  • You lots are confused. Trying to group silat itself all as a muslim art or as not doesn't make sense on its own. Yes some Silat styles only teach muslims and can be labelled an Islamic martial art in the philosophy behind the style, but at the same time some silat styles have nothing to do with Islam like maybe what this guy has learnt.

Tryin to group it all together is like saying all kung fu is soley to protect buddism just because of shaolin.

  • @MrJohnfisher81 FYI it is got the influence of chinese and indian MA for sure, but the basic form is originally come out of the shamanic era of a place (know days known as indonesia), and the first purpose is suprisingly more spiritual rather than for fighting. try to browse `pencak silat west java` here in youtube.

  • the best thing about silat is it jutsu..

u think ninja only have jutsu..

the best jutsu is they call it (santau) it kill people without touch then just say they name and imagine they face.. this jutsu already kill bruce lee.. this jutsu same like vodoo doll but different ... how about ur learn some jutsu.. tell ur master if u dint belive me ..

  • @cengkoi20 lol

  • @cengkoi20 i believe u as im a silat practicanor , im malaysian so i know those stuff, my grandfather wanted to teach me Isim ( i think u know whats that suppose to mean ) but i dont as im a muslim and those kinda Ilmu is making u nearer to syirik

  • @cengkoi20 OK!

  • @cengkoi20 .... i dont think "santau" have to do with anything in "silat". "Santau" is just a black magic or voodoo.

  • Man, you people are confused - pencak silat is NOT a Muslim martial-art. There is no fighting system in Islam because it's a religion that teaches peace, not radical Islamists, clear? Ok. Pencak Silat is a MALAY archipelago (Malaysia, Indonesia) martial-art, pioneered by native Malays hundreds of years ago, even before Islam was introduced. Back then it's said that this art has it's roots in the mystic; style is not of the essence; internal power is. Black-magic? Perhaps..

  • i have heard sometime about penchak silat, is this the same thing?

  • @jacobroodenburg pencak silat is silat...but from indonesia...there are three silat names depending on its region....silat melayu in malaysia, pencak silat in indonesia, kali in philipine

  • i notice alot of things especialy with karate that unless you train with someone who knows the traditional battle field art art, then your basicaly wasting your time. cuz MMA is alot of balony when you dont have time to dance around feel the other guy out and throw a bunch of punches and kicks and oh lets roll around on the floor garbage or are facing more than one, you need something that can end someone in a sec or 2. if it doesent then on the street your gonna have trouble, and fighting-

  • we proud to be malaysia ^_^

  • silat kicks asss

  • is silat a muslim martial art? because i heard it is

  • @Tea0Status no.

it is practiced by many Muslims due to the region it is from.. but no it is not specifically a muslim art.

I have trained in malaysia 13 times over the years and I am not a muslim :-)

  • no,it was for everyone who interest and it is from malay not muslim.Muslim or islam just a religion

  • @Tea0Status Yes. Thats why its such bullshit.

  • @Tea0Status no. Not realy. Silat is general terms of Martial Arts that come from Indonesia. there are many Style of them, some of the tradisional Style teach for muslim only, but the Modern Style are for Common

  • @Tea0Status actually, it was not a muslim martial art . it is a malays martial art . u can learn silat although u was not a malay but u need to be a muslim bcoz u need to pray like muslim does .

  • @ayeddeathmetal Sorry, but that's not true either. I go to malaysia for silat all the time and I don't have to pray at all!

  • @ayeddeathmetal hi.. i am a muslim too.. but to learn silat you don't necessarily have to be muslim to learn it.. its a MARTIAL ART that is practiced and found by muslims.. but when you said to Tea0Status that you have to pray like muslim to learn silat.. I mean that is wrong.. and thus making islam look like some kind of stereotype..

  • @Tea0Status; i'am malaysian malay and muslim. silat has been created by malay n java (indonesia), that some peoples think, silat is muslim martial art. becasue, mostly malay and java peoples is muslim.

  • @Tea0Status Silat isn't specifically Muslim and its origins predate Islam in the Malay Archipelago. I have not heard that you have to follow Muslim prayer practices in Silat but that might just be the particular school. I have heard that some Silat has rituals that have to do with ancient Malay traditions and not Islam.

