This is Hindustani classical at its recorded best. Pt. DV Paluskar's voice remains the most smooth, the most technically accomplished, and among the most pure that we have had the pleasure to listen to.
One of the best poets of English, Keats, died at the age of 24. The other equally accomplished poet, Shelley, died at 32. Pt DV Paluskar too, achieved immortality at a very short age. How I wish he had been with us for many many years more. But, may be he sings in heaven now...
Simply matchless,I was not following the best voice ever for two decades, simply my loss, thanks to Pt Jasraj on DD Bharati,I atleast can rewind DV sahab's best again.Folks he was music as best as music can be-I don't think any singer ever can match what he did in just 34 years on this planet-he had to go somewhere, others also should be fortunate to hear him.
It's very nice how a violin is following the voice. The sarangi is such a good instrument for following the voice, so is the violin. It is rare to hear the violin follow the voice in Hindustani music.
@klacsanzky77 - Yes, few hindustani vocalists used violin and saranghi for accompaniment. Violin accompaniment in this recording provided by Pt.D.K.Datar (nephew of Pt.D.V.Paluskar)
must be an a i r recording. there is no 78 rpm recording of this description.he is accompanied by tamburas and a violin -probably by his nepwhew d.k. datar.

Wonderrful. Thanks for this. For all those who like this view Kumar Gandharva on the same Bandish. The differences in style are interesting to note.

I had heard Pt. Bhimsen Joshi singing this bandish. However Pt. Paluskar tops that. Thanx for posting.

I love both Bhimsen Joshi and DV Paluskar have sung this bandish in such a different and pleasing fashion.
