@RuflessRecords I think paxman has a problem with how confrontational he is but most people just hate politicians on principle and just like to see Paxman sticking it to them no matter the reason. If a third party candidate stands almost by definition he does not want one of the 2 front runners to win. No one would reasonably expect him to choose publically. I would rather watch a different moderator.

Purely hypothetically, there is no serious alternative - for the love of sanity Paddick would have to vote for Ken. Boris might well be a funny character that many people warm to etc etc but as London Major, reality morphs into a fantasy akin to electing Sooty as PM.
Puppets getting elected into an executive position isn't as far fetched as you would have us believe, but directly electing a Primeminister? you must be stark raving mad!!
The idea is to be impartial, he isn't paid to support anyone. Paxman treats this as an opportunity to be horrible to everyone, and man is he good at it!
Though clearly nobody disapproves of his blatant partiality (at least in this case) as he still has the job, so in essence, he is being paid to be so :P
I agree with below, Boris has won now, so obviously he had something going for him.. be that good mayoral skills or otherwise remains to be seen of course.
I think what he had going for him was a large chunk of 'familiarity breeds contempt', which is what the Labour Party in general is getting right now. For true incompetence one would have to look at the Tory Government before Labour (and, fair enough, the Labour Party in the days of the militant tendency, Hatton et al).
Hatton actually talked a lot of sense v principled etc & saw the true "capitalist revolution" ought to be fought, as did the ever correct Scargill & Tony Benn if only we'd listened...
Boris got in on a protest vote, Ken will be back, thank God!
Tony Benn is a champagne socialist who preaches one doctrine of socialism but lives like a capitalist with his country estate, Notting Hill mansion and his multi million pound fortune. Arthur Scargill is a communist lunatic who held the country to ransom so he could promulgate his Marxist agenda to make everybody poor underneath him as the ruler. Boris Johnson is honest, witty, exceptionally intelligent, and despite minor hiccups in his administration, has done well thus far.
You can actually notice that 'Livingston, because Brosi is a clown' was on the tip of his tongue, but I don't hypothetical questions ever get answered.
Paddick doesn't come across badly there. Both of the others are cunts. The thing is, Boris is a bigger one (racism is 'natural', the Lawrence inquiry was 'Orwellesque') and despite his many flaws London has got better over the past eight years.
And are you, William Donloe, trying to imply that "flag-waving peccaninnes" breaking out in "watermelon smiles" is a spot on and not at all derogatory description for black Africans?!
Blurting things out without thinking BEFORE might be OK for a street entertainer or a village fool to keep the attention on, but I am not at all sure it is a good habit for a Mayor of London. Still, good luck to him! Hope he has the balls to make perhaps unpopular but worthy decisions, like Livingston did.
No I'm not, you're absolutely right - he blurts things out without thinking about it, but this doesn't make him a racist (or intentional racist, depending on how you define racism). I wasn't just being rhetorical though, IanM1984 may have just been calling him a fool not a racist which I accept. Also I believe it's 'piccaninnies' but you're not to blame since it's not a commonly used word (and rightly so).
Well, they ARE bad in different ways. Boris would just be MORE of a disaster than Ken. I certainly can't choose between the two of them, and don't see why any of the three should be forced to give a preference at all! It doesn't bloody matter!
Nah, Cameron will never give him as long a leash as the Labour government's given Ken... and if Boris fucks up, it'll just be handed over to a safety net of Conservative aides and advisors. Worst case scenario: Boris is embarassed and the Conservative party loses a lot of integrity nationwide. Is that a bad thing?
@halimondore how would ken be better than boris? ken is man of bribes, he can be swayed by money, he does the job for money and everything in his life is done for him to earn more money.
@halimondore Sorry, especially as a young Australian replying to a comment made 3 years ago...but from what I can tell, as mayor of London Ken Livingstone managed to anger many by introducing greater and more varied manners of paying tax and flawed congestion systems, while Boris Johnson, despite his demeanor, managed to put forward intelligent ideas such as disallowing alcohol on public transport and moving to lower the reliance on 'bendy-buses'. Nevertheless, I agree with your statement.
@SupernaturalDR Yeah, you're right about Ken making mistakes. Jetting off on a taxpayer funded trip to Venezuela to meet with their dictator, Hugo Chavez, to discuss oil whilst sipping champagne was one of the mistakes.
I love how Boris got the job and has actually, being fair to the man, done a pretty good job
