  • dont get me wrong i love steam, but the eira that followed was the best id seen, the, 08, 20, 24, 25, 26, 31, 33, 37, 40, 44, 45, 46, 47, 50, 52,56, and of coarse the best of the best the deltics, you had loads of diffrent engines then just like the steam days, now as for todays CRAP, well they can shove that , give me steam n diesels anyday, nice vid

  • The Scots with their 2a boilers were the most efficient locos ever, this in terms of steam produced & the amount of coal needed to achieve this,

Yep Bullieds boilers were the best at steam production but @ great coal usage.

The 1948 exchange results illustrate the Scot,s virtues

  • Great Video, 5 Stars!

  • Pure magic, here to remind us of the days that should of stayed. Why do we want to get places faster anyway!! Thank you to all that make it possible!

  • What sound!

  • And the safety valves are lifting. Brilliant.

  • Here be dragons.

  • There's a nice quote in Heritage Railway magazine that could make a nice postscript to those: "The steam age did not die in 1968 but, looking back, was briefly suspended."

  • Fantastic. Nothing will ever take the place of steam in peoples hearts. 5*!

  • Absolutely staggering, thank you

  • Brilliant how a scot should look and sound unlike the awful red thing.

  • This well-documented ascent of Shap must be one of the best performances by a footplate crew in the steam preservation era. And 46115 seems to be well up to the thrash.

  • Favourited!

  • That is one of the best clips I have ever seen linesider. I have parked in the layby near there and dreamed of what used to be. The sound of that Scot is awesome! Very well done. 5*

  • Well done, again! 5*

  • Wish I'd been there!

  • A brilliant video production there David, The quotations from some of this country's best Railway Photographers, with an amazing performance from all the footplate staff, made it a spine chilling thing to watch...5* Bob
