  • He was a soul on this earth and he left a piece.

  • Did I mention LIKE A HOLY ROLLER MOHERFUCKER!

  • Mother Love Bone was IT!! If it weren't for the death of Andy, there'd be no Pearl Jam, who is just a pale comparison imo. This album has been on constant rotation for 20 years now on my playlist. RIP ANDY!!

  • 240p well'meet again...

  • Happy 46th birthday Andy loves you!!!!

  • Cant beleive ive been avoiding this band because of their image as a grunge band. These guys are like AIC or Soundgarden. Total metal badasses

  • His voice look like Axl rose sometimes.

  • @MaciejAfro whats wrong with choosin drugs??? we all gotta die...personally i wanna die on a beach on spring while i'm high...

  • Grunge isn't a type of music, it was a fashion statment. There's no such thing as "Grunge Music". It's Rock N Roll from the 90's and it was all awesome in their own seperate ways.

  • Where two or more are gathered in the name of something involving Stone Gossard, there am I also. --JC

  • @MaciejAfro Fuck you very much! :]

  • @MaciejAfro just shut the fuck up an listen to the music.

this guy has touched more lives in his time and after than we could ever understand.

  • (thats for all the fanatical 'ten-tards' out there. but... yes. it was a great album even tho imho their later albums progressed and were at least as good, for different reasons. btw don't make fun of mental retardation)

  • i liked mlb more than pearl jam started listening to them in 94. just a little note, btw, pearl jam had other songs besides 'jeremy' and other 'albums' besides 'ten' :)))

  • I think that this band is in a period of transition between "glam" and grunge, but not grunge at all.

  • @vepc1234 You said it. Whatever it is. It's what you said.

  • holy shit stone looks different here than pearl jam

  • Why did grunge fans always make fun of, and whine about the L.A. glam rock scene when, with the exception of Nirvana, almost all of them were the Seattle version of Guns & Roses and Motley Crue, etc. Utter hypocrisy. Metallica were truly the only inovative band to come out of the 80s.

  • @jollyroger1889 the la la glam rock was embracing the commercialism and established corporate images, they drank the kool aid while grunge was not seeking fame, it came to them they were the not glam, they wore value village clothes, it was a totally different movement. I was there at the time and use to see most of the bands before hollywood came knocking down the doors. there were so many great bands that did not get famous but it was a fun time to be around, it was so cool

  • @jollyroger1889 Almost all of the bands that came out of Seattle back then were labeled "alternative". The Glam Metal or Big Hair Bands of LA were anything but that. For the most part their music was sexist, superficial and commercial. They were on heavy rotation on MTV at the time. The Seattle scene grew like a reaction to it. While MLB might share some similarities with GNR, this is not a bad thing. GNR had raised the bar on the 80's glam metal scene ,and helped hasten its demise.

  • this is american classic rock at it's best... loss of an amazing talent... & guys were sexy as fuck during this time period...

  • I love my generation!!! (90s)

  • is he Axl Roses?

  • All I can say is what a waste!

  • Why am I stuck with the Nickelback generation... :(

  • where is The "LEGEND" Button?

  • pearl jam and sound garden wouldn't exist without Andy

  • @Thisismyopinion100

Soundgarden exist before mother love bone.

    Stop talkin shit man.

  • My son Joey was 9 and nate was 7 I"m so happy pops is still kckin it!!!

  • Love Battery is another early 90s grunge band

  • 1:32 Motörhead =þ

  • Been listening to pearl jam since 94'? MLB sound like 90% pearl jam 10% GNR with a glam singer.

  • @SonsCompassMusic ???? MLB sound Aereosmith, Kiss and some grunge.

  • When I hear the last notes of this song, I can't help thinking to Layne Staley when he says "follow me down sexual chocolate baby" in the song Real thing... Maybe it's only me but I can't help thinking to him when I see Andrew Wood singing.

  • For anyone who likes this stuff there is tonnes of music out there you may like. Melvins, Nirvana, Pearl Jam, Sonic Youth, Pixies, Meat Puppets, Mudhoney, Green River, Temple of the Dog, Tad, Bush, Alice In Chains, Mad Season, Soulsavers, Screaming Trees, Soundgarden, Smashing Pumpkins, etc.

  • @DCxxRay - Green River - the very first grunge band, they coined the phrase"grunge"!

  • Kind-of reminds me of The Cult ("Love" era)...

  • this is faaaaaaar better than aerosmith despite of what some guys said

  • sounds like AEROSMITH

  • diz band sounds like guns and roses

  • The last great era for music IMO...Mother Love Bone, Temple of the Dog, Pearl Jam, Soundgarden, Nirvana, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Jane's Addiction, the late 80's/early 90's rap and hip hop scene...great times!!

