@benhector55 Google my friend. By searching the term "pneumatic air cannon" and a little of your own creativity you should be able to find what you're looking for.
I usually have the best results with 75psi, slower then the dirt doesn't come out fast enough, faster then it becomes hard for the camera to see and the dust becomes too dispersed.
Sand wouldn't have the same effect. I wouldn't recommend concrete though. It's bad to be breathing in. Instead use fullers earth. That's what they use in the movies and it works much better (no pebbles).
The firing barrel and tha air chamber are 2 and 1/2'' in diameter, about 3 ft long. I used a simple ball valve. I have used solenoids in the past, but the ball valve is more reliable.
Yes, that has happend with one of my other air cannons. When it does happen I usually swap it out at Home Depot and get another one ; ) The air cannon in the video though doesn't use a solenoid valve, just a simple ball valve. I have had a ball valve break before, but it took a lot more beating up to do so. I would recommend using one, then attaching a wrench or some other clamp to it to get more leverage when you want to open it. Good luck with everything!
Where can i get one of these? I have a gunfight scene coming up in a short film im doing and i was going to use after effects to do half of my explosions and use air movers for the others, but this seems smaller and easier. please let meh know!
Do a google search on "Pneumatic Air Canon" you can find a lot of good stuff. You can design yours to fit your needs. They are pretty easy to make. (actually very easy) And making one would be much cheaper than buying one (MUCH CHEAPER). All the parts can be found at homedepot or lowes. Hope this helps.
"Fake concrete explosion made with a compressed air cannon. We shot concrete mix and styrofoam to get the desired effect." thats what I put in the description. But if you have any more questions, just post another comment.
All the shots were done with 75psi and about 5-8 cups of concrete mix. I think 75 psi is the best otherwise the cloud is not as dense and it shoots out too fast for the camera to catch.
Wht did you put into the barrel for the dust and stuff?

dang thats awesome lol how did you make the cannon? or can you point me in the right direction to find out how to make it?

What are those bigger chunks of debris? Pieces of styrofoam? Is that how you did the punch?

Never mind that concrete mix is extremely irritating to eyes and skin....

Great effect! How big is your tank, and how much psi was used? Thanks!

Me and my friend had a problem with a solenoid o-ring breaking. Is that the same type of problem you had?
