It seems like the 70s had musical magic sprinkled over it. There was just something so very deep and beautiful about this era of music. The most talented writters and singers came out of this era.....we had good in other eras too but this decade seems to have had the most. The lyrics were so clever back then. You didn't have to listen to the foul language. Both parties automatically knew what was going on. A brotha didn't need much mack either. Just put the needle on the record or slide the tape in and BAM ! There it was. OLD SCHOOL FOREVER!!!

The Whispers put their "Thing Down" on this song!!!! During the late 70's & 80's, I remember in Philly @ 12 mid Sunday Night....WDAS FM Night Jock, Maurice Brown was the bomb!!! He would feature the BEST R&B artist & played their Best Songs..many of these cuts didn't receive much airplay. So it was a Pleasure to hear them. Needless to say..."This song take me back to those GREAT times!!!

I agree you cant compare the whispers with these new catts because there was a different mind set back then. they can only be compared to the Escorts,MANHATTANS,Blue Magic,The Moments etc.. and even then everybody had their own style.That begging business was tough and they never cursed or came straight out and asked for it. The Whispers are unmatched in style, talent and oh so harmonic tunes. There are other groups out there, but not one can parallel themselves group, old school or otherwise. Their voices are definitely in sync with their smooth and melodic ballods. Just an exemplification of how quality far out lasts the cheap imitations.. Try and emulate these guys.

No, you cannot go back to this anymore. Nobody can copy the music back then. I mean, the lyrics too. Nobody can write something so meaningful that is still relevant today. I like Maxwell, John Legend. Now that is Neo-Soul. They are after these guys and Neo-Soul may still be played 10 years, maybe 20 years from now. But we will always remember the original soul musicians

all time greatest song! i remember this beautiful balad in the 70's, enough to make you cry with emotion everyday! You cannot make a song more beautiful than this. whispers, moments, chi lites, manhattans, isley brothers, earth, wind and fire, confunkshun, dramatics, temptation, bloodstone, blue magic, delfonics, floaters, heatwave, enchantment, delegation, need I continue?