  • hey also listen to Mad Season for somethin more chilled out that's similar to Alice in Chains. Skid row are also great and all the bands DCRAY mentioned are awsome!

  • this song needs another guitar solo. love this band!

  • cock rock or proto grunge? Im thinking cock rock...better recording quality than Malfunkshun.

  • to DCxxRay,Motherlovebone lover is me,however, may I suggest a great sounding band called Fasterpussycat?! esp.wake me when its over album.not a true match but fantastic original guitars and vocals!

  • I could cry and c....

    The Best !

  • Andrew was amazing!

  • Someone tell me who the fuck is Pearl Jam! This is far better!

  • Kudos to bands like this that kicked phag rock of the map like motley crue, warrant skid row and all of those other phag ass rocks bands

  • Just awesome!!!!

  • ¡Estruendosa Banda de buen grunge! Que buenos tiempos aquellos...

  • SOMOEN SEND ME SOME SONG FROM HIM

    REGRADS

    FLIPP

  • A WHONT SOME NEW SONGS FROM HIM REGRADS

    HASSJFLY

  • HI COUD SOMENE SEND ME SOM OFF THIS

  • This is far better than anything Pearl Jam ever put out. No contest in my book.

  • @th11569 Not in my opinion. This is a little too 80's metal for my taste, but to each their own and fuck Pop Music!

  • jeff has always loved big, weird hats.

  • What, MLB doesn't sound like other Seattle bands, they broke out in 88, I'm from Seattle and lived this music all my life, MLB was something special!

  • I hate Kiss.

  • LONG live Andy's memory he's the man

  • understand that if u loved the whole grunge thing or hated it you have to thank this band at the time this was what seattle music was all about. everyone doing its own thing personally it was one of the worst things that ever happened to rock when andrew oded if this band had stayed together i think everyone would have looked at that music with a different eye.

  • like a holy roller!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • fantastic band!!!! The singer has a very beautiful voice

  • You have to admitt this is very different from the average "grunge" bands at the time especially those on sub pop.

  • can someone help me out?

are there any other bands out there that sound like this band, besides pearl jam : )

  • @DCxxRay Check out Faith No More some more of that funky soundin' sh#t.

  • @prettydedkitty thanks, i will do that

  • @DCxxRay alice in chains, stone temple pilots, soundgarden ...great grunge kings

  • @Piclemania

    dude what

alice in chains sounds nothing like mother love bone

this is the love rock bitchez

  • @DCxxRay any 80's glam rock, look it up on wikipedia or summat

  • @DCxxRay this is the 1st song ive heard by mother love bone, but this song at least sounds very different from pearl jam.

  • @DCxxRay soundgarden, love battery-which ive only heard 1 song by so far but that one sounded good, and temple of the dog, aic, and mad season are all closer sounding to pearl jam than this

  • @DCxxRay

I'll turn you on to my band when we finish recording!!

  • @DCxxRay Soundgarden, Stone temple Piolots, Silverchair, Alice in Chains, The Toadies, Mudhoney. Specifically Soundgarden, Badmotorfinger, Superunknown and Down on the up side are all very very solid albums.

  • @DCxxRay - Malfunkshun

  • @DCxxRay The cult has a similiar vocal styling. I love both bands. RIP Andrew Wood.

  • @DCxxRay sound?

  • @DCxxRay Mother Love Bone was one of a kind.

  • Comment removed

  • @DCxxRay Soundgarden, Alice in Chains, Temple of the Dog. Mother Love Bone helped inspire a whole GREAT era in music. This is what REAL music is!

  • @DCxxRay I'd tell you to go for Green River, Screaming Trees, Skin Yard, Dead Moon and lots of other awesome Seattle underground bands that didn't get the spotlights on them.

  • @DCxxRay Try GR ( The Old One obviously; Pre Chinese Democracy)

  • @bassvargas G'NR is probably my favorite band. Chinese Democracy was fvckin' horrible. That album had like one fvckin' good song on it.

  • @DCxxRay You're entitled to your opinion, but I think Chinese Democracy was awesome. All of those different musicians on one album made for a very UNIQUE album.

  • @DCxxRay Andrew was a big Kiss fan,but the sound of MLB came from everyone listening to different stuff. Same way Blood Sugar Sex Magic RHCP came together, Just start clicking on vids that come up on relate bands when you play MLB stuff and you might find some killer stuff!

  • @DCxxRay A band that hasn't got many similarities with MLB, but still awesome: Blind Melon. Check 'em out. You'll might doubt in the beginning, but the more you're listening to it. The more you'll like it.