  • @Tea0Status @TeamWuJin im from malaysia and im a muslim. its not a muslim martial art. its a malay martial art. malays use silat like the chinese use kung fu. its not about the religion... kay? =D

  • can i ask u something..is this silat Gayong? because silat Gayong is famous in Australia...

  • @zulhilmi5543 This is not Silat Gayong.. and I personally never new Silat Gayong to be famous in Australia to be honest.. but I know it's very big in Malaysia :-)

  • @TeamWuJin

i thought it was silat gayong...well yes silat gayong association is already in Australia, bought by a malaysian that live in Australia and the number of student in Australia is increasing year by year..most of them are local people...you should try to learn one..i sure you it will push you to the over the limit..it's one of the lethal martial art in Malay martial art culture..

  • @TeamWuJin

Very nice video! , your buahs are great and its effective too, i can see your movement like guru.

  • Comment removed

  • @devofilth Watch my other videos... then maybe grow up and learn some respect.

  • Excuse me. Your blocks look amazing and effective as does your guard. But I dont know how your blocks work :[ Can you post an indepth explanation please ?

  • @SomeMartialArtsGuy There are around 500 Raw Combat vids on youtube.. I suggest you look through them as there are alot of tutorials I have posted also.

  • @TeamWuJin I rememebr taking silat being taught with some takedowns you can opt to hold the ear the whole way through and just rip it off no problem

  • Lets see a real fight. Also- how the hell is the guy falling at 0:36?

  • @Ebuverthebicepcurler lol, if you wanna see one then go start one.. haha

Look what I did to his knee for fuck sake!

  • @Ebuverthebicepcurler he off balances him. when i took silat I rememebr thinking it looked fake or the guy was just falling intentionally most of the takedowns are based around off balancing. if you're off balance you have no control and you'll either stumble or fall

  • Another great vid luke.

  • nice ill incorporate the ear take down into my street bjj

  • @4c00h

I mean no disrespect, but what is 'Street BJJ'?

BJJ is a martial art that exists as a sport. If it is not in the ring and it doesn't have rules, then it is no longer BJJ. It is street fighting, or self-defense.

'BJJ' is not a suffix, nor 'street' a prefix that can be added without meaning.

  • I've heard of it before too actually.. the hybrid 'street fighting' and base it on BJJ its like Freestyle Karate still do Kata but do alot of response training which looks nothign like it.. Whatever floats ya boat I guess. ;-)

  • Of course. I didn't mean to come across as a martial arts snob or purist... It just sounded a bit daft to ignorant ears!

  • @CaiRemnant Street BJJ, much like 'street MMA' is a marketing gimmick used on people who've fallen for the 'street vs sport' distinction. It's meaningless, and usually an excuse for sloppy training methods that don't have to be tested in competition.

  • @callum828 that reminds me of chris klugston's video "combat JKD", as if JKD was designed for something else.

  • @callum828 You mean the whole rolling around the floor crap were there is broken glass how UFC is the most realistic stuff compared to the street? Well go tell that ot the snobs who disgrace there BJJ teachers. sadly alot of the teachers also think that BJJ is invincible.

  • @Mider999 BJJ only work when you are not allowed to strike the groin, celiac plexus, throat and eyes for examples. In a real fight, you keep proper distance, you don't go hug each other and roll on the ground.

  • @newtubetubetube: Agreed. BJJ seems to forget those things. They don't take into account biting, crotch shots, and eye gouging. It stays in the octagon.

  • @aa3gunner very true. I explained and demonstrated this in a video I JUST posted about CQC Ground Fight Tactics.. Please check it out :-)

  • @CaiRemnant You are clearly not of the hiphop retarded generation. Let me enlighten you old fellow; "street" is a prefix, you just don't have enough street cred to understand that. Yo!

  • Silat is damn cool. I also like the way the moves are presented. It begins to look easier than the sum of the whole skill of silat which is the best for CQB in my opinion.

Very nice, keep up the great work.

  • silat the art of skill
