general - with Eui-Am being a hard pattern, I think this was well executed and carried out.

btw im no expert but in every martial art with the shout its supposed to be on the last movement
taekwondoBEN 3 years ago
no it's not, if you're not an expert that's the last thing you should worry about. lol

In TKD the're are more than one one kehaps in some of the patterns.
divedaz 2 years ago
not in taekwondo, there are 'kihap's (shouts) designated to certain moves within each pattern
no kihap on the last move, but a short pause then shout the name of the pattern

I think its the camera angle or the distance he leans his head backwards that makes his kicks seem higher, but maybe they are a little high.

Jaroslaw Suska's pattern is so good.
the sine wave, the speed and the balance.
if anyone can do the thing mentioned above
you can be a perfect martial artist.
that is what my instructor told me.

my advice is lots of stretching, and lots of excercises like squat thrusts and star jumps.