  • @voro122 I was gonna recommend them until you beat me to it. ; )

  • @DCxxRay Try Skin Yard

  • @DCxxRay I think they sound more like the old Soundgarden, during the Louder Than Love era

  • @DCxxRay led zeppelin

  • @Jack2daBeat i am a huge led zeppelin fan, but they don't sound anything like mother love bone : )

  • @DCxxRay aerosmith

  • @DCxxRay original Guns'n'Roses

  • @DCxxRay even Pearl Jam doesn't sound like this. I think after Ten, Stone and Mike lost their step. And I forget who's playing lead, but he has more of a "Living Colour" sound than Mike does. Stone and Jeff's best work was done with Andy \m/

  • @DCxxRay sound garden.

  • @DCxxRay GrunTruck is sorta simmilar

  • @DCxxRayTry 1.Temple of The Dog: Hunger Strike 2. Skin Yard: 1000 smiling knuckles 3. Stone Temple Pilots: wicked garden or trippin on a hole in a paper heart.

I hope this in anyway helps you.

  • @DCxxRay Temple of the Dog!

  • @DCxxRay There's lots of bands like this. Try Temple of the Dog, Mad Season, Alice in Chains, Nirvana, Soundgarden, The Green River, and the Screaming Trees. All of them were some of the original grunge bands.

  • @DCxxRay

Alice in Chains :) Actually, the lead vocalist of MLB created band Alice in Chains. So, there you go :D

  • @violinkey1 Not sure of that....

  • @violinkey1 Dude that's absolute bullshit xD Andrew Wood died>.> YOU INSULT HIS MEMORY!!!

  • @Sharpieman68 You're a rude woman or fellow.

  • @DCxxRay some faith no more perhaps?

  • @vargluc Even Motley Crue sounds more like Mother Love Bone than Faith No More Lol

  • @DCxxRay Mudhoney for the win.

  • @DCxxRay Temple Of The Dog

  • @DCxxRay any grunge band soundgarden, nirvana, green river etc.

  • @DCxxRay green river

  • @DCxxRay if you don't know blind melon's stuff check it out. totally different but also frickin sweet

  • You can sense both the end of glam and the beginning of grunge in this band.

  • imo Mother Love Bone can't be pidgeonholed, they fit no particular format which was so refreshing,,,,,,,,,,,,,,a very versatile band, Andy was a chameleon and a great vocalist and lyricist, if you're familiar with drug addiction some of his lyrics make a lot of sense .......the chemistry between Stone, Jeff, Bruce, Greg and Andy is palpable and you see it in the few vids that are available, those guys were having the time of their lives up there performing......

  • na I dislike grunge quite a bit in general cuz I grew up around metal and hairbands and GNR BUT i love this band

  • Not really getting how this influenced pearl jam or nirvana, this is glam rock.. To really find the roots of grunge and alternative as we know it, look at Jane's Addiction and the Pixies.

  • @tgmonster2

Well i can really hear the influence of this in the sound of Pearl Jam

  • @tgmonster2 Glam? uhmm no... grunge. (you should easily know that) and they're anti-glam... one of the members is wearing a Motorhead shirt btw

  • @AIC2374 mother love bone was not anti glam......they were a mixture of both what would become grunge and glam if you listen

  • @lakajd uuuhmm no. They were grunge which right of the bat says soemthing... and idk if you know your shit but Stone Gossard and Jeff Ament were in mother Love Bone, then went on to form Pearl Jam... and PEarl Jam is anti-glam, so that means MLB is too

  • @AIC2374 they were by no means anti-glam,just not glam.....pearl jam's guitarist was a kiss fan,in fact i remember hearing that when coming up with the solo for alive,he just thought of playing like kiss's guitarist.......also,i read an interview with Kevin wood(andrew's brother) saying that from time to time, mother love bone tried to fit into the sound of guns n' roses and the such(glam)

  • @lakajd Kiss isnt glam they were a band even before glam existed

  • This is such an awesome song, and a great video. I wish they'd made more videos, because the two that I've seen (the other being Stardog Champion) are both excellent. RIP, Andy...so glad we have such wonderful music to remember you by!

  • @uhohitsslowchrome ... but you didn't... ...

  • @uhohitsslowchrome ... but you didn't... ...

  • Now...this is what i call " Rock " !

  • This is too glam for my taste.

  • @dissident93 Fair enough, still you gotta creddit them for kicking off the whole Seattle thing back in the day. Im not gonna use the word, its over and miss used as it is, you know the one Gr..

  • We are looking to release a video with never before seen footage live in concert, with a few songs never heard before heard a 2 DVD/CD set. I'm sure most who love MLB will enjoy this video. However we would like to have a response from you if you would be willing to purchase a video of such. Please send an email to:

    MotherLoveBoneLive@yahoo.com

    Thank you

  • Reminds me of GnR. But this is better.

