these are two separate bands and should be treated as such.

Nah, Pinhead Gunpowder is more of a side project for Billie Joe; none of the other members are the same (except for Jason White, who plays the guitar for Green Day in live performances). Also, Pinhead Gunpowder was started a few years after Green Day, but is still releasing albums now.