  • Yeaah

  • man I miss those days

  • very metal/hair for the scene

  • @withthelightsout27 indeed. without hair bands, there would be no grunge. As a fan of both, i feel glam metal naturally transitioned into grunge. Early grunge had some glam looks, except they were rather disheveled, or "non-pretty"

  • @jaketheman091 try "punk." glam bands had thier share of influence but punk played a bigger roll in "grunge's" development the whole anti'social perception and unrest of the late 80's early 90's added to the revolt against corporate "cock-rock" and sparked a HUGE change in the face of "pop" music or mainstream music because "pre-grunge" everything was GNR or ACDC, KISS or Motly Crue, lat Ozzy or Bon Jovi...you get the picture, things changed and the 90's ushered in the era of "alternative" rock

  • wood' voice sounds like a combo of robert plant's singing and axle rose's snarling.

  • majorrajor rock n roll

  • L'Andrew.....last great rock st*r

  • this rocks, too bad about the pants though.. really guys?

  • There are 20 dislikes? Who in their right mind would dislike this?

  • Great band, but they have nothing to do with grunge. He looks glammed out to the max, and it sounds like it could be a DLR song. Man this song is soooo trippy, but I am NEVER touching heroin!

  • Great band, but they have nothing to do with grunge. He looks glammed out to the max, and it sounds like it could be a DLR song.

  • MLB were like the Van Halen of grunge

  • this seems influenced by the red hot chilli pepper's mother's milk album. funky and nice.

  • quite a good band, never listened til i got into that "Hunger Strike" track which is pretty wicked too. Sounds a sh*tload like T-Rex to me.

  • And it definantly sounds dirty at the end of the song, the grunge does show.

    dirty dirty dirty

  • I like their drummer

  • adrew wood looks like ronnie van zant in this video, i lyk it

  • the only hair metal that mattered

  • Awesome, I never knew they'd made a video.

  • sounds like guns n roses an pearl jam mixd

  • This band is more of a history lesson - They broke the molds in how music would be recorded, distributed, and even marketed... Coming out of the dearth of pop music where the top acts of 1988 were Rick Astley, George Michael, and (gag) Tiffany, MLB wrote music that was inspired by Page & Plant - yet built upon the angst of growing up in soggy Seattle.

While most people connect MLB with Pearl Jam and Soundgarden, almost every band since has been influenced - either musically or marketing-ly...

  • awesome

  • is it just me or the lead singer is very "robert planty"?

  • @rucas75 his name is andy wood and yeah robert was an insperation to him so its not just you

  • @Autopilot234 thanks auto :) I just started listening to their songs. That's why I didn't know his name. But I just realized that it's almost a crime not to know andrew wood!

  • @rucas75 same here. i'm really into Nirvana, early Alice in Chains, Pearl Jam, Stone Temple Pilots and Soundgarden so one day i decided to look deeper in this genre and its really good. now i'm also listening to MLB, Mudhoney, and Temple Of The Dog. you should check them out too

  • @Autopilot234 like all those bands. except for mudhoney. I'm sorry grunge lovers but i hate it. I just can't stand the lead singer and "let it slide".... i still don't know mlb :S

  • @rucas75 MLB = Mother Love Bone and its cool about Mudhoney. to each his own

  • @Autopilot234 lool! mlb = mother love bone! i'm so blind! :P

  • @Autopilot234 check out Jesus Lizard, Butthole surfers, Dinosaur Jr, Hole, Green River (early grunge, not really categorized as grunge but it's good) and of course The Melvins.

  • @999deauville999 i love Dinosaur Jr. and the Butthole Surfers and of course if you've heard of MLB you've at least heard the name Green River, just like if you heard Nirvana you've heard the name The Melvins, but i dont like Courtney. Hole is a good band but i just dont like Courtney

  • @Autopilot234 i know but hey.... well ... she was kinda hot at those days lol.... or O: nooot? hahaha

  • @999deauville999 yeah and their daughter looks good too. i'm born in 93 so i can say that without sounding creepy

  • awesome shit, way fucking better than what would become Pearl Sham.

  • Andrew Wood's style wouldn't have translated well to the "grunge" era and he probably would've been dropped from the band had he lived. Quite ironic.

  • 20 yrs later and still awesome !!!!

  • This band would of been massive,As the story was born

Greenriver/Malfunkshun = Mudhoney and Mother Love Bone

Mother Love Bone = Temple of the dog

Temple of the dog=Soundgarden and Pearl Jam

Names that should be mentioned are Jeff Ament and Stone Gossard. They were in Greenriver=Mother Love Bone= Temple of the Dog=Pearl Jam.

SoundGarden may of been, But Pearl Jam may of not formed as Eddie meet Stone and Jeff and Matt Cameron throught Temple of the dog.

  • addicted to this song...............
